Eligibility – who can apply.

Broadly speaking, in order to apply you need to :- Be a not-for-profit voluntary or community organisation (also can

be referred to as “Third Sector organisation” or “Civil Society organisation) – for example Registered Charities, Residents’ Associations, Community Interest Companies.

Have an organisational Bank or Building Society Account with two non-related signatories.

Have a constitution or similar document that states what the aims & objectives of the organisation are, and how the organisation manages itself.

Work in, or provide services for residents/communities of, Newcastle-under-Lyme.

There may be exceptions – if you are not sure whether you can apply, please ask.

Broadly speaking, the following cannot apply:-

x Private sector businesses.x Individuals.x Public sector organisations.x Organisations seeking funding for activities

that are not for residents/communities of Newcastle-under-Lyme.

x Projects that have received a grant in 2 successive years have to take a break for 1 year before they can apply again.

There may be exceptions – if you are not sure whether you can apply, please ask.

We cannot fund the following:-

x Religious activities, although we can fund the community activities of faith groups.

x Political activity, or the promotional of personal objectives.

x Activity that that is not consistent with Newcastle Borough Council's corporate objectives.

x Activities that take place abroad.x Activities that have already taken place

(retrospective applications).x Organisations that have failed to return a

completed Evaluation Form if a grant has previously been received.

Basic advice.

Complete all sections of application form appropriately.

Fill in your application legibly so that it can be read.

Supply additional documents requested.

Check deadlines for submission of applications.

Ensure that your application has been received, and keep a copy of your application.

of date form – your application will be returned and you will be asked to re-submit.

x Assume that we know about your organisation or your project.

x Assume that your application has been successful until you receive the formal written notification from us.

x Fail to complete an Evaluation Form at the end of the activity/project if you receive a grant.

x Submit duplicate applications to more than one of grant schemes.

• Managed in partnership with 16 Locally Based Bodies – Parish/Town Councils, Community Centres. Budget apportioned on broadly a per-head of population basis.
