$1185 during the sixweek period of Lent. This year, the church gave $16,265! In addition, through amember's connection with Kroger, the Anderson TownCenter store adds 10% to that number. As a result ofKroger's additional contribution, IPM will receive$17,890.60 on behalf of Newtown UMC, a 105 memberchurch. That translates to over $170 given permember.

Newtown doesn't just present a check to IPM, theythen purchase food supplies at Kroger and transportand unload the bounty at InterParish Ministry. What's going on at YOUR church? Send an emailto [email protected] so we can share yourstory here and inspire others to service!

10 THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER SAY TO A GUESTMay 6, 2015, thomranier.com

If you want to makecertain guests neverreturn to your church, say one of thesesentences to themwhen they visit. Indeed, theseunfortunate and illtimed commentsalmost alwaysguarantee that youwill offend guests andmake them veryuncomfortable. Mostof the time guests arealready ill at easesince they are in anew place and a new

environment. By the way, each of these quotes wasactually communicated to a guest in a worshipservice. My guess is that all ten of them have beensaid many times . . . too many times.
