My Brothers,

It is hard to believe that summer is almost half over and

we are making sure all the

arrangements for the next

year of activities for the

Valley will be finalized.

There has been

some changes put in place

for the next year. Make sure

you not only check the

News & Views, but also the

Valley’s website (http://

aasruticany.com) to make

sure no changes have been

made.

We will again do

the degrees with the Valleys

of Syracuse and Norwood. The Commander—in– Chief for

Syracuse is Brother Robert Tyrrell, 33, who became a Scottish

Rite Mason in the Valley of Utica on April 7, 1984. When he

moved to the Syracuse area, he became a duel member there.

Hope to see you and your family at the Member, Work-

ers and Family Fun Night on August 2nd.

Fraternally,

IllDaniel L. Clark, 33 Secretary

JULY—SEPT, 2013 NEWS & VIEWS 3

Greetings Brothers,

The first thing you will notice about this issue of the News and Views, is a change of

style and format. In an effort to not only improve communication with our members, but also

to comply with new mailing regulations and contain costs, the Executive Committee has ap-

proved changes to our publication. There will now be four (4) issues per year: July – Sep-

tember; October – December; January – March; and April – June. Each issue will also be

less pages, with more pertinent, timely, information. We will supplement communication

with special notices, frequent updates on our website and robo call reminders. Our goal is to

enhance your ability to get information and know what is going on in the Valley. We always

welcome your comments and suggestions.

The past year has gone by rapidly and it is hard to believe that my first year as Com-

mander in Chief has concluded and we are beginning the second year. It has been a busy

year and we have had good participation in our degrees, events and functions. I wish to thank all who have taken a part

in our degree work. The degrees have all been rendered in excellent form and I extend a special thanks to Fred Rem-

betski, 320, MSA for his service and dedication as our Degree Director.

I welcome our 16 new Sublime Princes, who received the 320, in joint session with the Valley of Syracuse, in

Syracuse and were welcomed at our Annual Reunion Banquet in May. I hope each of you will continue to take an ac-

tive part in Scottish Rite Masonry. You are part of a very special class of new members – not only in celebrating the

200 Years of Brotherhood of Scottish Rite, but also as a member of the Vaughn A. “Bud” Combs Class. My congratula-

tions to all.

My thanks also to Thrice Potent Master, Frank Rice, 320, Chairman of our Family Life Week and all his Com-

mittee for the fine job in organizing this great annual event and their efforts in the difficult task of selecting the winning

essay’s and coloring contest submissions. We are already making plans to expand and have more school participation

next year.

Our Annual Meeting and Public Installation of Officers was held on May 17th. I congratulate all the officers in-

stalled and look forward to working with each of you. Please come out and show your support for the new Officers of

the Valley.

For the new AASR year, we are continuing to reach out and develop more new and exciting programs and

events for the interest of all. The first of these will be another change in our Summer Outing. This year it will be a

Member Fun Night and Family Outing. The date will be Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Roselawn. Time will be 4:30PM

– 7:30PM with fine summer picnic food, Special events and entertainment for the children and some great door prizes.

Mark your calendars now. Details can be found on Page 1 of this issue of the News and Views, as well as the separate

flyer mailed to each member and also on our website at www.aasruticany.com. Advance reservations and payment are

required, so please return the reservation card sent to each of you early.

I would be remiss if I did not also express a special personal thanks to Dan Clark, 330, Valley Secretary, and

Brenda Dickenson-Noti, Administrative Assistant for keeping the Office so well organized and their assistance to all our

committees and events during the year.

I wish you all and your families a wonderful summer. May it be filled with happy enjoyable times, and great

family fellowship. Hope to see you all at the Fun Night and Family Outing on August 2nd.

Fraternally,
