Concrete is composed of sand, gravel or crushed rock or other aggregates held together by a paste of cement and water. After mixing, the material bonds together and the mixture solidifies. Concrete gains strength with age. It possesses high compressive strength and is not subject to corrosion. However, it is very poor in tensile strength and therefore needs to be reinforced with steel in the tensile zones.

The water to cement ratio (W/C) is the weight of the water divided by the weight of cement.

What is Slump?Slump is a measure of the consistency of fresh concrete. The consistency or stiffness, indicates how much water has been used in the mix. The stiffness of the concrete mix has to be matched to the requirements for the finished product quality.
More specifically it is done to measure the consistency between the concrete batches.

Concrete Workability
Concrete is said to be workable when it is easily placed and compacted homogeneously i.e. without bleeding or segregation. The empirical test that measures the workability of fresh concrete is Concrete Slump test.

Hydraulic Filter is an essential component of every
hydraulic system. Hydraulic filters act to remove small
particles caused by wear due to linear and rotary motion
of components, as well as the dirt and dust that enters
the system from external sources. Hydraulic filters
ensures systems runs clean and lead to long life of the
systems and its components.
To improve performance, reliability and over alllife of the equipment, Genuine filters are selected taking into consideration of factors such as oil flow rates, pressure, temperature and types of oil used in the system.
In addition, the filter fineness of genuine filters is better than that of imitation products, there by increase the reliability of the components in the system. Non genuine filter can result in component failure.

Steps to be followed for a Slump Test:
Fill cone 1/3 full by volume and rod 25 times with 5/8- inch- diameter x 24- inch-long hemispherical tip steel tamping rod. Distribute rodding evenly over the entire cross section of the sample.
Fill cone 2/3 full by volume. Rod this layer 25 times with rod penetrating into, but not through first layer. Distribute rodding evenly over the entire cross section of the layer.
Fill cone to overflowing. Rod this layer 25 times with rod penetrating into but not through second layer. Distribute rodding evenly over the entire cross section of this layer.
Remove the excess concrete from the top of the cone, using tamping rod as a screed. Clean overflow from base of cone.
Immediately lift cone vertically with slow, even motion. Do not jar the concrete or tilt the cone during this process. Invert the withdrawn cone, and place next to, but not touching the slumped concrete
Lay a straight edge across the top of the slump cone. Measure the amount of slump in inches from the bottom of the straight edge to the top of the slumped concrete at a point over the original center of the base. The slump operation shall be completed in a maximum elapsed time of 2 1/2 minutes.
The most important property of concrete is the compressive strength which is determined by loading the properly moulded and cured specimens as dictated by the standards.

PROJECTS IN PROGRESSAjax - Fiori Batching Plants – Workhorses for concrete requirements of URC Construction
M/s URC Construction (P) Ltd. is one of the major construction company, Head quartered in Erode, Tamil Nadu. Founded in the Mid 1950's by its Founder Chairman Late. Shri.U.R.Chinnusamy, to provide construction services to various customers.
Today the company has emerged as trendsetter & one of the leading player in the Construction Industry, delivering custom-designed turnkey projects to various Government, Corporate and Private sector customers. Over the years the URC group has expanded its foot print in Information Technology & Real Estate sectors. As a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility programme, URC is actively involved in the development of education in the rural areas.
The Company had delivered numerous projects across Industry segments and some of their major ongoing projects includes:v Construction of Viaduct of 2.5 Kms of Chennai Metro.v Construction of infrastructures at Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing - Chennai. v Construction of Prestigious Apartment for Brigade group in Chennai. v Various housing projects to the tune of 2.5 Mn. Sq.ft. for top most developers.
Bangalore Metro Rail (BMRCL) at its Byappanahalli hub station had to develop about 112 apartments for its operation staff. Tenders were called for building Four towers of Eight floor each totalling to about 93,000 Sq.ft. area. Against stiff competition from five other construction companies and based on its proven track record with BMRCL , URC won this Housing Project at Byappanahalli, Bangalore contract in 2012.
The project had to be completed in 18 months. The construction of these towers involved about 9500 Cu.m of M20, M25 & M30 grade design mix concrete. The aggregate
used were 20mm down crushed granite, River Sand and Grade 53 Cement.
The average concrete pour required was over 100 Cu.m on Single shift basis. To meet these stringent
quality & tight time schedules of concreting, URC management decided to shift one of its RLA Ambison Batching plant purchased by them in April, 2012 to this site. RLA plant lived up to its reputation and delivered the desired quality as well as quantity of the concrete. This plant has already finished over 9000 Cu.m of concrete at this site and expects to complete its concreting task by February 2014. The project is being handed over on schedule in February (Two Towers) & March 2014.
This RLA plant from its commissioning till date has delivered total over 17000 Cu.m of design mix concrete without any major breakdowns. It was in 1998, URC management after carefully evaluating various options put their faith in Radial Lift Arm Concrete Batching Plant and became the proud owner of First RLA plant in India. RLA plants have due to their performance, reliability & economical operating cost have become workhorses in URC stable.
Today URC are the proud owners of 16 Batching plants. (14 RLA Plants). Experiencing the performance of Ajax - Fiori's quality, aftersales support & responsiveness on RLA Plants, URC team also put its faith in Ajax-Fiori when they purchased 2 Nos. Bintype EUROAXN (35 Cum & 60 cum capacity) plants for their Theni site in 2009 and are fully satisfied with the performance of these plants also.

The technology of Radius Lift Arm Batching Plants was introduced by Ajax - Fiori in the late 90’s which changed the dimension of concreting at Project sites. The Concrete produced out of the plant is as per Standards and suitable for pumping. Moreover these plants require less space for operation including material storage. The Operation and Maintenance cost for these plants is economical and is highly user- friendly in terms of erection and operation”.
Mr.S.Palanisamy recalled the long association with Ajax - Fiori which is almost more than 16 years now. He further states “Ajax - Fiori is a truly Professional Company to work with. After evaluating various options in Concrete batching technology, we finally found Ajax - Fiori Radius Lift Arm technology was most suited for our various project needs. This resulted in URC becoming the proud owner of the first Radius Lift Arm Batching plant in India.
Ajax - Fiori is always focusing on Customer requirement and respond to the needs of customers whenever arises in way of Supply, Maintenance or Breakdowns. As a result of this, Radius Lift Arm Batching Plants is still a real work horse for most of our projects and has worked tirelessly without much major breakdowns. The Operation Cost for these plants are considerably less compared to other traditional Batching plants due to the elimination of additional Conveyor for aggregates and a Single man to operate the plant.
These Plants are easy to Operate, Maintain, Shift & Erect. Radius Lift Arm Batching plant requires minimal foundation compared to other plants and thereby economical for customers.

New TRAILER MOUNTED CONCRETE PUMP at EXCON 2013
Showcasing the Concreting Future
Ajax - Fiori launched two models of JSP Series Trailer Mounted Concrete Pumps at EXCON 2013. These concrete Pumps are being manufactured by AJAX - FIORI in technical collaboration with M/s Junjin Heavy Industries Limited., South Korea. M/s Junjin are one of the leading global manufacturers of Concrete Boom Placers and Trailer Mounted Pumps.
JSP Series of Concrete Pumps are equipped with proven “S” Valve technology and are ideally suited for high rise pumping. To begin with, two models of JSP 40 and JSP 70 of 40 & 72 Cu.m/Hour capacity are available. These will be followed by two more models shortly. With the inclusion of Concrete pump into AJAX - FIORI’s range, comprehensive concreting solution Viz “Batching and Mixing, Transporting and Pumping & Placing” is available to the Customers.
Ajax - Fiori participated in EXCON 2013, the 7th edition of South Asia's largest event for Construction Equipment sector, organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Ajax - Fiori showcased its wide range of Concreting Equipment manufactured in India. On display were Self Loading Concrete Mixers, Batching Plants, Site Dumper and Trailer mounted Concrete Pumps.
During this Five day event, Ajax - Fiori received huge appreciation from a number of existing and potential customers, who visited the stall to check out the new technology and products on the display.

In order to help the Customer to get best performance from Ajax - Fiori equipments, Service as well as training for operation and maintenance plays a vital role. Ajax - Fiori believes in taking this service to customer’s door steps. In line with this, a 3 day Service Camp was organised at Warrangal in October 2013. Health Check - up for over 15 machines was conducted. The condition of each machine was checked by Team of factory trained Service Engineers and suggestions for preventive maintenance as well reconditioning was provided to the Customers.
Ajax - Fiori, organised an Operator Meet at Bilaspur during October 2013 for Customer from the near by areas. More than 60 Operators of Self Loading Concrete Mixer participated in the meet. Comprehensive training on topics covering Hydraulics, correct operation and maintenance of the machine, trouble - shooting was provided. Representative from KOEL (Engine) also participated to impart training on the engine to the Operators.
On November 19th 2013 was a momentous day for Ajax - Fiori, the company inaugurated it’s State - of - the - art Central Parts Logistic Center and Corporate Office in the Industrial Suburb of Peenya, Bangalore. This facility will focus on ensuring faster fulfilment of Customer parts requirement resulting in better uptime of the machines. The new facility is expected to be fully operational by March 2014.
Equipment Financing is key element in meeting the Customer’s needs. To ensure Financiers support to the Customers, Ajax - Fiori organised a series of Financier meets during the period June - August 2013. Leading finance companies like HDFC, Kotak, Tata Capital and many more participated in these meets and reaffirmed their support to Ajax - Fiori customers.

Power Grid plans to set up transmission system in Nagpur at Rs.1575 Cr.
The government has placed the Amritsar- Delhi- Kolkata Industrial Corridor (ADKIC), which involved the initial budgetary support worth Rs. 5,749 Cr, on the fast track. The project will be the second of its kind on the lines of the Delhi- Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), which will be aligned to the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor and will be spread across 20 cities in seven states crisscrossing through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
In order to inject a new and refurbished look for the rural road network in Maharashtra, under the Prime Minister's Gram Sadak Yojana–II, the Union Government has cleared a staggering sum worth
Rs 489 Cr for the state. The districts of Solapur (126 km), Pune (88 km), Latur (71 km) and Osmanabad (53.35 km) are the largest beneficiary.
