Teaching Catechism Books

ScheduleYour schedule will depend on the amount of time that you spend teaching new questions/answers and the time you spend reviewing previous questions/answers.

Before ClassLesson Preparation: Nothing can replace the time a teacher spends in prayer with our Master Teacher, the Lord God Almighty. We also recommend that you read the Scriptures and lesson notes before class.

Supplies needed for teaching:

• Bible

• Dry erase board or chalk board

• Dry erase markers or chalk

• Colored pencils

• Lesson pages for each student

• Bible Dictionary

Teaching the Lessons

Teacher Preparation

Teacher Notes: The teacher notes are in green. The notes are intended to be used as a guide, but they may be read aloud to the students if desired. These notes will also be helpful for substitute teachers.

Bible Dictionary: We encourage you to have a Bible Dictionary handy to look up words in the Scriptures you will be reading. This will help you prepare for the to answer questions from your students.

Teacher Lesson Pages

Review Questions and Answers: As needed, review the previous questions and answers.

Asking Questions: Ask the question of your student. We encourage teachers to add their own questions as time allows. Reviews can be done verbally. We have left some additional pages at the end of this study for you to add your own questions and answers.

Reading the Verse: Most segments will have at least one verse related to the answer to the question. We have provided only a few references to get you started, but we hope you will add more verses of your own selection. If you have older children, you can have your children look verses up in conjunction with their answers. Some questions do not have a verse because of the nature of the question, so for those questions you will just need to explain the answer to the student.

Answering the Question: Initially you will give students the answers to the questions. We have provided an answer, but as the teacher you can have your students answer as you feel best. Answers to each question should be consistent each time the questions are reviewed.

Stick Figuring: Once the correct answer is revealed. You will stick figure the answer onto a white board or if you are using an electronic devise, you can show them the picture. Your students will then stick figure the answer into their books.

Simplifying the Stick Figures for Younger Students: Younger students may have a hard time drawing. If needed, we recommend simplifying the drawings. For example, instead of a stick man, have students just draw the face. This will allow younger students to keep up with older students and still draw the stick figures.

Writing the Answers: Once the stick figure answer has been drawn, then students can write out the answer. The answer pages are found on the back of the question and drawing page.

Student Lesson Pages

Question/Drawing Page : On the front side of the student page your students will stick figure the answer to the questions.

Answer Page : On the back side of the student page your students will write out the answer to the questions.
