Libraries Rock! The 2018 SUMMER READING PROGRAM is almost over!
This year, the statewide summer reading theme is “Libraries Rock!” The children have been making musical
instruments and noisemakers...lots of loud fun! Prizes will be awarded for
most minutes read and reading logs MUST be turned in No Later than Satur-
day, August 4, 2018 in order to be eligible.
Adult readers have rocked this summer during the Adult Summer Reading Pro-
gram! As of press time, 57 adults have signed up and lots of reviews have
been turned in for prizes. The drawing will be Saturday, August 4. Ten lucky
readers will win $25 gift certificates to “The Bookshop” in Morehead City.
One reader will enjoy a $25 gift certificate to “Riverside Pizza and Subs” in Newport. Other prizes include
free yogurt at “Brrrberry” and $10 gift cards for “Pizza Hut” and “Subway”.
We have ROCKed some great books this
summer at Newport Public Library!
Our summer readers are Rocking and Rolling!
For those who have turned in their reading logs by the 4th, prizes will be ready for
pickup starting Monday, August 6. NO EXCEPTIONS.
As for August… Summer reading wrap up by the 4th. As of press time, theme for the rest of the month is a
mystery, but rumor has it that “back to school” fun will be happening!

The Newport Public Library is a
branch of the Craven-Pamlico-Carteret
Regional Library system. The library
has been serving the citizens of New-
port since 1961, beginning in the New-
port Elementary School band room and
then relocating to the Newport Fire De-
partment. The present facility was
dedicated November 1, 1987 and cur-
rently has an inventory of 28,000
books.
