THEY SAY IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY: The Dodgers today continue
their 10-game homestand (0-1) with the middle contest of a three-
game series with the New York Mets. The loss last night, puts Los
Angeles’ home record at 27-14 (.659), just off the pace of the club’s
best-ever home mark of 55-27 in 1980. Following the games this
weekend, the Dodgers host the Phillies (4) and Brewers (3) before the
All-Star break.
Since 2000, the Dodgers are 9-6 on July 4, while outscoring
the opposition, 86-61.
Following the game this afternoon, the Dodgers welcome the
USO Show Troupe for a special musical performance that
will celebrate the United States. When night falls after the
show, a special July 4 Fireworks Show presented by Kurios
From Cirque Du Soleil will take place and fans are welcome
on the field.
The National Anthem will be performed by U.S. Coast
Guard Second Class Petty Officer Mike Dalager,
accompanied by Grand Funk Railroad guitarist Bruce
Kulick. Following the game, two bald eagles from the L.A.
Zoo will be released on the club level and fly to the field.
WHAT A DEAL: The Dodgers are celebrating Independence Day
weekend with a three-day ticket special that began yesterday. As part
of the special, all reserve level tickets are 50 percent off for the game
on Wednesday, July 8 against the Phillies while supplies last. The first
40,000 fans in attendance that evening will receive a Hello Kitty Plush
presented by Time Warner Cable. Complete details can be found by
visiting www.dodgers.com/special.
In addition to the ticket deal, the club is running merchandise
sales this holiday weekend, as all headwear will be $10 off
Friday through Sunday and logo baseballs, fan hands and
mini bats are 1 for $6, 2 for $11 or 3 for $15 over the series.

HALLELUJAH: The Dodgers’ Howie Kendrick swiped second base
in the sixth inning last night, giving the club its’ first stolen base since
June 7, a span of 23 games. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, that
23-game streak was the longest in modern franchise history.
Kendrick went 0-for-4, snapping a seven-game hitting
streak, but is still hitting .438 (14-for-32) with two doubles, a
home run and eight RBI since June 25.
Kendrick is batting a team-best .369 with runners in scoring
position (11th, NL) this season (24-for-65).
GREAT D AND SOLID (HOME) RUN GAME: With Adrian
Gonzalez’s solo homer last night, Los Angeles has hit a National
League-best 103 home runs, 13 more than the Cincinnati Reds, and
also continues to lead the circuit with 291 walks (1st MLB), a .330 on-
base percentage and a .430 slugging percentage.
The Dodgers are tied with the Marlins for the best fielding
percentage in the Majors with a .989 mark. That percentage
is on pace to set the top mark in franchise history (.988,
2004), and Los Angeles has also committed the fewest errors
of any big league team with 32.
Center fielder Joc Pederson leads the team and is tied for
fifth in the NL with 20 home runs. According to STATS,
LLC, the Rookie of the Year candidate is just the eighth
rookie in baseball history to reach 20 homers by July 4,
joining his hitting coach, Mark McGwire (28, 1987), Jose
Abreu (26, 2014), Al Rosen (25, 1950), Wally Berger (22,
1930), Bob Allison (21, 1959), Albert Pujols (21, 2001) and
Dave Kingman (20, 1972).
PICK UP AN EXTRA START: Dodger right-hander, All-Star shoo-
in and possible candidate to start the Midsummer Classic Zack
Greinke will make his 17th start of the season this afternoon in search
of his seventh victory (6-2). Greinke’s 1.58 ERA leads the Major
Leagues by a wide margin and he also ranks among the National
League leaders in opponents’ batting average (.203, 4th), innings
pitched (108.1, T-3rd
) and WHIP (0.91, 2nd
).
Greinke is 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA (9 ER/26.0 IP) in four career
starts against the Mets, including a victory in his only start
against New York at Dodger Stadium last August (7.0 IP, 3
ER). Just two Mets have more than nine career at-bats
against Greinke: Curtis Granderson (8-for-45, .178) and
Michael Cuddyer (10-for-40, .250).
According to Aaron Charlton, Nolan McNair and the gang at
STATS, LLC, Greinke is just the fifth Dodger pitcher since
1914 to record at least three consecutive sub-2.00 ERA
months in a season. Those who missed a month or did not
pitch at least 25 innings in a month broke the streak.
Dodgers – 3+ Consecutive Sub-2.00 ERA Months in a Season,

Zack Greinke 3 straight April-June, 2015

Sandy Koufax 4 straight April-July, 1966
Sandy Koufax 3 straight June-August, 1964

Dodger pitchers rank third in the Majors with a 3.25 ERA,
while leading the NL in strikeouts (705) and ranking second
on the circuit in WHIP (1.19).
#ASGWORTHY: The Dodgers find out tomorrow if they had a
starter elected to the All-Star Game July 14 in Cincinnati. The reserves
for the contest will be announced Monday on ESPN and several
Dodgers have put up strong cases, including Adrian Gonzalez, Howie
Kendrick, Yasmani Grandal, Zack Greinke, Clayton Kershaw,
Kenley Jansen, Justin Turner and Joc Pederson.
WARM AND FUZZY: With the loss by the Cardinals last night, the
Dodgers are now the only team in baseball not to suffer a four-game
losing streak this season. In fact, the Dodgers haven’t dropped four
consecutive games since doing so from Sept. 13-16, 2013.
