• I think it important to let kids be kids (especially at the younger high school grades) and a formal uniform will limit their ability to play at lunchtime (especially the girls - it's hard to run around in a dress and will discourage them from much needed physical activity). I think the sports uniform will at least allow the kids to run around and play games at lunchtime.

• Discipline with uniform creates an environment of discipline and high standards across the board.

• Having a strict uniform policy will set the bench mark for this new school, where everyone will be equal - non school branded clothing can lead to bullying.

• A high standard of dress must be complied with. Any variation and there will be people who take it to the enthdegree. Pride in the way someone looks is important and influences confidence etc. Having a uniform company who can make great quality at a good price increases the ability for them to last longer and look neat and tidy for longer. Any new starters in high school have a cost and the reality is paying for uniforms should be in a parents budget. Coloured hair, radical hair cuts including tracks, nail polish, fake nails, make-up etc is not appropriate at school. Hair to be worn up if longer than shoulder length for both males and females.

• This community wants the new school to be exceptional –including uniform. It absolutely defeats the purpose of some school branded items and then allowing variations in the winter – not only can this look scrappy, but can completely remove any identity with the school.

• Uniforms should also include shorts, jumpers, track suit pants in school colours which you are able to buy from Kmart, Big W etc. to help with costs for low income families, and single parent families. Costs for uniforms alone are a huge burden as with books and accessories

• I always find the parents who whinge the loudest regarding the cost of uniforms tend to have the latest iPhone and their children spend large amounts of money at the canteen and local shopping centre.

• Whilst I would prefer to purchase plain items at Kmart or Lowes I understand that many families will use this as an excuse to push the boundaries, therefore happy to support a head to toe uniform policy.

• If it is good enough for just about every high school in the area to have a strict uniform policy, why wouldn’t a brand new school be the same?
