Inspection Notes
- The BIN Plate is located on the end face of Pier 1 below Girder G1 and is in good condition.
- The Girders of double leaf bascule Span 2 received 100% hands-on inspection. These girders are non-redundant as thefailure of one girder would result in the collapse of half the span. The floorbeams are spaced less than 12 ft. apart and aretherefore not fracture critical. See Special Emphasis Sketch attached. This bridge is a Complex Bridge with moveable bridgetrunnions located in Span 1 and Span 3 for the bascule in Span 2.
- 100% of the underside of deck of Spans 1 and 3 (Span 2 is an open deck bascule) was visually inspected andapproximately 10% was sounded. There was no loose/delaminated concrete found.
- At Span 3 inside control tower, drain is clogged with water ponding up to 6'. See Photo 24.
- The steel bascule span superstructure is composed of four non-redundant cantilever girders with transverse floorbeamsbetween them. The floorbeams support stringers which in turn, support the open steel grid deck. The middle third of allfloorbeams are reinforced excluding FB1, FB5 and FB6. The bascule 4 girders adjacent to Pier 1 extend over the trunnioninto Span 1 and supports the counter weight adjacent to the Begin Abutment. The bascule girders adjacent to Pier 2 alsoextends into Pier3 over the trunnion and supports the counter weight in Span 3
- All Standard Photos have been updated.
-Quantities may have changed from the original assessment due to field verification.
-Joint Worksheet is attached.
- Noticeable vibration of the superstructure was observed when heavy trucks are crossing the bridge.
- Hydraulics Form is attached
- In the 2015 Report there was CMR issued for the end approach's light pole at the left sidewalk (light pole had its base
** Elements with a prefix designate the locations of BA-Begin Abutment, BW-Begin Wingwall, EA-End Abutment, EW-EndWingwall, CO-Culvert Outlet, and PR-Pier. No prefix generally indicates the element is part of the superstructure.
