ANNUAL MEETING
FEBRUARY 7 THIS YEAR
This year our annual meeting will be held between ser-vices at 10am. There will be no Sunday School on this day. We will hear year end reports, receive the budget, and look to the future together! Plan on coming early if you normally attend the 11am worship service or stay-ing late if you normally worship at 9am. See you in church and at this meeting.
January 2016
A New Year has dawned and with it comes the opportunity to leave the
old behind and begin something new. The Advent of a new year
seems to give us permission to try something new or to address a
need we have in our life! I’m not sure what the difference is between Decem-
ber 31 and January 1—but I’m glad we think something new and better is
possible when a new year rolls around!
I also think we try to change or work on too much all at once. I think we
should choose just one thing to work on or try in the new year and focus exclusively on that!
So the question is:
What do you need to change or work on in your life?
Where are you dissatisfied or concerned in your daily life?
What needs of yours are not being met?
What new step do you need to take or want to take in your faith, your relationships, your
work life, or your family?
What is God challenging you to do differently or how is He challenging you to think dif-
ferently in 2016?
So pick just ONE!! Focus on one thing.
The next part is to figure out what first step or new step do you need to take in this area? What
needs to change and how can you begin to make this change? Is it priorities? Time given to it?
An attitude adjustment, learning related to it? Choose a first step! Then DO IT and do it every-
day until it becomes a new habit.
This new year of 2016 is a new year of opportunity and promise for us all! Be intentional about
this, choose ONE thing and focus on that! Follow God’s lead in that area.
It is my prayer you see positive movement in this area of your life! Let God into it and see what
can happen. With God all things are possible!
Be Blessed this New Year!
See you in church,
Barry

BARRY ON STUDY LEAVE: Barry will be attending the Jacksonville Pastor’s
Conference in Jacksonville, Florida at the end of January. While he is away
Chris Combs will be preaching!
Many people in our church have expressed a
desire that we reach out to our Tuesday
Free Meal guests with more than just food.
The Tuesday Meal Ambassadors could be a
first step in reaching out to our guest in a
more personal way.
We have such gifted people in our Congrega-
tion. Many have the gift of hospitality. We
invite you to share your gift of hospitality
with our Tuesday Meal guests
You could come and sit with our guests and
simply talk with them. You could lead a
song, once you get to know them you could
offer to help them with something, the list is
endless. We want this to be a caring minis-
try of outreach to those in need here in Bry-
an , beyond food.
Our church supports mission all over the
world and does so with enthusiasm. We
have a mission field right here in our own
church and in the Bryan community. Come
and be the face of Christ and our church to
our guests.
If you have questions see Carol Rowan or
Barry. There is a sign up sheet on the table
next to the office. We hop to begin this min-
istry early in 2016. There will be a short in-
formative training meeting in January for
those who have signed up. Pray about it
and say yea!
THE SNOW IS COMING!! (maybe?)
It is the official policy of the church that if we
are at a level 2 snow emergency that all
church events or worship services are can-
celled. On Wednesdays if school is cancelled
for snow (not fog) there is no Wednesday
KREW or Impact or Men’s Group!
This should help you determine if your event
or worship service is meeting during the win-
ter months ahead.
SUPPORT
GROUP
A new support
group for women
who suffer from
various mental ill-
nesses will be on
Tuesdays. It will be
held here at First
P r e s b y t e r i a n
Church downstairs in the Senior High
Room from 7:00-8:00pm. Facilitated by Ja-
mie Moskowitz. This is for women from
our church as well as those in our commu-
nity.
Todd, Robin & Clay Campbell, Larry & Deb-bie Killgallon, Tom, Holly, & Hannah Goodrich and Blake & Kathryn Rockey for doing the Advent readings this year.
Joanne Israel and Yvette Zedaker for getting the Christmas Eve candles ready.
Joanne Israel for putting together the poin-settia donation list again this year.
Lora Manon and Chris Combs for preaching while Barry was away.
The Fellowship Committee, Laura Andres, Lori Bird, Craig Buell, Don & Rhonda Shrider, Joanne Israel, Ann Harlow, and Kelly Co-hoon plus Marjorie Buell and Gene Andres for all their hard work on the Christmas din-ner this year.
June Webster for writing and directing the Christmas program and Hyla Sharrock for all the music she played on December 13!
John Hamilton, Tyson & Jana Horton, Fred Nott, David Meuleman, JB Orendorff, Rhon-da Shrider, Jenella Tilton, Heather Hardman, Tom Culbertson, Steve Bird, Robert Smith,
, Dick Brickel, Charlie Nichols, and Sherry Newman for being in the program or working behind the scenes of the Christmas program.
The numerous vocalists and musicians who have made a joyous “noise” in our church throughout 2015.
Dave Lash for taking care of our courtyard garden this year.
Our church continues to move forward finan-
cially through the generous giving of its
members and friends. Anticipated giving for
2016 is approximately $20,000.00 more than
it was in 2015.
Some of this increased giving will be used to
enable Chris Combs to work with our youth
more hours every week. He has been very ef-
fective in reaching out and energizing the
young people to become more active and in-
volved in the church.
In addition, the church building is over fifty
years old and continues to need maintenance
and repair. Just like our houses—there is al-
ways something that needs to be fixed. The
mission committee seeks to find opportuni-
ties to support organizations or individuals,
both locally or far away, who do God’s work
every day.
Thank you, congregation, for your generous
giving and pledging as we move forward into
2016.
The Stewardship/Finance Committee
Many thanks to the Tuesday Women’s Bible Study Group for remembering me at Christmas with a very nice cookie, candy and fruit plate. I also wish to thank Jane Nott for delivering the plate and for a great visit. My best to all of you in 2016. —Ann Spletzer
