Team Leader of the District 6330 OutboundGroup Study Exchange to Colombia this year.

Stan wasraised on afarm in southOntario, was agraduate of theUniversity ofTorontomajoring inMechanicalEngineering

and is a teacher of math and science. Since1970, he has operated a farm near St. Mary'sOntario and in 1993 he began a decade ofagricultural technology transfer with theformer Soviet Union.When time permits, Stan can be found at hisself­built cottage near Bancroft, Ontario.Stan's emphasis is education, leading tounderstanding and peace in the world andsees Rotary as a vehicle to this end.Come join us this Tuesday at noon forlasagna, vegetables, tossed salad, garlicbread and dessert at the Redwood Lodge.

Eileen Goff is an outstanding senior student whodisplays great citizenship in all aspects. She is aNational Honor Society and a Marching Bandmember and holds the first chair for flute in theWind Ensemble. She is also involved in thetutoring program, YIKES program, Key Club,Drama Club, Science Olympiad and is active inthe Swartz Creek United Methodist Churchyouth group. Eileen is the kind of student thatdeserves to be GVR Student of the Month.

Jeffrey is thelead of the school band drum line while Brandonleads the new color guard. Brandon hasnarrowed his future college choices to eitherYale or Saginaw Valley State University.Genesee Valley Rotary salutes both of theseexcellent students and future leaders.

Present: Sally Shaheen Joseph, Jer Elaine stated thata volunteer night would be scheduled in December atthe Food Bank, and that Linda requested volunteers atthe Old Newsboys on October 28. Call to Order: President Sally Shaheen Joseph called toorder the Board meeting of the Genesee Valley Rotary(GVR) at 11:02 am.

Secretary’s Report: The August 2010 Genesee ValleyRotary Club Board Meeting minutes were submitted.Candace made the motion the minutes be accepted,David seconded the motion, and the motion passedunanimously.

Treasurer’s Report: Jerry Heck distributed theSeptember 31, 2010 Profit & Loss Report. Jerrysuggested that Paul will handle the club’s treasuryposition and that he will handle the funds allocated forJoe’s District Governance. Joe made a motion toaccept, Elaine seconded the motion. Motion wascarried unanimously.The August Check Detail and Deposit Detail reportswere submitted for the record. Linda moved to acceptthe financial report; Dave seconded the motion. Motionwas carried.

Committee ReportsAllocations Committee: The final budget was reviewedwith the amendments discussed in September and was

accepted. Davestated that twotickets to TomS.’s retirementparty should bepurchased andoffered to themembership intoday’s meeting.Jerry stated thiscould beafforded throughthe contingency fund. Dave made the motion topurchase two tickets to Tom’s retirement party at theIMA Brookwood. Elaine seconded the motion. Themotion was carried.Membership: The menu for the month is now availableand posted on the website. Jeff has menus from Shap’sand the new Italian restaurant on Elms Road for theboard’s consideration.Linda Cottrel requested a leave of absence for financialreasons. A six month leave was granted with anoptional 6 additional months if necessary. DarleneChivinsky sent an email resigning from the club.Membership now stands at 32. Sally asked the statusof Joel and Steve Collins be clarified.Club Service: All is well.World Service: Candace has been researching worldservice projects and reviewing the informationforwarded to her by Sally. Candace and Paul will meetto discuss the options and present theirrecommendations to the board.Communications: Kim’s newsletter is awesome. A letterof thanks was received from the District Governor forour hospitality during his recent visit.Vocational Service/Literacy: Sharon’s report was

submitted by email and is attached to these minutes. Inshort, she has found suitable brochures for the Countyliteracy Project and is currently getting bids for theprinting. She also suggested that each member bring achildren’s book for the Toys for Tots drive.Community Service: Elaine is working with the SwartzCreek VFW to find out what is needed for their abroadsoldiers this year. Elaine stated that a volunteer nightwould be scheduled in December at the Food Bank, andthat Linda requested volunteers at the Old Newsboys onOctober 28. She will make announcement in meeting.There is no final count from the Salvation Army on thetotal contribution from our club for clothing drive.Rotary Foundation: November is Foundation month andall speakers will be from the Foundation. There will be abig push for Foundation funding.
