Dear Parishioners and Friends, To understand today's reading, we should first understand ourselves, stand in front of the mirror and look at ourselves thoroughly. What do we see? The face we have known for years, sometimes young, peculiar, sometimes full of wrinkles. But that is not enough - we must look deeper into the soul. The wisdom of Sirach tells us what a man is capable of, but at the same time tells us how to proceed. The first words are so obvious that they are beyond discussion: "Wrath and anger are hateful things, yet the sinner hugs them tight (Sir 27:30). The following are instructions: "Remember your last days, set enmity aside; remember death and decay, and cease from sin!

Think of the commandments, hate not your neighbor; remember the Most High’s covenant, and overlook faults." (Sir 28:6-7). How important and dangerous these words are, which cannot be passed by indifferently.

Following them is the Letter from St. Paul to the Romans, explaining to us that what we do, what we say, how we act is so relevant. We are Christians, we belong to the Church of Christ, because we are part of the Church, we are the ones who create it and we decide: "For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s." (Rm 14:8).

The Gospel gives us an example of a misunderstanding of the mercy and love of a neighbor. In the first words we have a full interpretation of love and mercy: to Peter's question, “Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive? As many as seven times?” Jesus replied to him: "I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.” (Mt 18:21-22). Are we able to make this effort to forgive them, despite the many sorrows, impertinence, despite the pain inflicted on us by our neighbors? Is it worth it? The Gospel also answers: "So will my heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives your brother from your heart." (Mt 18:35).

By pulling together all of today’s readings, by reading deeper into the Gospel, let us consider how it is fitting for us to behave towards those who despise us, who hurt us, who ignore us? Let us forgive them and pray for them, because it is possible that they are doing so out of fear, in self-defense or aggression, and masking their request for help.

I encourage everyone to purchase a "Cow Pie Drop" ticket. For the 15th time, the Holy Name Society is organizing this lottery, where a cow brought from a farm will decide who will win the top prize of $5000 and who will win 8 prizes at $350. This year, the income from this lottery is going towards renovating the school building floors, as well as a new floor in the main school corridor. The winner of the lottery need n ot be present and will be notified by telephone. Those interested in cheering on the cow, can come to the Ward Hall parking lot on Saturday, September 26th, at 2:00 pm.

We can no longer wait to do this because the school building is needed for the children in our Religious Education Formation Program, SPRED Program, and the Adam Mickiewicz Polish Language School, as well as for our parish organization meetings.

Compliance Request! Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament We will continue having adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Tuesday until further notice. Exposition will begin immediately following the 8:30 am Polish Mass and adoration will continue throughout the day until the time of benediction and Mass in Polish at 7:00 pm. Please find at least one hour in your day to come for individual prayer before the Lord. Come meditate, cool off, unload your worries to the Lord. We are seeking at least four individuals to be present in one hour (or longer) shifts throughout the day. If you would like to come, please register prior to Tuesday by writing your name in the appropriate time slot on the sign up sheet near the St. Faustina icon when you enter the church.

Daily Mass Schedule During the Month of September

The weekday Mass schedule at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish will continue as it was being celebrated in the month of August. English Mass will be celebrated Monday through Friday at 7:30 am and the Polish Mass will be celebrated Monday through Saturday at 8:30 am, preceded by Morning Prayer in Polish at 8:15 am. There is no change to the weekend Mass schedule.

Church Re-Opened Mass Attendance By Reservation

St. Faustina Kowalska Parish has re-opened the church. We are allowed to have up to 62 attendees at each weekday and weekend Mass, that is, Saturday at 4:30 pm (English Mass), and on Sunday at 7:30 am (English Mass), 9:00 am (Polish Mass), 10:30 am (English Mass), 12:30 pm (Polish Mass), and 7:00 pm (Polish Mass). Attendance at any one of these Masses is by reservation only. To reserve your place at any one of the English Masses, please call the Parish Office at 773-767-2411, for the Polish Masses please call Maria Horbal at 773-842-4999, and provide your name, telephone number, and number of individuals planning to attend the Mass by 3:00 pm on Fridays.

Always Ready To Forgive - September 13 The new heart that God wants to give us is a heart ready to forgive, like Jesus. Whenever we ask for mercy, God forgives us and gives us another chance. So why are we so often unable or unwilling to forgive? Whoever hurts others has previously been hurt himself; one who hurts others has previously been hurt himself. Of course, this does not justify the choice of evil or sin, but it indicates the cause. Revenge only widens the circle of hatred and violence, while forgiveness from the heart stops the violence. Forgiveness offers a chance for change. Only you, Jesus, can widen my heart so that it goes from 7 to 77, i.e. continuous forgiveness with You.

Happy Grandparents Day Today is National Grandparents Day! This is an annual observance in the United States celebrated on the Sunday after Labor Day, that honors grandparents and other seniors, and seeks to strengthen relationships

between the generations. The official song of National Grandparents Day is “A Song For Grandma And Grandpa” by Johnny Prill. The official flower is the forget-me-not. If you have grandparents, don’t forget to call or visit them today and thank them for all they’ve done for and given you. God bless all those grandparents who are staying young by „helping” raise their grandchildren on a day-to-day basis!

Exaltation of the Cross - September 14 On Good Friday, at the heart of the Triduum, the commemoration of the Lord’s Passion is colored by sobriety and decorum, but this Thursday the mystery comes in a luminous celebration of Christ’s victory. In its deepest origins, the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is the feast of a dedication of a church, since in the year 335 the Church of the Holy Sepulchre was dedicated on September 13, and on the following day the “true cross” discovered by St. Helena was brought outside to the faithful for veneration. It is a great feast of the Eastern Church, which often marks it by having the whole assembly prostrate themselves on the floor honoring the life-giving cross. At the core of the tradition is the quest of Hele-na, mother of the Emperor Constantine, to acquire the cross and the nails of the Crucifixion from the ruins of Jerusalem. When she was satisfied that she had found them, thanks to the healing of a sick man whose body was placed on the cross, she had her son fund the building of the great basilica. The history of the relic is complicated, especially because it was carried off by invading Persians in the year 614 and “went missing” for fifteen years. Monday’s feast does not celebrate the relic, but rather the life-giving cross from which salva-tion flows. It’s a good day to look around your house or office: Don’t those walls look bare without a cross? What better day to remedy that?

In the midst of illness and pain, may they be united with Christ, who heals both body and soul. May they know the consolation promised to those who suffer and be fully restored to wellness and wholeness. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Rest In Peace Envelope Packet

The envelope packet containing envelopes for the months of September and October was sent out to all parishioners August 7. Parishioners from St. Camillus and those who recently registered are new to the

organization envelopes that can be found in the envelope packet. There are three envelopes that support a specific organization and their ministry: the Holy Name Society (blue envelope), the Ladies Guild (pink envelope) and the Seniors Club (gold envelope). If you wish to make a donation to one or all of the organizations, please use the designated envelope and return them to the parish office or in the collection basket in church along with your Sunday offering during these next few weeks. Holy Name Society 15th Annual Cow Pie Drop

This year’s Annual Cow Pie Drop will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $25 each and only 700 tickets will be sold. First prize is $5,000* and each of the 8 touching squares will receive $350*. **In the event all 700 tickets are not sold, prizes will be awarded on a pro-rated basis.** This year’s proceeds from the Cow Pie Drop will be used to maintain the school building. We would like to replace the floors throughout the entire building, and your support will partially pay for this much needed improvement project. Tickets can be purchased from the Parish Office, Soukal Floral Company, Inc. (6118 S. Archer Ave.), Zakic Financial Service (6617 W. Archer Ave.), or any member of the Holy Name Society.

Scrip Gift Cards St. Faustina Kowalska Parish is phasing out the GLS Scrip gift card fundraising program. We will be selling all the gift cards in our inventory until they are all gone. Please call the parish office for which cards are still available. Sorry, we will not be placing any orders for gift cards not in our inventory.

Commemorative Paver Program Recently some parishioners have shown interest and we would like to revitalize the Commemorative Paver Program. These pavers surround the „Tears Speak” statue located in the Healing Garden between the church and the parking lot. The concrete pavers can be engraved with a personal message or name to commemorate a birth, graduation, wedding, death or other special occasion for yourself or a loved one. Individuals who are experiencing spiritual, emotional, physical or psychological pain from recent events in our parish and/or in our country due to the pandemic may find comfort in participating in the Commemorative Paver Program. Come and place your troubles before Jesus depicted in the „Tears Speak” statue in our Healing Garden. Pavers are available in two sizes: 10” x 13” at the cost of $500 or 8” x 8” at the cost of $250. Placement of the pavers can be random or selected by the donor. If you are interested in the Commemorative Paver Program, please contact the parish office for more information and/or an order form. It is our sincere hope that the Healing Garden will honor those you’ve commemorated and will become a sacred space of peace, solace, and remembrance that you will enjoy visiting frequently.

Religious Education Formation Program

Special Announcement The Archdiocese of Chicago strongly believes that a return to school plan, which provides for in-person learning, is in the best interest of the children and the mission of the

Church. With this in mind and after several discussions, it has been decided that the St. Faustina Kowalska Parish Religious Education Formation Program will provide in-person instruction the first Wednesday of every month, from October 2020 to May 2021, for 3 hours, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. This return to school plan allows for our program to meet the very minimum instructional time requirement for the catechetical year and for the students to receive a more intensive in-person instruction session while maintaining the Archdiocesan and CDC Covid-19 safety guidelines. Holistically speaking, the catechetical staff truly feel that providing in-person instruction and reducing the number of sessions to just once a month will be most beneficial for the health, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual growth of our students during these uncertain times. By decreasing the number of sessions and minimizing the potential risk of exposure to Covid-19, our return to school plan places an emphasis on the safety of our students and catechetical staff, while increasing the in-person instruction time maximizes the quality and quantity of learning. Unfortunately, everything can change in the matter of a day depending on the Covid-19 positivity rate and restrictions made by Government and Archdiocesan authorities. With this in mind, please know that at this time our Religious Education Formation Program can and will only offer in-person instruction beginning in September. Any family that does not feel comfortable sending their child/ren for in-person instruction according to the return to school plan outlined above, may contact me at any time for a full refund. Vigil Candles For twenty-four hours a day, two candles burn at either side of the tabernacle and two more before the Our Lady of Fatima statue. The candles represent our presence and our prayer in a holy place. If you would like to, you may sponsor two vigil candles at the tabernacle or two vigil candles before the Our Lady of Fatima statue. The suggested offering to sponsor one candle is $10. Offerings for the vigil candles can be made in a plain envelope from home and placed together with your Sunday offering or dropped through the mail slot of the parish office. Please remember to write your name, address and telephone number on the envelope, the number of candles and which candles you are sponsoring. Candles may be offered in honor of a child being baptized or receiving First Holy Communion, a couple getting married, or someone who is ill. Candles may also be offered in memory of a beloved deceased individual. May the Mother of God through the Merciful Jesus intercede many favors for everyone. Proceeds from these vigil candles will be used towards liturgical vestments, hosts, candles and further renovation of the sacristy.

Our Lady of Sorrows - September 15 The title, Our Lady of Sorrows, given to our Blessed Mother focuses on her intense suffering and grief during the passion and death of our Lord. Traditionally, this suffering was not limited to the passion and death event; rather, it comprised the seven dolors or seven sorrows of Mary, which were foretold by the Priest Simeon who proclaimed to Mary, This child [Jesus] is destined

to be the downfall and the rise of many in Israel, a sign that will be opposed and you yourself shall be pierced with a sword so that the thoughts of many hearts may be laid bare (Luke 2:34-35). These seven sorrows of our Blessed Mother included the flight of the Holy Family into Egypt; the loss and finding of the child Jesus in the Temple; Mary's meeting of Jesus on His way to Calvary; Mary's standing at the foot of the cross when our Lord was crucified; her holding of Jesus when He was taken down from the cross; and then our Lord's burial. In all, the prophesy of Simeon that a sword would pierce our Blessed Mother's heart was fulfilled in these events. For this reason, Mary is sometimes depicted with her heart exposed and with seven swords piercing it. More importantly, each new suffering was received with the courage, love, and trust that echoed her fiat, let it be done unto me according to Thy word, first uttered at the Annunciation.

Drodzy Parafianie i Przyjaciele, Aby zrozumieć dzisiejsze czytania, wpierw powinniśmy zrozumieć siebie, stanąć przed lustrem i dokładnie się sobie przyjrzeć. Co zobaczymy? Twarz znaną nam od lat, czasami młodą, powabną, czasami pooraną bruzdami zmarszczek. Ale to jeszcze mało – musimy sięgnąć wzrokiem głębiej, w duszę. Mądrość Syracha mówi nam, do czego człowiek jest zdolny, ale równocześnie podpowiada, jak mamy postępować. Pierwsze słowa są tak oczywiste, iż pozostają poza dyskusją: „Złość i gniew są obrzydliwościami, których pełen jest grzesznik.” (Syr 27,30). Kolejne

są pouczeniem: „Pamiętaj na ostatnie rzeczy i przestań nienawidzić; - na rozkład ciała, na śmierć, i trzymaj się przykazań! Pamiętaj na przykazania i nie miej w nienawiści bliźniego, - na przymierze Najwyższego, i daruj obrazę!” (Syr 28,6-7). Jakże to ważne i groźne słowa, wobec których przejść obojętnie nie można.

W ślad za nimi idzie List świętego Pawła do Rzymian, tłumaczący nam, dlaczego tak istotne jest to, co robimy, co mówimy, jak postępujemy. Jesteśmy chrześcijanami, należymy do Kościoła Chrystusowego, ponieważ zaś jesteśmy częścią Kościoła, to my go tworzymy i stanowimy: „jeżeli bowiem żyjemy, żyjemy dla Pana; jeżeli zaś umieramy, umieramy dla Pana. I w życiu więc i w śmierci należymy do Pana.” (Rz 14,8).

Ewangelia daje nam przykład złego zrozumienia miłosierdzia i miłości bliźniego. Zaraz w pierwszych słowach mamy pełną wykładnię miłości i miłosierdzia: na pytanie Piotra „«Panie, ile razy mam przebaczyć, jeśli mój brat wykroczy przeciwko mnie? Czy aż siedem razy?» Jezus mu odrzekł: «Nie mówię ci, że aż siedem razy, lecz aż siedemdziesiąt siedem razy.” (Mt 18,21-22). Czy potrafimy zdobyć się na ten wysiłek, by mimo wielokrotnych przykrości, impertynencji, mimo bólu zadanego nam przez bliźnich, wybaczyć im? Czy warto? Na to również Ewangelia nam odpowiada: „Podobnie uczyni wam Ojciec mój niebieski, jeżeli każdy z was nie przebaczy z serca swemu bratu».” (Mt 18,35).

Wiążąc wszystkie dzisiejsze czytania, wczytując się w Ewangelię, zastanówmy się, jak nam przystoi się zachować wobec tych, którzy nami gardzą, którzy nas kaleczą, którzy nami pomiatają? Wybaczajmy im i módlmy się za nich, bo możliwe jest, iż czynią to ze strachu, w samoobronie bądź agresją maskują swoją prośbę o pomoc.

Już po raz 15 Towarzystwo Imienia Jezus organizuje tę loterię gdzie krowa przywieziona z farmy zadezyduje kto wygra $5000.00 i kto wygra 8 nagród po $350.00. Otwieranie kościoła Parafia Św. Faustyny Kowalskiej już otworzyła kościoła. Na każdej Mszy św. o godz. 4:30 pm (Msza angielska) w sobotę, 7:30 am (Msza angielska) w niedzielę, 9:00 am (Msza polska) w niedzielę, 10:30 am (Msza angielska) w niedzielę, 12:30 pm (Msza polska) w niedzielę, 7:00 pm (Msza polska) w niedzielę będziemy mogli mieć po 62 osoby. Aby uczestniczyć w którejkolwiek z tych Mszy świetych należy się uprzednio zapisać, dzwoniąc po angielsku na numer parafialny do godz. 3:00 pm w piątki: 1(773)767-2411. Po polsku prosimy dzwonić do Pani Marii Horbal do godz. 3:00 pm w piątki na nr. 1(773)842-4999. Należy podać swoje imię i nazwisko oraz numer telefonu. Zgodnie z wymaganiami certyfikacji fazy II, parafie będą musiały korzystać z systemu rezerwacji/ rejestracji w celu zapewnienia właściwego zarządzania uczestnictwem parafian w Mszach i nabożeństwach. Adoracja Najświętszego Sakramentu Adoracja Najświętszego Sakramentu odbędzie się w każdy wtorek we wrześniu. Wystawienie rozpocznie się bezpośrednio po Mszy św. w języku polskim o godz. 8:30 am. Adoracja będzie trwała cały dzień, aż do czasu Mszy św. w języku polskim o godz. 7:00 pm. Proszę znaleźć przynajmniej 1 godzinę w tym dniu, aby przyjść na indywidualną modlitwę przed Najświętszym Sakramentem. Przyjdźcie czuwać, aby oddać swoje zmartwienia przed Panem. Szukamy co najmniej czterech osób, które będą obecne przynajmniej godzinę (lub dłużej, jeśli ktoś może) na zmiany w ciągu dnia, aby nie pozostawiać Pana Jezusa samego w pustym kościele. Prosimy o wcześniejsze zapisy na adorację, wpisując swoje imię i nazwisko w odpowiednim przedziale czasowym na liście, która się znajduje obok ikony św. Faustyny przy wejściu do kościoła.

Zawsze gotowi do przebaczenia - 13 września Nowe serce, które Bóg chce nam dać, to serce gotowe do przebaczenia na wzór Jezusa. Ilekroć skruszeni prosimy o miłosierdzie, Bóg przebacza nam i daje kolejną szansę. Dlaczego więc tak często nie umiemy, czy nie chcemy przebaczać? Ten, kto krzywdzi innych, wcześniej sam został skrzywdzony; ten, kto rani innych, wcześniej sam został zraniony. Oczywiście to nie usprawiedliwia wyboru zła czy grzechu, lecz wskazuje naprzyczynę. Zemsta tylko poszerza krąg nienawiści i przemocy, natomiast przebaczenie z serca zatrzymuje przemoc. Przebaczenie daje szansę na przemianę. Tylko Ty, Jezu, możesz tak poszerzyć moje serce, by z 7 przeszło do 77, czyli ciągłego przebaczania razem z Tobą.

Dzień Dziadka i Babci Druga niedziela we wrześniu obchodzona jest jako Narodowy Dzień Dziadka i Babci. Nie zapomnijmy zadzwonić do naszych Dziadków i Babć by podziękować im za wszystko, co dla nas zrobili. Niech im Pan Bóg błogosławi i sprawia, by zawsze byli młodzi niosąc pomoc swoim dzieciom w wychowaniu ich dzieci.

Podwyższenie Krzyża Świętego – 14 września Starożytne święto, obchodzone początkowo na Wschodzie od IV wieku, zostało ustanowione również na Zachodzie w VII w., aby przypominało o odnalezieniu cennej relikwii Krzyża, na którym umarł Zbawiciel świata. Upamiętnienie narzędzia śmierci, które doprowadziło do śmierci Chrystusa i umożliwiło Jego wywyższenie w chwale podkreśla element zgorszenia, trudny do zrozumienia również dla pierwszych chrześcijan: z najbardziej haniebnego narzędzia śmierci, krzyż przekształca się w znak chwały i symbol wiary chrześcijańskiej. Ikonografia często ukazuje Krzyż jako wysadzany klejnotami i jaśniejący – nie jako narzędzie śmierci, lecz jako znak nieprzemijającej chwały.

Wspomnienie Najświętszej Maryi Panny Bolesnej – 15 września

Przez wiele stuleci Kościół obchodził dwa święta dla uczczenia cierpień Najświętszej Maryi Panny: w piątek przed Niedzielą Palmową – Matki Bożej Bolesnej i 15 września – Siedmiu Boleści Maryi. Pierwsze święto wprowadzono najpierw w Niemczech w roku 1423. Drugie święto ma nieco inny charakter. Czci Bożą Matkę jako Bolesną i Królową Męczenników nie tyle w aspekcie chrystologicznym, co historycznym, przypominając ważniejsze etapy i sceny dramatu Maryi i Jej cierpień. To święto zaczęli wprowadzać serwici. Od roku 1667 rozszerzono je na niektóre diecezje. Pius VII w 1814 r. rozszerzył je na cały Kościół, a dzień święta wyznaczył na trzecią niedzielę września. Papież św. Pius X ustalił je na 15 września. Jest rzeczą niezaprzeczalną, że Maryja wiele wycierpiała jako Matka Zbawiciela. Nie wiemy, czy dokładnie wiedziała, co czeka Jej Syna. Niektórzy pisarze kościelni uważają to za rzecz oczywistą. Przez wspomnienie Maryi Bolesnej uświadamiamy sobie cierpienia, jakie były udziałem Matki Bożej, która – jak nikt inny – była zjednoczona z Chrystusem, również w Jego męce, cierpieniu i śmierci.

Rozkład Codziennych Mszy Świętych Nowy rozkład codziennych Mszy Świętych podczas miesiącu września zostaną odprawione na dalszy ciąg okresu próbnego w parafia św. Faustyny Kowalskiej. Msza św. w języku angielskim będzie odprawiona od poniedziałku do piątku o 7:30 am. Msza św. w języku polskim będzie odprawiona od poniedziałku do soboty o 8:30 am. Godzinki będą odmawiane 15 minut przed Mszą św., czyli o 8:15 am. Rozkład Mszy św. niedzielnych zostanie jak jest, czyli bez zmian. Dodatkowe Msze św. w języku polskim będą odprawione o godzinie 7:00 pm we wtorki, piątki oraz pierwsze i drugie soboty miesiąca.

Towarzystwo Imienia Jezus 15 Doroczna "Cow Pie Drop"

15 Doroczna "Cow Pie Drop" odbędzie się w sobotę, 26 września o godzinie 2:00 po południu. Bilety są po $25 i tylko 700 biletów będzie sprzedane. Pierwsza nagroda jest $5,000*

i każdy kwadrat wokół dostanie $350. **Jeśli nie będzie sprzedanych 700 biletów, nagrody będą przyznawane proporcjonalnie.** Tegoroczny dochód z "Cow Pie Drop" będzie przeznaczony na utrzymanie budynku szkolnego. Św. Stanisław Kostka – 18 września W miesiącu wrześniu, gdy rozpoczyna się nowy rok szkolny i katechetyczny, gdy podejmujemy nowy trud wychowawczy z naszą dziatwą i młodzieżą, Kościół kieruje nasze oczy ku św. Stanisławowi Kostce. Stanisław Kostka urodził się w Rostkowie koło Przasnysza w końcu grudnia 1550 r. W czternastym roku życia wraz ze starszym bratem Pawłem i pedagogiem Bilińskim wysłano go do Wiednia. Tam podjął naukę w gimnazjum cesarskim, prowadzonym przez Jezuitów. Był uczniem bardzo uzdolnionym i pilnym, dlatego robił duże postępy w nauce. Równocześnie prowadził głębokie życie religijne. Wkrótce zrodziło się w nim powołanie kapłańskie. Realizacji powołania sprzeciwiła się jednak rodzina. Stanisław postawił na swoim. W sierpniu 1567 r. opuścił potajemnie Wiedeń i udał się pieszo przez Bawarię do Rzymu. W październiku tegoż roku został przyjęty do Towarzystwa Jezusowego przez samego generała Jezuitów Franciszka Borgiasza. Nowicjat odbywał przy kościele św. Andrzeja na Kwirynale. Wszystkich zachwycił swoją duchowością, rozmodleniem i dojrzałością życiową. Wnet jednak zapadł na zdrowiu, zachorował na malarię i niespodziewanie zmarł 14 sierpnia 1568 r. Stosunkowo szybko rozpowszechnił się jego kult zarówno we Włoszech, jak i w Polsce. Stanisław został ogłoszony patronem młodzieży. Najpierw był czczony w dniu 13 listopada, zaś ostatnio czcimy go w liturgii Kościoła 18 września, łącząc jego osobę z jesiennym dniem modlitw za młodzież. Stanisław żył krótko – tylko 18 lat, ale tyle czasu mu wystarczyło, żeby dojrzeć duchowo. Jego świętość była owocem łaski Bożej i jego młodzieńczego wysiłku. Żadna siła, żadne przeszkody nie były w stanie powstrzymać go od zamierzonego celu. Nawet rodzice i rodzeństwo nie potrafili mu przeszkodzić w realizacji jego powołania kapłańskiego i zakonnego. Stanisław odznaczał się Bożym uporem w dążeniu do dobrych celów. Św. Stanisławowi przypisywane jest powiedzenie: „ad maiora natus sum” – „do wyższych rzeczy jestem stworzony”. Słowa te na pierwszy rzut oka można by zinterpretować niekorzystnie dla św. Stanisława. Można by w nich widzieć przejaw jakiejś pychy czy niezdrowej ambicji. Jednakże, w słowach tych kryje się wielka mądrość. Owe „maiora” – „wyższe rzeczy” – to są wyższe wartości. Wskazują one na maksymalizm etyczny. Zawarte jest w nich pragnienie dążenia do wyższych wartości duchowych i ich osiągania modlitwą i osobistym wysiłkiem. Tego typu program zalecają wybitni pedagodzy i wychowawcy. Młody człowiek winien widzieć ideały, wartości, godne zdobywania. Winny go one fascynować i mobilizować do wysiłku, by je w trudzie i znoju zdobywać. Ważne jest to, by chcieć stawać się dobrym, doskonałym, świętym. Dobre pragnienia są początkiem naszej drogi do duchowego sukcesu. Wspomniana dewiza życia św. Stanisława Kostki wiąże się jeszcze z inną zasadą ewangeliczną, mianowicie, że w drodze do osiągnięcia dobra trzeba umieć zapierać się samego siebie, brać na co dzień krzyż i naśladować Chrystusa (por. Mt 16,24).
