The HHH mission is to be a home away from home for patients and caregivers seeking medical treatment in Nashville hospitals by providing lodging, meals

and other supportive services.

At the beginning of the calendar year, our class made individual New Year's resolutions that we shared with the class. Many of us wanted to spend more time in service to others. So we began to think about something we could do for others outside of church. We found HHH and liked their mission and what they were providing for those who couldn't afford housing while they were caring for loved ones in local hospitals. We began making dinner for them on a monthly basis. We all have worked together to provide meals for the people at HHH. I think it's been great because it has brought us closer as a class while bringing Christ's love to others. I also think it has spurred us to create other opportunities for fellowship and service. —Anna Rose Anderson

MEALS FOR NEW MOMSDid you know that in less than a year

14 babies have been born to our Hillsboro families and seven more are expected in the next several months? Did you know that when mom and baby go home from the hospital, there is a ministry at Hillsboro that provides several meals for these families?

Our Young Marrieds, Friends in Faith and Family Experience classes have been involved in this ministry for several years. As Hillsboro continues to grow in number, there is an increased need for invlovement from others in our church family. The meals can be homemade or takeout, and suggestions are provided by the new mom and dad.

If you are interested in joining this ministry, please contact Natalie Church ([email protected]), Elizabeth Byerly ([email protected]) or Jennifer White ([email protected]).

Let's Start Talking. Advertisement. Athens Views 6 September 2013: 31

The above ad was listed in a recent copy of the weekly newspaper, Athens Views. "Let's Start Talking" is the program used overseas to help non-English speaking people improve their language skills and learn more about the good news of Christ. The classes are being held at Omonia Church of Christ, where Hillsboro-supported missionaries, Alex and Eleni Melirrytos, work.

Creating Life-Changing Conversations

"One of our friends in FriendSpeak has almost no problem carrying on a good conversation in English. But we encountered “sin” in our reading last Wednesday night. The word obviously had never come up in any other context this person had experienced. First attempts at saying it came out “sing.” What does it say about our society when someone has lived here long enough to interact well with Americans, can read most English words without hesitation, and yet something like “sin” has never come up? What does it say about FriendSpeak that this word, its meaning and what we can do about it is explained one friend to another? Join us and help an international friend." —Henry

"How many programs are there to reach the lost where the participants actually arrive at our very own building and in essence say 'please read the Bible to me'? The only requirements needed for the 'teacher' are simply to be able to hear and to show up on Wednesday evenings. Could any mission be simpler or more rewarding? Please, please volunteer to help these wonderful individuals." —Susan
