WENDY TIMES News Letter March – May 2015
“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.”
We believe that a small step in the right direction will blaze a trail on the pathway of success,
unprecedented and humongous, bringing to the fore talents in multifarious fields.
Hearty greetings to all! Just as spring heralds new life , warmth and brightness , the pitter patter of feet
in the School corridors indicate that the school year has not only begun, but is well on its way to being
one that is filled with fun and activities. Surely by now everybody, particularly the new admissions have
become familiar with the school and its way of life. Every Wendyites‘ is fairly occupied and is looking
forward to something – be it club work or inter house competition. We have great plans for the school
and hope to inspire all of you to become regular contributors. Do not forget that creativity resides in all
of you, students and teachers alike, and we are going to make numerous attempts to unleash it. My Best
Wishes to all the students, staff members and Academic Heads.

The Power of Positive Thinking
G r o w t h, E x p a n s i o n, Success three aspects that every person in today's fast paced competitive
world seeks. Striving to achieve these aspects is our goal The power of positive thinking which admits in
a person's mind favorable thoughts, words and images is a mental attitude that results in happiness,
joy, good health and a successful outcome of every situation and action. When the attitude is positive we
entertain pleasant feelings and productive images, and see in our mind what we really want to happen.
We are able to broadcast goodwill, happiness and success. Positive Time management is not just for
adults, putting basic management techniques into practice benefits children immensely. Best way to
enable them to understand time is to organize their daily activities. A simple chart if prepared weekly,
outlining special activities of each day will encourage children to develop a habit of referring to the
chart every morning. Gradually as children learn basic time concepts such as weeks and months a
calendar may be placed in their bedroom. They can cross out the days or countdown until special events
such as birthdays, anniversaries or the end of the term. I would like to share few strategies to help
children manage their time: thinking builds in us self confidence and people around us sense our
thoughts and are affected by the aura around us. Positive thinking helps remove in us all negative
thoughts that only result in negative and unhappy moods and action. People around us sense our
thoughts. They are more disposed to us if we are positive, and they dislike and avoid anyone
broadcasting negativity. When the mind is negative, poisons are released in the blood, which cause
more unhappiness and negativity. This leads to failure, frustration and disappointment. The power of
positive thinking is boundless. The Power of Positive Thinking Positive thinking gives us that never
ceasing flow of energy, peace of mind and a feeling that nothing can defeat us. The hard tragedies of life
do not dominate us as positive thinking helps minimize them. To facilitate the successful outcome of
positive thinking we have to change our actions to support that thinking. If we fail to do this we may
land up being our own worst enemy. Keeping in mind the future rewards of positive thinking, starting
the day with positive thinking and counting your blessings will help utilize the power of power of
positive thinking and keep us on the path to 'Success'.

Utilisation of Holidays
Holidays, undoubtedly provide us different kinds of pleasures and pleasant diversions. While holidays
refresh both body and mind and break the monotony of school, it is important to see to it that holidays
are properly utilized. It has been rightly said that,” All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” This is
one of the reasons why schools compulsorily feature holidays in their school calendar. There are many
ways to spend purposeful holidays and this differs from person to person. While planning a holiday, it
becomes essential to spend them wisely and carefully. To cite an example, sightseeing is an innocent and
useful way of spending the holidays. Travelling helps expand the mind and adds knowledge. Students
are greatly benefitted by this. We should be careful not to overstrain our mind and body during the
holidays or we may find ourselves completely fatigued and exhausted when we return to school. On the
other hand, holidays should prepare us for work with greater relish and aptitude. Holidays are well
spent when we return to work with redoubled vigour and energy. Holidays are the best time to learn
new things and think about setting goals for the next academic year to improve and achieve good
grades. Reading books gives a great value to your time and you are going to get a lot out of it. Taking
ample rest and getting good sleep during holidays is also important. Some students can utilize holidays
to improve their handwriting, read more magazines, watch some useful channels on television such as,
B.B.C, Animal Planet, Discovery etc. In short, holidays are the best days to improve yourself in your
weak areas of work. Holidays are days given to improve and rejuvenate yourself. So do plan your
holiday and utilize it to the best of your ability. Happy Summer Holidays!

Activities & Competitions ( Junior Wing) Co curricular activities can help students to become well-rounded. The ranges of options in
primary schools helps students narrow down their interests and discover their passions.
Cocurriculars provide the opportunity for hands-on application of classroom lessons. Children
who participate in co curricular activities develop a healthy sense of competition yet learn to be
gracious in defeat. Co curricular provide opportunities for children to take initiative and learn
effective leadership skills. They also provide an appropriate outlet for expressing feelings,
helping kids learn to communicate and offering tangible rewards for hard work.
- Sarita Gupta (Junior Wing In –Charge)
1. Paper Collage (April 30, 2015)
As young children explore paint by putting it all over their hands, or create collages with torn paper,
it's noticeable how involved they get in their activities. Children delight in exploring and creating with
art materials. These art experiences help children develop many life skills.
2. Hand Painting Activity (April 13, 2015)
Apart from the usual drawing and colouring techniques, hand-painting can be a joyful experience for
your toddler, allowing them to have more space for creativity and thereby paving their way to create
unique works of art specific to their imagination. Hand-painting can be a rewarding experience, since it
builds colour and shape recognition skills, allowing your child to explore their sense of touch with
different textured materials. It is also great for fine-tuning their motor skills. Using a little imagination
and exploring a range of different methods, you can create amazing artworks with your child. And the
great thing about hand and finger paintings is that they’re always going to be unique, since they’ll
feature your child’s individual fingerprints!

6. Red Day Celebrations
One of the most interesting and perhaps the hardest concepts to teach a child is “colors”. But at the same
time they love anything bright and colorful, isn’t the fact very interesting?
We at Wendy have our own ways to introduce to our little angels to different concepts, so our innovative
team left a long lasting impression of “Red” color, on the little minds by celebrating our Red Colour day
at a grand Scale. Cute faces all dressed in the red colors, had a red colour food in their meals as well.
Activities like Red Ball Racing, Tippi Tippi Tap… further strengthened the red color recognition. The
little ones enjoyed their day to the fullest & got learned their red colour as well.
Summer Camp 2015( 1st May- 15th May )
There is something magical about a summer camp experience. Camp is an independent experience that
shapes one’s character and life — a controlled, safe environment where children and youth are able to
make their own decisions about simple things (what activity they want to do , or what clothes they are
going to wear) and about important things (who they will hang out with . . . who will be their friends).
Camp is a place where kids interact with people face-to-face and, at the same time, learn about
themselves and others around a camp.
Camps give kids a chance to practice being the best they can be. They experience a place designed to
create happy memories and encourage self-expression. They have the opportunity to climb towers, ride
horses, shoot an arrow, and even experience the success of winning the big game! It stays with them
forever. In Wendy our Camp the kids learnt many activities in a fun way like- Art & Craft, Music,
Dance, Taekwondo, Basket Ball, Chess, Carom, Swimming, Skating etc. The camp ended with Lots of
Competition in Dance, Music, Taekwondo and swimming and a party at Phool Bagh and then splash
activity in the swimming pool!!!!!
- Camp Coordinator
Manish Gupta, Father of Sarthak Gupta (Grade I) says………
As parents, our hopes and jobs are to ready our kids to be productive, independent, and
capable people — to prepare them to thrive without us. Camp offers a way for kids to
start developing those skills in the best possible environment. It makes me a bit sad every
time my son runs off to join his cabin group without even a look back . . . and at the same
time, I burst with pride watching him growing into a happy, independent, tolerant, open,
confident, and capable person. I know that we will have plenty to talk about when he gets
home from camp. I also know he will remember the trust and gift of his time at camp, and
it will add to him for the rest of his life.
Trip to Nanital- Ranikhet- Jim Corbett
(5thMay -10th May) - From Trip Coordinator Diary
In today’s world we hardly have the time to take a note of our mind. Rarely do we stop to listen what our body and
mind are saying. We are so preoccupied with our busy lives that we have chosen to become mechanised people,
rather than be the natural human being God had created. For, how many times do we notice the falling leaves in the
winter, how many times do we enjoy the chirping of birds in the autumn and how many times do we enjoy those
wonderful drops of rain trying to kiss us.
We Wendyites went for the trip to Nanital- Ranikhet- Jim Corbett.
Nanital is a beautiful hill station in Himalayas. There are temples also at Nanital. Naina Devi temple is near the
‘Flats’ the large flat ground which is carved out of the lake itself due to landslides in olden times. It is near the
Mallital area. On this side of the lake lies the Mall road. We enjoyed the walk alongside the lake periphery covering
four kilometers in one day. It was very interesting. We visited Hanumangarhi also .The place has two main
markets-the Tibetan Market & the Upper Market. Both the markets are near the famous Naini Devi Temple.
However, keep the “candles” right at the top of your shopping list .These candles are a speciality artifact of Nanital.
You can get them in various colours and shapes, as well as sizes. We stayed at Hotel Himalayas which was very
beautiful. We also visited lover & suicide point, Himalaya Darshan etc.
Ranikhet is a hill station and cantonment town in Almora district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is the home
for the Military Hospital, Kumaon Regiment (KRC) and Naga Regiment and is maintained by the Indian Army. The
Flora and Fauna is extremely beautiful we all were spell bound. We saw the Golf course, visited Kali Mandir, a 100
years old temple.
We also visited Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India and was established in 1936 as Hailey
National Park to protect the endangered Bengal tiger. We stayed in a beautiful Resort called ‘Hum –Tum Resort
situated on the bank of the river. Students enjoyed in the garden of the resort which was heavily laden with
Mangoes and Lichies. They went to the river then had pool party and night party on dancing floor. Early Morning
went to Gypsy Safari in national park. They saw deers, monkeys, beautiful birds, flowers, trees, had a quick
glimpse of tiger. They went to museum, then Girija temple, did many adventurous sports like rap ling, monkey
jump, water rafting, river crossing etc. To conclude it was a beautiful trip and the students were reluctant to come
back home.
