Note:

Text preceded by this image contains extra notes.

Example:

Examples are highlighted by this symbol.

Tip:

Useful tips to facilitate your interaction with the program are presented after this image.

• User interface elements are marked in bold (and blue) so they can immediately be located in the text.

• Italic text provides particularly important information that you should definitely pay attention to.

• Code examples, directory names, and direct input (among other elements) are displayed in a non-proportional font.

• Function keys, keyboard keys, and buttons within the program are shown in square brackets (e.g., [F1] for the "F1" function key).

• To improve the flow of the text, we often use "menu paths" in this document (for example, Help > Contents). In order to find a particular program function, the menus and options shown in a menu path must be selected in the sequence shown. For example, the menu path mentioned above calls up the EPLAN help system.

New Features and Fixes for the Entire EPLAN Platform

Performance Improvements

Accelerated Connection Updating

In the case of large projects with lots of shields, performance problems could arise when working with the graphical editor. As not all the shields in the project will be accessed when updating the connections for a page, this hotfix represents a marked performance improvement for projects of this type.

Updating Navigators after Activating a Filter

In the new version, when you activate filters for the navigators using known filter criteria (trade, representation type, etc.), the image is now updated much more quickly. The time required for lists, and especially tree views, to be redisplayed in the associated navigator dialog has been reduced.

Data Backup

Improved Error Detection during Data Backup

With this hotfix, EPLAN is providing you with improved error detection during data backup. When backing up and restoring projects and master data, a check is now carried out to see whether all the files are available.

If an error occurs or the data is incomplete, the backup process is can-celed. An appropriate message appears in the system messages in this case. If this message does not help you, please contact support.

New Features and Fixes for the Entire EPLAN Platform

EPLAN NEWS 1.9 International SP 1 HF 1 11

Print

Page Information not Modified when Printing

When project pages are being printed, page properties (such as Modi-fication date (automatic), Last editor: Logon name etc.), which are stored as special texts on the relevant plot frame, are now no longer changed.

Page Navigator

Representation of Pages with Substructures

If your project uses substructures and you activate the Detached representation of substructures setting, the page navigator now correctly sorts the pages with substructures in the main structure.

Graphical Editor

Jump to Counterpiece

If, for example, you jump to a counterpiece (PLC connection points, interruption points, etc.) using the [F] key, the jump target is no longer selected.

DXF / DWG Export of Graphics

The DXF / DWG export of graphics in the data area of dynamic forms has been improved with this hotfix. The way jumpers, for example, are represented in the exported DXF / DWG files now corresponds to how they are shown in the graphical editor.

Block Names During DXF / DWG Export

The use of the special characters <>/\":;?*|,=' in block names is not

permitted in AutoCAD. When exporting DXF / DWG files, these charac-ters are therefore now replaced by a permitted character, the underscore (_).

Page 12: News EPLAN 19 SP1 HF1 en USeplan.rittbul.bg/.../NEWS/2010-01-18_News_EPLAN_19_SP1_HF1_en_US.pdf · EPLAN NEWS 1.9 International SP 1 HF 1 7 Preface Dear EPLAN users, We are delighted

New Features and Fixes for the Entire EPLAN Platform

12 EPLAN NEWS 1.9 International SP 1 HF 1

Note:

This constraint does not apply to the names of block attributes. Attribute names are therefore exported exactly as they were entered by the user.

Faster PDF Export

The PDF export of projects and individual, selected pages is now much faster compared with version 1.9 SP 1. Additional corrections have also been made to the PDF export. Hyperlinks on report pages (e.g. summa-rized parts list) now also work from the exported PDF document.

Devices

User-Defined Position of the Property Dialog

The user-defined position and size of the Property dialog for the devices and the position of the cursor in the dialog are now retained when the dialog is terminated. The result is the same, irrespective of whether this dialog is opened again by double-clicking or by using the [Enter] key.

Double-Clicking Grouped Functions

If you have used the menu item Group to group together a main function comprising one or more auxiliary functions, then double-clicking this group will now open the Property dialog of the main function.

Page 13: News EPLAN 19 SP1 HF1 en USeplan.rittbul.bg/.../NEWS/2010-01-18_News_EPLAN_19_SP1_HF1_en_US.pdf · EPLAN NEWS 1.9 International SP 1 HF 1 7 Preface Dear EPLAN users, We are delighted

EPLAN NEWS 1.9 International SP 1 HF 1 13

Part Selection

Transferring the Part Number of the Assembly into the Part Reference Data

If you have activated the Break up assembly check box in the user-defined settings for the part selection, an assembly will be broken up when it is selected during part selection. For the device in question, the individual part numbers for the assembly are listed on the Part tab in the Property dialog. For each individual part number, the part number of the assembly (the Assembly <20905> property) is now also transferred to the part reference data.

The same applies to the selection of parts when inserting devices (e.g. using Insert > Device). Here too, the part number of the assembly is transferred for the parts of the broken-up assembly.

Direct Input of Data in Conflict Dialog

Data (such as the function group, the part group, etc.) that you have entered directly into the various tabs of the Conflict dialog during part selection are now also transferred into the part reference data of the relevant Property dialog.

Structure Identifier Management

Deleting Structure Identifiers

It is no longer possible to accidentally delete lines with the designation "<Empty identifier>" in the Identifiers dialog. The problems that this caused have now been fixed.

Page 14: News EPLAN 19 SP1 HF1 en USeplan.rittbul.bg/.../NEWS/2010-01-18_News_EPLAN_19_SP1_HF1_en_US.pdf · EPLAN NEWS 1.9 International SP 1 HF 1 7 Preface Dear EPLAN users, We are delighted

Project Data Navigators

Displaying Project Data in the Navigators

Problems with the representation of the project structure in the Device navigator (and other Navigator dialogs) have been fixed. If all the check boxes that control how the project structure is shown are activated in the Settings: Project structure dialog, function templates and functions will now also be displayed at the lowest level of the relevant navigator.

Connection Point Logic when Placing Part Macros

If you place part macros from the device navigator or insert them as devices from the part master data navigator, the connection point logic of the macro in question is retained.

Macros

Retaining Properties when Exchanging Macro Variants

Using a macro box inserted with the macro, you can exchange an inserted macro for another. If you select the menu item Popup menu > Exchange / rotate / update macro and exchange the macro for another variant, the previously inserted properties (Displayed DT, Function text) will now be retained.

Note:

To enable previously defined properties to be carried over when exchanging macro variants, functions with the same function definitions must be present in the macro variants. If the macro contains a number of functions with identical function definitions, the positions of each of these functions are compared and those with the most appropriate spacing are assigned to each other.

Example:

If there is a motor with the definition Three-phase motor in both variant

A and variant B of a macro, the properties already defined for the motor

(Displayed DT: -M1, Technical characteristics: 7.5KW) are retained if

these variants are exchanged.

EPLAN NEWS 1.9 International SP 1 HF 1 15

Generating Macros from a Macro Project

Macros can now again be generated from a macro project using the menu item Utilities > Generate macros > Automatically from macro project.

Defined Devices

Taking Account of Modules when Inserting Defined Devices

The modules in parts management are now also taken into account when inserting defined devices. If you have created a module in parts management and a macro is available for it, then when the module is inserted as a device the macro is scanned to see whether it contains any functions to which the part numbers apply. The upshot is that not only is the module part entered in the black box, the module sub-parts are also transferred to the placed functions in the macro.

Symbol Editor

Self-Defined Layers in Symbols

Problems occurred with self-defined layers when editing symbols and placing properties in the symbol editor. These have now been fixed. The layers are now correctly displayed in the symbol editor and the Property dialog.

Page 16: News EPLAN 19 SP1 HF1 en USeplan.rittbul.bg/.../NEWS/2010-01-18_News_EPLAN_19_SP1_HF1_en_US.pdf · EPLAN NEWS 1.9 International SP 1 HF 1 7 Preface Dear EPLAN users, We are delighted

Reports

Breaking-up of Assemblies in the Part Reports

The Up to level parameter in the part reports settings is now taken into account again when breaking up assemblies. This field enables you to specify the hierarchical level up to which assemblies in the "Parts list" and "Summarized parts list" reports can be broken down.

Sorting the Parts List

A correction has been made to one of the sort settings for the output of the parts list. The sort order of the parts list now remains the same after the update.

Output of Headings in Dynamic Forms

When using dynamic forms, the data in the header area may be output differently compared with the previous version (EPLAN 1.9). The reason for this is the fact that the properties in the standard forms have changed.

Note:

If you are using dynamic forms and want to output data in the header

area, a value of 1, 2, etc., must be entered in the form properties for the

Generate data headers for the first x sorting properties <13060> property. This will be the case for most standard forms. To enable sort properties such as "Higher-level function" or "Mounting location" to be used to generate a new header area, then an appropriate sorting scheme must be selected and activated in the Sorting field when the report is generated in the Filter / sorting dialog.

Outputting Labeling

Creating a Labeling Scheme

The problems that arose when creating a new labeling scheme have been fixed.

Outputting Labeling Automatically

If labels are output during automated processing as a result of using Utilities > Automated processing > Run, it is no longer necessary to first update the project connections.

External Editing

Outputting Supplementary Fields when Exporting Connections

If you use Utilities > Edit properties externally to export connections so they can be edited externally, the values of completed supplementary

fields will also be output if you have selected a txt file as the file type of

the target file.

Parts Management

Updating the Parts Database

The menu item Utilities > Parts > Parts database --> current project now again allows the parts held in the project to be updated with data from the parts database.

Note:

Bear in mind that since version 1.9, part synchronization using this menu item has been dependent on the selection. If part synchronization is to be performed over the entire project, first select the project name, for example, in the page navigator.

Width of Mounting Rails During Parts Management with SQL Database

If you create a new part in parts management for the product subgroup "Mounting rail", the values entered in the Width top and Width bottom fields on the Mounting rail tab will now also be saved if you use an SQL database on an SQL server as the parts database.

Placing Devices from the Part Master Data Navigator

If you used the [Shift] + [Tab] key combination to "scroll" through the functions when placing devices from the part master data navigator, under certain conditions the "incorrect" device tags were assigned for auxiliary functions. All placed functions are now correctly numbered.

Message Management

Updating Message Management After Deleting the Display

After removing the displayed messages from message management using Popup menu > Delete display, the message management display can now be updated again by carrying out a check run. Choose the menu item Popup menu > Check run from the Message management - <project name> dialog.

Shields not Captured in Check Run 007006

Shields are now ignored in check run "007006" (with the message "Function without connection point designation").

Terminals / Plugs

DT Adoption for Terminals

When you now insert the terminals of a terminal strip in the graphical editor, DT adoption works without any problems. The first terminal is given a new displayed DT and the remaining terminals in the search direction use the DT from the first terminal.

Terminal Reports

In the previous version, EPLAN 1.9 SP 1, errors occurred in some termi-nal diagrams and terminal-connection diagrams. These have now been fixed with this hotfix. In the terminal diagram, for instance, automatic page description is now output again correctly and the conductor colors are shown correctly in the cable chart.

Cables

Numbering Cables

Cable numbering errors associated with the preview of results have been fixed.

New Features in the "PLC & Bus Extension" Add-on

Note:

The "PLC & Bus Extension" add-on is not included in the standard scope of delivery and must be licensed separately.

Export and Import of Channel Designation

When exchanging PLC data in the PLC standard exchange format, the wrong term was used for the Channel designation (automatic) property in the configuration file. This has been corrected in this latest version.

Using the Configuration Value in PLC Address Formats

A configuration value set in the PLC address format is now used again when addressing PLC connection points.

You can use the configuration value as a start value for the counter of the first PLC connection point when addressing different PLC properties (Group, Rack, etc.).

If a configuration value is used in the address format and the cards being addressed have a valid and standard configuration value, then the addresses will be consolidated – even across a number of cards. The counter is incremented sequentially, starting from the configuration

value (e.g. 25). When the end value is reached (e.g. 25.7), the start

value specified by the configuration value is increased by one and addressing continues (new addresses, e.g. 26.0 ... 26.7, etc.).

If there is no configuration value in the address format, the start address specified in the Readdress PLC connection points dialog is used for addressing purposes. In this case the addresses will not be consolidated and the counter restarts with each new card (new addresses, e.g. 25.0,

25.1, 26.0, 26.1, etc.).

Note:

The addresses will not be consolidated if the cards to be addressed do not have a standard configuration value, or have one that is blank or invalid. If the configuration value is blank or invalid, the start address from the Readdress PLC connection points dialog, or the most recently used address, will be used for addressing purposes.

New Features and Corrections in the "API Extension" Add-on

22 EPLAN NEWS 1.9 International SP 1 HF 1

New Features and Corrections in the "API Extension" Add-on

Note:

The "API Extension" add-on is not included in the standard scope of delivery and must be licensed separately.

A unified, and especially high-performance, programming interface (API, Application Programming Interface) is available for EPLAN platform products. This add-on – the EPLAN API – allows you to develop your own tailor-made solutions in collaboration with EPLAN or other partners. The following sections provide information on the various new features of the EPLAN API.

Printing Filtered Pages

The print operation now also takes the USEPAGEFILTER parameter into

account. This means that you can now just print out those pages that remain after a page filter has been applied.

Connection Point Logic Properties

EPLAN API now also allows you to define various connection point logic properties (connection point type, potential type, etc.) using the Pin

class.

Number of Filtered Parts from the Bill of Materials Navigator

The GetArticleReferencesWithFilterSchema method in the

DMObjectsFinder class now provides the same number of part

references as are displayed in the filtered bill of materials navigator.

Activation Number

If you have already activated version 1.9 SP 1, then you do not need a new activation number.

If this is the case, then you can also download this hotfix from the follow-ing Internet page:

http://www.eplan.de/d/service/support_eplan/

In contrast to this, users with activation of older EPLAN versions require a new activation number. This is provided on the delivery note sent with your storage medium.

Installation

Warning:

Data of previous versions generated with the EPLAN platform can still be used in the latest version. Data edited with the latest version of the program cannot always be used with earlier versions due to extensions to the program. We explicitly advise against using different program versions on the same data.

The EPLAN platform products can now also be installed on the "Windows Vista Enterprise", "Windows Vista Business N", and "Windows Vista Ultimate" operating systems (see "Approved Client Operating Systems" on page 28).

In the installation wizard you can now define whether the application is to be installed for Anyone who uses this computer or Only for me. For a new installation this results in a different directory structure.

The directory structure for Anyone who uses this computer stores the sample data in a public folder. If you select the Only for me option, then this data is stored in the user-specific area of the user currently logged on.

Note:

Please note that this setting cannot be subsequently changed.
