Quips and Quotes

A young man, who was an avid golfer, found himself with a few hours to spare one afternoon. He

d5> figured he could Rick Mitchell get in nine holes

before he had to

head home. Just as he was about to tee off, an elderly gentleman strolled up and asked if he could accompany the young man since he was golfing alone.

Not being able to say no, the young man allowed the old guy to join him. To his surprise, the old man played quite quickly. He didn't hit the ball far, but plodded along consistently and didn't waste much time.

Finally, they reached the ninth fairway, and the young man found himself faced with a tough shot. There was a large pine tree right in front of his ball and directly between his ball and the green. After several minutes of debating how to hit the shot, the old man finally said, "You know, when I was your age, I'd hit the ball right over that tree."

With that challenge placed before him, the young man swung hard, hit the ball up, right smack into the tree, and then it thudded back on the ground not a foot from where it was to begin with. The old man winked and said "Of course, when I was your age, that tree was only three feet tall."

Matthew 25: Ministries

March 1, 1999 Dear Ohio State ATI Staff Coucil,

This letter is to acknowledge and thank you for your cash contribution to the Nicaraguan Relief Fund. Your contribution has been placed in a special account of Matthew 25: Ministries. As a 501(c)(3) your contribution is fully tax deductible.

Matthew 25: Ministeries is assisting Alberto Bolanos and the Undergraduate Student Government at the Ohio State University with the Nicaraguan Relief effort because of our not for profit status. The Undergraduate Student Government and Alberto's grandfather, Enrique Bolanos, Vice President of Nicaragua, will determine where best the funds should go to relieve the suffering in Nicaragua caused by Hurricane Mitch. In a future issue of the "Least of These" newsletter, we will give you an update on the distribution of these funds.

In closing, let me say that we at Matthew 25: Ministries have been very impressed with Alberto Bolanos and Marty Lanning. They are two most committed and capable young men. We have also been impressed with the generosity of the Ohio State University community.

God's Blessings,

~~
