    ANNOUNCEMENTS

Rtn. Kevin took a few minutes and shared with the members some information about his Club. It was charted in 1988 and currently has 27 members. It’s very proud of the fact that all of its members have PHF recognition certificates. Their major projects include; The Walkabout Brochure, The Heritage Walk and the Bribie Foreshore Heritage plaques. Tolearn more about what other activities, please visit their Club web site: http://rotarybribieisland.info/index.html

    - told the members that this week’s International Rotary Greeting Card will be sent to the RC of Bribie Island, QLD, Australia.

    - thanked Rtns. Detlev & Lusi for raising IDR 770,000 during their Sunday Brunch on Sunday, 8 March 2015. These funds will be donated to the Yayasan Senyum Bali (Bali Smile Foundation) http://www.senyumbali.org - showed a video about The Rotary Foundation (TRF) entitled ‘The Heart of Rotary’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1TT-fn872U

PP Anita said she felt this video said a lot about TRF and for us as members to think of the Foundation as the ‘Mother Ship’ of Rotary. .

The  mission  of  The  Rotary  Foundation  is  to  enable  Rotary  members  to  advance  world  understanding,  goodwill,  and  peace  through  the  improvement  of  health,  the  support  of  education,  and  the  alleviation  of  poverty.    The  Foundation  is  a  not-‐for-‐profit  corporation  supported  solely  by  voluntary  contributions  from  Rotary  members  and  friends  of  the  Foundation  who  share  its  vision  of  a  better  world.  This  support  is  essential  to  make  possible  projects,  funded  with  Foundation  grants,  that  bring  sustainable  improvement  to  communities  in  need.

Se continued and said that without our generous support (EREY – US$ 100), RI would not be able to support / offer the following programs:

Global  Polio  Eradication  (PolioPlus)  Rotary  Peace  Fellowships  District  and  Global  Grants  Long-‐term  Youth  Exchange  Rotary  Youth  Leadership  Awards  (RYLA)

For more details about TRF, please download / read - ‘Rotary Foundation Reference Guide’ (219-EN).

PP Anita finished her brief talk by saying to date - the RCBS members have contributed a total of US$ 14.960 to TRF – an ALL time record. However, to achieve our goal this year of having EVERY MEMBER contribute to TRF – only five more members need to find the time to do this. Time is running out, so let's hope these busy Rotarians contribute today.

Rtn. Sally took a few minutes and shared with the members her very pleasant Anantara Fellowship evening on Monday, 9 March 2015.

“Rtns. PP Anita, Peter E., Jan, Sally, Yasmina and Tara along with Guests Jenny Blackert, Mariella & her partner Tom enjoyed a very pleasant evening despite the ominous clouds hanging above the beach the rain stayed away and a light breeze blew!

The conversation become rather interesting once Mariella arrived and passed around a photo of a dress on her phone that had gone viral over the last few days. This led to an interesting discussion about right brain versus left brain, mathematical side vs. emotional side, shape of eyes etc. the spectrum. It was then that PP Anita noted an unusual shape of the sunset and each of us said what we thought it looked like from a nuclear explosion to a pink balloon. When we understood that Jenny was a Geologist & a Gemologist it lead to an amazing talk about diamonds and how to tell where they come from, i.e. Africa, Australia and Russia. Jenny further amazed us with her history of buying gems worldwide, from Mexico to Amsterdam. The GM of the Anantara, Clinton Lowell, popped down to say hullo and checked to see if all was well with us, but sadly he didn't have much time to enjoy the ambience before heading back to his office. As 19:30 came around the group broke up with Peter E. heading back to his restaurant, Lestari and the rest of us heading home to dinner or out for dinner. All agreed that it was a very good fellowship evening."
