NEWS Caring, Confident and Respectful Learners

DIARY DATES Tuesday 2nd: HEALTHY LUNCHES Wednesday 3rd: Thursday 4th

    Canteen Friday 5th Monday 8th:

PUBLIC HOLIDAY Tuesday 9th: HEALTHY LUNCHES IMPORTANT DATES:

    Dear Parents, Carers and Community,

It is fantastic to see teaching and learning return to almost

normal. We are undertaking planning for our normal events in

hope that sometime soon we will be able to hold both the Cross

Country and Athletics carnivals. Our yearly excursion is planned

with a hope that restrictions will lift enough for us to be able to

travel by the end of Term 3.

All students should be at school unless:

    They are currently unwell.

They have a medical certificate which states that they are

unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical

    condition

If your child is unwell, do not send them to school. If they are

unwell at school, you or your nominated emergency contact will

need to collect them immediately. Please make sure your contact

details are up to date. If a student is absent without a medical

reason for more than three days, this will be recorded as an

unauthorised absence and followed up by the school.

I would like to thank the staff at the Ivanhoe Correctional Centre

for their support of our school over many years. In my short time

at Ivanhoe, they have contributed significantly to the running of

    many of our events.

The school would like to thank

Shannon’s Electrics in Broken Hill for

their great discount which helped us

install our electrical cables for the

    Outback Adventure Farm.

    WHAT HAS BEEN

    HAPPENING AT SCHOOL

    THIS WEEK !

The K-6 students had a lovely time last

    Wednesday, participating in a simultaneous

story time with the Hub children.

Kim Huntly read “Chicken Divas” to all of our

students and Hub parents. We were even

able to live stream it via our Facebook page.

    Perhaps you joined in?

It was a fantastic story about two young

divas and their secret musical nights.

Kyeanna was lucky enough to receive the

prize of the book and toy after both Rilie and

Will were drawn out of the raffle but kindly

donated it back for someone else to win.

  • Every morning starts off with the beautiful voices of birds, singing at Ivanhoe Central School. The singing stops when the birds hear the footsteps of our eager, respectful, caring and confident learners.

The day starts with a loud bang, ‘service!’. Handball is underway and great dynamic skills, aerobic prowess and

motor skills are exhibited by these battle hardened veterans. It is a wonderful sight to watch our students

    participate in such a character-building

    fitness regime every morning.

    The Principal has acquired some

    internationally recognised dodgeballs, that are

used in major tournaments, for use by the

    students. This will enhance and

    consolidate students’ movement skills,

    interpersonal skills and

    self-management skills.

  • We are creating a winter wonderland in the library.

Are you enjoying the cooler mornings and nights?

So good to have a warm Milo with perhaps a

    marshmallow floating on the top.

‘Supertato Veggies Assemble’ written by Sue Hendra & Paul Linnet.

Supertato to the rescue! The Evil Pea is on the loose and there’s anarchy in

the aisles! Can our supermarket superhero divert disaster? Or is he going to

need backup? A funny, fast-moving adventure for fans of Supertato and

Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell.

This week we have 3 new picture books:

The first is ‘Walking in a Winter Wonderland’, pictures by

Tim Hopgood and the words are as sung by Peggy Lee.

A joyous celebration of the most wonderful time of the year, based

on the bestselling song Winter Wonderland.

‘The Storm Whale in Winter’ written by Benji Davies.

Last summer Noi rescued a little whale washed up on the beach. Now, as

winter draws in, Noi longs to see his friend again. He waits and watches,

watches and waits—but will it take another storm to bring them back

    together?

  • Another great day at Hub last week.

A few new faces and as usual, lots of

    fun, learning and healthy snacks!

Hub runs each Wednesday from 9am.

Phone the school for more info!

Jess, our lovely Student Support Worker and

    her husband Rob,

welcomed their first child last week.

    A sweet baby girl!

Friday, the 22nd of May, 2020

    at 5:48pm

    8.3lbs and 53cm long

Congratulations to you both and welcome

    to the world, Holly.

We’re all very excited to meet you!

  • COMMUNITY ITEMS ITEMS FOR PUBLICATION

Items for publication in the school newsletter need to be submitted to the school (via email or in person) by 4pm Thursday, prior to

publication. This will ensure items are included in the next newsletter.

    Phone - 02 6995 1108 Email - [email protected]

Due to large numbers of community advertisements coming into the school to be added to the newsletter, the cost is escalating. We would

like to continue to produce large and colourful copies but to make this possible we will need to charge a fee for each advertisement.

$5.00 for a one off or $20 for a month.

$20 a month or $5 per ad as a one off.

Community Notices are accepted in good faith and at the discretion

    of the Principal.
