xxxxxAzure Products, Services Update and offerings 01May

2015Microsoft have just announced the launch of Azure App Service, plus the general availability of Azure Backup and Azure API Management as well as other additional offerings.

What is Azure you ask? Azure in short, is Microsoft’s cloud platform: a growing collection of integrated services – computer, storage, data, networking and app – that help you move faster, do more and save money. But that’s just scratching the surface. Azure is the only major cloud platform ranked by Gartner as an industry leader for both infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS).

This powerful combination of managed and unmanaged services lets you build, deploy and manage applications any way you like for unmatched productivity.

To find out more about the Azure products and offerings and how it could work in your work place please visit here.

Enrolment for Windows Azure (EWA) is expiringMicrosoft have announced that as of the 1st July 2015, the Enrolment for Windows Azure (EWA) will be retired and rolled into the Server and Cloud Enrolment (SCE).

    See here for more details.

EWA will no longer be available for new customer agreements and current customers will be unable to renew into another EWA. Customers can keep their current EWA and buy under it until it reaches its end/expiry date.

Microsoft is retiring EWA to reduce redundant purchasing vehicles, and streamline the licensing experience.

To buy Microsoft Azure through SCE, customers make an installed based-side commitment to a SCE component. Microsoft Azure is automatically available when committing to the Core Infrastructure Platform, Application Platform, or Developer Platform in SCE and can also be licensed standalone through an Azure only SCE.

Windows Server 2003 support is ending

What does end of support mean for you? After the 14th July 2015, Microsoft will no longer issue security updates for any version of Windows Server 2003.

If you are still running Windows Server 2003 in your datacentre, you need to take steps now to plan and execute a migration strategy to protect your infrastructure. By migrating to Windows Server 2012 R2, Microsoft Azure or Office 365, you can achieve concrete benefits, including improved performance, reduced maintenance requirements, and increased agility and speed of response to the business.

Jan says: “Act now. Speak to your Licensing Consultant

    now before it’s too late.”

It has been announced that from 1st July 2015 on-premises User CAL pricing will increase by approximately 15%.  Microsoft have stated that they have  continued investments to support multi-device, cross-platform productivity scenarios which has increased the number of ways in which users access on-premises servers that are licensed with CAL Suites currently. Customers will continue to have the option to license CAL Suites with the choice of per-user or per-device and device CALs will see no change in pricing.  Similarly, customers that purchase the Enterprise Cloud Suite, will not be affected by the User CAL price increase, as per-user licensing is already incorporated into cost of the suite.

How it may affect you If you have licensed the Core CAL or Enterprise CAL suites within an Enterprise Agreement you will not be affected during the agreement term for pricing.

This price increase is across all on-premises CALs when licensed in a per user model.

What Insight can do There are ways in which you can license access to your on-premises server software whilst avoiding some of these price hikes by looking at the Cloud Suits such as Office 365 Enterprise, the Enterprise Mobility Suite and the Enterprise Cloud Suite which all provide access to both online services and on-premises Server software. In many cases this will not only avoid a potential price increases but may also result in the gaining of some additional enterprise functionality whilst making the switch.

Price Increase Alert. Microsoft User CAL Price Increase

Jan says: “Please don’t delay in contacting your

Account Manager for further information on your licensing requirements and needs.”

Public Sector Customers now have access to the new Microsoft Products and Services Agreement

Public Sector Government and Academic customers can take advantage of the new Volume Licensing agreement - Microsoft Products and Services Agreement (MPSA) launched on March 1, 2015 for standard Government and Academic customer alike.

The new Microsoft Products and Services Agreement (MPSA)

I want one simple agreement for software and services.“ ”

There should be an easier way to manage my Microsoft assets.“ ”

The new Microsoft Products and Services Agreement (MPSA) is a single agreement for your Online Services, software, and Software Assurance purchases across your organisation. It can save time and money by combining purchase points for the best price level and reducing the administrative overhead associated with managing multiple agreements.

The Microsoft Products and Services Agreement gives you more options - for example, the ability to create Purchasing Accounts.

Purchasing Accounts let you define how you want to purchase (by affiliate, division, department, or any other group you define in your organisation). You can then choose and provision the solution that your organisation needs. You are in control.

The new Microsoft Volume Licensing Center has an intuitive, easy-to-use interface that lets you quickly view and generate reports on everything purchased under the Microsoft Products and Services Agreement.

You can manage your portfolio of Microsoft products and services across your entire organisation. The Microsoft Volume Licensing Center also lets you self-provision online services, download software more quickly, access your volume license keys more easily, and efficiently manage and use your Software Assurance benefits.

    Select Plus is being retired01

    July

    2015

Is the MPSA right for your company? The MPSA is currently available in several countries/ regions1, with others being added regularly.

This agreement is recommended for commercial companies purchasing 250 or more licenses for online services or software, and that do not want an Enterprise Agreement.1. Currently the MPSA is available in Australia, Canada, European Union (EU) countries, European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries, Japan, and the United States. The MPSA is scheduled for release in Africa, most of Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East in early 2015.

The Microsoft Products and Services Agreement offers online services and software purchasing through a simpler and more flexible agreement compared to Select Plus, and will be available worldwide in July 2015. New Select Plus commercial agreements will no longer be sold starting July 1, 2015.

Enterprise Cloud Suite (ECS) In the modern workplace, employees are always connected and always moving. They have more devices with more data, and they expect tools to support ubiquitous collaboration.

IT needs a solution to help protect data, manage the growing number of mobile devices, unify environments that span operating systems, and enable seamless collaboration for workers across all their devices.

Now available as part of the Enterprise Enrolment, brings together Office 365 E3, Enterprise Mobility Suite, and Windows Software Assurance per user.

The combination of these three offerings empowers users with best-in-class productivity tools across devices while supporting IT security and control.

With Enterprise Cloud Suite, you can take advantage of:

    • Simplified cloud licensing in the Enterprise Enrolment.

    • True per user licensing that puts users at the center.• A compelling offer when buying cloud services.

How it worksEnterprise Cloud Suite is available as a User Subscription License (USL) or an Add-on license for the Enterprise Platform in the Enterprise Enrolment.

Enterprise Cloud Suite USL: For users who are not covered by an existing Enterprise Platform or who would like to transition to full user-based licensing at renewal. The USL lowers initial licensing costs because you subscribe to the rights to use Microsoft products and services instead of purchasing a perpetual license

Enterprise Cloud Suite Add-on: For users who are covered by an existing Enterprise Platform. The Add-on is a subscription that supplements your existing Enterprise Platform license position.

Server Cloud Suite How it worksTo enrol, you must make an installed-base commitment to one or more of the following four Server and Cloud Enrolment components:

This means committing to full Software Assurance coverage across the installed base of a Server and Cloud Enrolment component.

For the Core Infrastructure component, however, you commit to full System Center coverage on the Windows Server installed base through the Core Infrastructure Suites (CIS).

Microsoft Azure is automatically available when you are enroling in any of the other three components, and it can also be licensed standalone.

Enterprise Enrolment - Enterprise PlatformWith the Enterprise Enrolment, you get the best pricing when you make an organisation-wide commitment to the Enterprise Platform, which includes Office Professional Plus, CAL Suites, and Windows Enterprise.
