Director regarding up and coming changes to the Re-Organization of GWRRA.

================================================= Dave’s drivel,
HOWDY FOLKS! Just a note from us. Nothing much going on around the house. I dropped Judy off at
the ER and am home getting this around for y’all. We’re trying to find out what is happening with her to
see if “maybe” she’s got chicken pox?
I’ve started riding a bit now as Doc released me and I let PT talk me into not going back unless . . . . . .
If you want Judy and I to continue as your CD’s we REALLY need someone to step-up and fill some of the
empty positions on page one (1).
Please let us know your thoughts,

================================================= Treasurers Report:
School Supplies Donation Below is a thank you note from the Union County Family Connection which
accepted the much needed donation of schools supplies for their students. Thanks
to all of the Chapter J members who donated.
In addition, we are thanked on the Union County Family Connection website:
“Thanks to donations from many of our community partners, including Walmart, Coosa United Methodist,
Church of Christ, First Baptist, 9th District Opportunities, Kiwanis, Adult Probation and the Goldwing
Motorcycle Club, we are able to provide school supplies, backpacks, hygiene items, and clothing to many of
our students in need.”
Christmas Donations
At the September 2017 Chapter J gathering, we discussed the Annual Garage Sale, which is normally held in
October. The proceeds go towards our annual Christmas donation fund. It was decided by the members that
we would not hold the garage sale this year but would instead give cash/check donations towards our
Christmas donation fund. Earlier this year, members decided the annual Christmas donation fund would be
evenly divided to Union County’s “Shop with a Cop” and Towns County’s “Empty Stocking Fund”.
The “Shop with a Cop” is where Officers and employees from the Blairsville Police Department join members
of the community during the Christmas season to take under-privileged children shopping with funds provided
by the Community. The Union County Family Connection works closely with the Police Department in
providing families that are in need of assistance.

The “Empty Stocking Fund” takes proceeds and purchases gifts for underprivileged children in Towns County,
children who might not receive Christmas gifts due to financial hardships.
Donations will be accepted at the Chapter J picnic on October 7, 2017 and the Chapter J gatherings on October 21 and
November 18, 2017.

Activity Directors Report: Hello everyone,
Our annual picnic is coming up on the 7th of Oct which is just a little over a
month away. I'll have a sign-up sheet for salads and desserts for attendees at
the next meeting. The Chapter will again provide the fried chicken so we will
need a head count by meeting time also. Please plan on coming, it's always a
fun time to enjoy each other's company play some games and "EAT!" Among
other games, Barb Schleicher came up with a terrific idea of each of us bringing
a baby picture to post up on a board and we'll all try and guess who's who! What do you think? So please
reserve the 7th of October for our Annual Picnic at Meek's Park, 12:00 PM.
Thanks,

================================================= Indiana Chapter "O" Annual Ride
With
Chapter "GA J" hosting on Wednesday, 9/20/17 By
Dennis Bible
Fred & Carol Henige, Nick & Sandy George, Jack Gotlieb and I met at the Young Harris Citgo
Station for an 08:30 rollout for Franklin, NC., where we were to meet the Indiana Chapter "O" riders at
the Franklin Walmart. John Roberts and Dave & Judy Hurd also met us there.
Indiana showed up right at 10:00 so after introductions and some minor organization of groups,
we headed for lunch at the Twin Dragons in Brevard, NC. Fred & Carol were the only ones with a CB radio
in our group and were able to coordinate with the Indiana folks to keep us all together. We headed
South on Hwy 28 for about 8 miles then turned West on Sugar Fork to Ellijay Road. Several miles of
climbing twisties got us to the gap where the road becomes "Tilley Creek Rd" for the decent to
Speedwell, NC. We took a comfort break there, then continued South on Hwy 107 to Tuckasegee, NC.,
where we turned Southwest on Hwy 281. Hwy 281 winds around through the mountains for about 15 miles
on its way to Lake Toxaway, NC., where we picked up Hwy 64 East to Brevard and lunch.
Lunch at the Twin Dragons is never a disappointment! The group got kinda quiet as the food kept
coming!
After lunch, we said "goodbye" to our Indiana friends and promised to meet them again next year!
By then it was about 2 PM and our Chapter "J" group headed home via Cashiers, Franklin (John split for
home there) and Hayesville and home!
Indiana had 15 bikes/trike with 25 riders, Chapter "J" had 5 bikes/trikes and 7 riders. With
Dave & Judy that gave us 9. Total was 20 bikes/trikes and 34 riders!
230 miles and about 10 hours.
Fun Ride!

=================================================Hi Newton! Well, my wife and I have gone full-circle and decided it’s time to
downsize. Everything. This explains why our current 2-wheel travel is now taking place on
a pair of Vespas instead of the Gold Wing. So it’s time to put our 2007 GL1800 w/ABS
and Navi up for sale.
This bike is in A++ superior condition. It’s been dealer maintained and garage kept since
new. It’s never been dropped, dinged, scratched or muffed up in any way. I’m the second
owner and have all the records — the first owner was a guy named “Koichi Honda” who
worked at Honda in South Carolina. No kidding! He bought it new there.
Before I take it to a dealer for an easy sale at trade-in value, I thought I’d let you know
about it in case there’s a member of Chapter B (or other Chapter?) that is in the market
for a sweet Gold Wing but hasn't found one at a sweet price yet. I’d much rather have a
Wing enthusiast get it than a dealer buying it from me cheap just so they could resell it
to someone at a couple $K mark up. Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com) values a 2007 GL1800
HPNA at $9480 (Trade-In) and $13,040 (Retail) assuming the bike is in average condition
with average miles. There’s no up-value noted in KBB for the addition of after market
accessories. My Gold Wing is in near mint condition, has much lower than “average" miles,
and has a significant investment ($1K- $2K) in accessories. If a Chapter member is
interested, I’ll sell it to them for the KBB Trade-In value ($9480).
Please forward this message along to anyone that may like the inside scoop if that’s
appropriate. My contact information is at the very bottom after the photos.
Thank You!
-Chip
