aqUa zUMBaClasses held at the Newport Pool Mondays 8:00 – 9:00 a.m.Admission free with annual membership to the Pool or Rec. Centeror by paying current drop-in feeInstructor: Shannon RackowskiZumba, the Latin-based dance and exercise phenomena has taken its moves to the water. Like its land counterpart, Aqua

Zumba is fused with all the great Latin beats and sounds, and is pinched with flavors of hip-hop, country, rock, soul, and other ethnic music. Zumba in the water takes on a whole new environment: tempo, range of motion, center of gravity, body weight (10%), and of course, the water’s protective quality with less impact to joints or injuries of an individual. Aqua Zumba will be taught by Shannon Rackowski who has more than 25 years experience in the fitness industry.

ina, flexibility, gracefulness, and is a great de-stressor. Belly Dancing promotes self-confidence and a positive self-image, and it is a creative aerobic and toning workout that helps strengthen the core.

Lia encourages women of all ages and sizes to enjoy this expressive dance form.  She has been dancing in this style – Gypsy (Roma) - for many years.  Lia was introduced to this style as a little girl by the Roma in her native Romania.  She later moved with her family to Israel, where she learned Israeli folk dancing.

Lia teaches belly dancing for credit at Metropolitan State College of Denver, Colorado as well as public classes. She also performs with “The Divine Gypsy Troupe” in the Denver area.

This race is characterized by gnarly hill climbs, both the bike and the run course feature some seriously fun and challenging hills, and if we could add a hill to the swim, we would!
