Valencia, Spain- The new Convert 15A arrayable loudspeaker is a powered, multi-function system incorporating a series

of breakthrough features that offer an unmatched level of versatility. The Convert 15A features an innovative system

which provides user-definable dispersion characteristics, allowing the system to be deployed as either a curved source

array or used individually as a point source.

As the Convert name implies, the horizontal and vertical dispersion characteristics of the system can be “converted”, to

meet the specific requirements of almost any application. This is achieved using the proprietary Digitally Convertible

DispersionTM

(DCDTM

) preset which modifies the horizontal dispersion of the Convert 15A from 20º to 40º. Vertical

dispersion can also be altered using a combination of dispersion panels and digital presets to achieve 60º, 75º

asymmetrical or 90º degrees of coverage.

The wide frequency range and impressive output of the Convert 15A is possible thanks to the D.A.S. designed and built

transducer components. Low frequency reproduction employs the D.A.S. 15GNR4 loudspeaker, a 15” device

incorporating a 102 mm (4”) voice coil and a light-weight neodymium magnet assembly.

The M-60N neodymium compression driver is used to handle high frequency reproduction. The driver’s 44 mm (1.75")

voice coil is made using copper clad aluminum flat wire attached to a urea polyamide diaphragm. Three M-60N units are

attached to the new BPS-320 dSERPISTM

trifunctional waveguide capable of providing optimum coherency as a

horizontal or vertical curved source array or as a point source.

The Convert 15A employs an advanced package of integrated electronics that includes digital signal processing,

component and amplifier protection and a new 2000 W, three channel Class D amplifier with switch mode power supply

(SMPS). Remote monitoring is provided by way of the DASnetTM

monitoring software.

The Convert 15A enclosure is constructed of birch plywood finished with the durable Iso-Flex black paint. Safe stacking

is accomplished by way of plastic feet which inter-lock with fitting points to prevent slippage. Optional rigging hardware is

available and can be used to form either horizontal or vertical curved source arrays. M-10 threaded rigging points are

provided for use in permanent installations.

D.A.S. AUDIO DEPLOYED AT THE FLYING MONKEY MOVIE HOUSE AND PERFORMANCE CENTER

Maximum dispersion and first rate music reproduction characteristics ideal for storied venue

Plymouth, NH – December 2012… Part of The Common Man family of restaurants, The Flying Monkey Movie House and Performance Center attracts audiences from all around New England and beyond for shows featuring some of the best contemporary musical and comedy acts. Booking both regional and national artists, The Flying Monkey’s upcoming schedule includes violinist / fiddler Natalie MacMaster, singer / songwriter Judy Collins, guitarist Johnny Winter, and Blue Oyster Cult, among others. Providing sound reinforcement for artists of this stature is nothing to be taken lightly. That’s why a new sound system using components from Valencia, Spain-based D.A.S. Audio was selected. Manchester, NH-based K Production Services, a full service production, design / build firm specializing in professional audio presentation services was contracted to design and oversee installation of the newly renovated theater's sound system. Ultimately, a selection of D.A.S. Audio Aero 12A powered, 2-way, mid-high line array modules and LX-215A powered, band-pass subwoofer systems were deployed. Gary Agresti, the firm’s President, discussed the nature of the project. “The Flying Monkey is an old converted movie house,” Agresti explained. “It is very oddly shaped and presented many sound-related challenges for live audio performance. The venue envisioned offering shows from a variety of genres—from soft acoustic acts all the way through loud rock concerts—and, thus, we needed to find a sound reinforcement solution that would provide maximum dispersion and clarity at all sound pressure levels.” The Flying Monkey’s main loudspeaker system consists of fourteen D.A.S. Audio Aero 12A line array elements—flown six modules per side (stage left/right). Low frequency support for these two loudspeaker clusters is provided by two D.A.S. LX-215A sub bass enclosures—one per side, vertically aligned with the overhead Aero 12A hangs. Additionally, there are two Aero 12A’s mounted from the theater’s ceiling toward the rear of the space. These are used as an upper balcony delay system. A D.A.S. Audio DSP-4080 stereo / mono processor handles loudspeaker management tasks while an Avid Venue SC48 digital console resides at Front of House. “With their self-powered design,” Agresti says, “the D.A.S. Aero Series 2 loudspeaker systems were the ideal match for this project. In addition to the streamlined cabling and ease of installation the powered systems afford, the D.A.S. equipment provides consistent coverage throughout the space, as well as excellent speech intelligibility and music reproduction characteristics. The vocals just pop while all other mid frequencies stay clear and well-defined. These enclosures handle everything we throw at them with absolutely no distortion.”

The Flying Monkey’s new D.A.S. Audio sound system was first placed into service in June 2012 for a performance by rock artists The Royal Southern Brotherhood. Throughout the product selection, design, and installation phases, Agresti reports that D.A.S. Audio provided world-class customer / technical support services. “D.A.S. Audio’s customer service has been immediately responsive to all of our needs,” he said. “A company representative called to verify that we received everything, asked if we had any questions, verified everything was working correctly, and they continue to check in to ensure all our requirements have been met. In my book, that’s an A++ rating.” Before turning his focus to other company business, Agresti summed up his experience with the D.A.S. equipment at The Flying Monkey, “We love the D.A.S. system at The Flying Monkey. We work with many national touring acts that have used just about every conceivable audio system out there. We’re constantly being told they feel the sound at The Flying Monkey is some of the best they've encountered. The feedback from the Monkey patrons is just as positive, with many saying, ‘in their opinion, it’s the best sounding venue in the region.’ As The Flying Monkey expands its lineup for 2013, we look forward for the chance to utilize the D.A.S. system to its full potential. This was a very gratifying project and all of us at K Production Services hope to continue our success by installing more D.A.S. equipment in some of our other venues as well.” To learn more about The Flying Monkey, visit www.flyingmonkeynh.com. D.A.S. AUDIO HELPS REVELERS FIND MUCH TO CHEER ABOUT AT ETHIOPIAN 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION

Aero Series 2 loudspeaker systems fill Washington, D.C.’s RFK Stadium

Washington, D.C – September 2012… Featuring a combination of music concerts and soccer

games, attendees at this year’s Ethiopian 4th of July Celebration at RFK Stadium found themselves

immersed in top quality sound. Over the course of three days—July 1st, 4

th, and 6

th—hip hop artist T.I.

and rappers TPain, B.o.B., and Young Jeezy were among the numerous acts that kept the roughly

10,000 attendees in festive spirits. Music was everywhere, thanks in no small part to the exemplary

performance characteristics of Aero Series 2 loudspeaker systems from Valencia, Spain-based D.A.S.

Audio.

New York, NY-based Q Lights and Sound Productions, a provider of staging, lighting, and sound

services for the live / special events market, was contracted to deploy the sound reinforcement system

for this year’s event. Vito Lazarte, the firm’s CEO and system designer / lead engineer, discussed the

challenges of the project.

“The area of coverage was extremely wide,” Lazarte explained. “Because of this, it was critically

important to deploy a sound system that offered broad horizontal dispersion in addition to solid vertical

throw. In terms of sound, the system needed to have great music reproduction qualities without

sacrificing speech intelligibility. These considerations are precisely what led us to the deployment of the

D.A.S. Audio equipment. After modeling the system in EASE Focus, we preceded to put it all together.”

The system that Lazarte and his crew deployed consisted of twenty-four D.A.S. Aero 12A powered,

compact, 2-way, line array modules—flown twelve elements per side—for the house mains. To ensure

proper coverage on the extreme sides of the area, the crew also positioned another five Aero 12A’s

each for the left and right primary outfills. For frontfill coverage, Lazarte also placed six Aero 8A ultra-

compact, 2-way enclosures across the front of the stage area. Loudspeaker management tasks were

handled by a D.A.S. Audio DSP-26 2-In / 6-Out stereo / mono processor.

Stage monitoring provisions were handled via sixteen D.A.S. Audio Road 12A powered, 2-way stage

monitors while sixteen D.A.S. LX-218CA powered, high performance sub bass enclosures provided

low frequency support. These subwoofers were positioned eight enclosures per side.

“The fact that all these loudspeakers are self-powered was a huge advantage on this project,” Lazarte,

reports. “Since we didn’t have to deal with racks of heavy power amps, transporting the equipment was

easier, as was the actual setup. These powered loudspeakers simplify system cabling, which in turn

makes the entire setup more streamlined.”

When queried about D.A.S. Audio customer and technical support services, Lazarte says D.A.S.

always has his back. “D.A.S. Audio is really easy to deal with,” he said. “I can get hold of someone

anytime I call and, if I leave a message, they always get back to me quickly. In this line of business,

that’s a huge benefit.

With this year’s celebration now in the rearview mirror, Lazarte reports he couldn’t be happier with the

way everything turned out. “There was a tremendous amount of gear required for this project,” he said,

“and the D.A.S. equipment made the job go really smoothly. The powered loudspeakers are a

tremendous benefit by themselves, and when you factor in D.A.S. Audio’s first-rate rigging hardware,

you simply can’t go wrong. The flyware on the Aero Series 2 loudspeakers is exceptional and because

of this, both setup and tear down are easier and faster. My entire crew—production manager Carlos

Lazarte, stage manager Elvis Rodriguez, monitor engineer Jean Paul Zayas-Bazan, lighting tech

Giovanni Zayas-Bazan, and FOH engineer Fernando Garcia—were all really impressed with how

efficient the setup was.”

“Best of all,” he continued, “the client, the performers, and the audience were all positively knocked out

by the system’s performance. You could understand every word that was spoken and the music was

big and full sounding. Several artists commented that they loved the sound of the system. Most

importantly, the client loved it. By the second day, we were already contracted for next year’s event.

When one job leads to repeat business, that’s as good as it gets!”

D.A.S. AUDIO HELPS MTI SOUND FIND SUCCESS ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL

Sound quality and thoughtful features make last minute engagements easy

Melbourne, FL – November 2012… With this year’s presidential election rapidly approaching, both President Obama and his Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, are making numerous campaign stops to bolster voter support—particularly in the critically important ‘swing’ states such as Florida. Given the mercurial nature of politics, these visits are often last-minute decisions. For Sanford, FL-based MTI Sound, the campaign stops have led to numerous live sound reinforcement projects. The ability to get and out in short order is critical to the success of these affairs and a big part of that success has been the ease of working with his sound system, which utilizes components drawn from the catalog of Valencia, Spain-based D.A.S. Audio. Scott Shryock, President of the full service sound, lighting, staging, video production, and installation company MTI Sound, has specified a combination of D.A.S. Audio Aero 12A powered two-way, mid-high line array modules, LX-218CA powered subwoofers, and Road 12A powered stage monitors for these projects. He discussed the nature of the jobs and how the D.A.S. equipment helps him meet the expectations of his clients. “We frequently get the call for these campaign stops at the last minute,” Shryock explained, “so the ability to move the equipment as well as set it up and break it down quickly is critical. All our D.A.S. equipment is self-powered, which simplifies cabling and goes a long way toward making an efficient setup. Equally important, the Aero 12A’s rigging hardware is all self-contained, so this, too, makes truck pack easier and simplifies the process of flying the loudspeakers. We’ve done several of these events recently and I fully expect we’ll do several more before Election Day.” For a recent visit by President Obama in Melbourne, FL, the MTI Sound crew deployed sixteen D.A.S. Audio Aero 12A’s, four LX-218CA subwoofers, and a dozen Road 12A stage monitors. “We flew five Aero 12A’s on each side of the stage for the left-right mains,” Shryock said. “These were augmented by left-right delay stacks—each consisting of three Aero 12A’s and two LX-218CA’s. The delay stacks were positioned roughly 100 feet out in front of the house mains. Our Road series monitors served multiple purposes. President Obama had one by his side as his stage monitor and the rest were used for fill purposes in order to maintain a low visual profile. Two Road 12A’s were used for front fills while the rest were deployed in the bleacher areas to the sides and behind the President.” “We’ve used this basic setup for all the campaign stops,” Shryock added. “Depending upon whether these are outdoor or indoor events (where crowd control limitations are considerably more restrictive), we’ve been seeing crowds ranging in size anywhere from approximately 3,000 to 12,000 people. “To ensure optimized positioning and angling of the loudspeakers, I model the setup using EASE Focus loudspeaker aiming and acoustic modeling software. The results have been very impressive. The Aero 12A’s have really good horizontal dispersion with solid vertical throw and, best of all; they’re very easy

to aim. The system has been providing consistent coverage throughout all audience areas and both speech intelligibility and music reproduction has been first-rate.” The D.A.S. loudspeakers have an additional feature that Shryock is very enthusiastic about, “Here in Florida, we frequently say, ‘If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes.’ It can change from sunshine to rain and back almost that fast. I love the protective flap that resides over the connections and power module at the rear of the D.A.S. enclosures. We were caught in some heavy rains twice recently, but with those covers, the gear was protected and we encountered no difficulties keeping everything operational.” Before shifting his focus back to some forthcoming engagements, Shryock offered these final comments. “Our D.A.S. equipment has been exceptional,” he said. “The sound quality is terrific, the gear is reliable, and the company’s customer support services are excellent. At one of the recent Romney stops, Country music artist T.G. Shepard performed. Like our client, both he and his engineer were very impressed with the system’s sound and performance. D.A.S. Audio’s combination of sound quality, thoughtful features, and support services are the best possible. I never cease to be impressed with this equipment.” To learn more about MTI Sound, visit the company online at www.mtisound.com. About D.A.S. D.A.S. AUDIO THE DRIVING AUDIO FORCE BEHIND THIS YEAR’S OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE CELEBRATION

Extensive sound reinforcement setup for 75,000 attendees

Los Angeles, CA – October 2012… Billed as the "largest celebration of the Virgin Mary in a

generation,” approximately 75,000 believers descended upon the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on

Sunday afternoon, August 5th, to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe, the long-revered symbol of the

Mexican Catholic Church. Providing sound reinforcement for an event of this magnitude requires a

sizeable quantity of loudspeakers with great sound quality plus solid throw and horizontal dispersion

characteristics. That’s why Huntington Beach, CA-based 7F Audio deployed loudspeakers from the

Aero Series 2 and Road catalogs of Valencia, Spain-based D.A.S. Audio.

Luis Muñoz, Owner of 7F Audio, discussed the project, “This event was sponsored by the Knights of

Columbus in conjunction with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the Instituto Superior de Estudios

Guadalupanos and, each year, it attracts a huge crowd. The event was produced for the Knights of

Columbus by Michael Macari from EVTV, which is based in Stamford, CT and locally, by John

Semerdjian from Watermark Event Management.

Filling the LA Coliseum with clear, consistent coverage is no small task. That’s precisely why we

deployed a large number of Aero 50 3-way, large format line array enclosures, Aero 12A powered, 2-

way mid-high line array elements, as well as Road 12A monitor wedges.

The sound reinforcement system Muñoz and his crew assembled consisted of twelve D.A.S. Aero 50

enclosures plus three Aero 12A’s that served as down fills for each side of the main stage. The primary

outfills consisted of another sixteen Aero 50’s—eight enclosures per side. Additionally, eight Aero 12A

enclosures per side were deployed for secondary outfills. The D.A.S. Audio Aero 50 is an externally

powered, high efficiency line array module that integrates two 15-inch low frequency transducers, four

8-inch transducers for the midrange, and two neodymium compression drivers with 1.5-inch exits for

the high frequency. The Aero 12A is a powered system incorporating one 12-inch loudspeaker with a

neodymium magnetic assembly and a neodymium compression driver with a 1.5-inch exit. Power is

supplied by a 3rd generation Class D system with 500 W for the LF and 100 W for the HF. Subwoofers

consisted of six dual 18-inch enclosures of a proprietary design.

Onstage, there were four Aero 12A enclosures per side for sidefills and another four Aero 12A’s

positioned across the front of the stage for front fill. Eight D.A.S. Audio Road 12A, 2-way stage monitors

were also deployed for the event. Positioned approximately 330 feet out from the main stage, the 7F

Audio crew placed two delay towers. Each tower consisted of eight Aero 50 enclosures. Crown Audio i-

T12000 HD power amps drove the Aero 50 enclosures.

Muñoz discussed his reasons for deploying the D.A.S. Audio system. “I am continually impressed with

the sound quality of the D.A.S. Audio Aero Series 2 loudspeakers,” he said. “And for a venue the size

of the Coliseum, the Aero 50’s have great throw and broad horizontal dispersion. The system we built

provided clear, natural sounding reproduction throughout the audience areas. I was also very

impressed with D.A.S. Audio’s customer and technical support services. Carlos Henao was a

tremendous resource and actually came on site to help ensure everything went according to plan.”

With this year’s Our Lady of Guadalupe Celebration now in the rear view mirror, Muñoz reports the

event was a huge success. “The event featured prayer, music and dance, as well as remarks from

Archbishop José Gomez of Los Angeles and several other religious leaders,” Muñoz reports. “The

music sounded terrific through the system and, when people spoke, you could clearly understand every

last word. The people who attended were really enthusiastic and complimentary about the quality of the

sound they heard.”

D.A.S. AUDIO DELIVERS SUMMER CONCERT SERIES AT PROVIDENT BANK PARK

Big, full-bodied sound provides consistent coverage across all audience areas

Ramapo, NY – August 2012 … Provident Bank Park is home to the Rockland Boulders minor league baseball team as well as the St. Thomas Aquinas College baseball team. Opened in June of 2011, the stadium is also undergoing its first season as a summer concert venue. Featuring a variety of well-known acts, including Gavin DeGraw, Colbie Caillat, Gretchen Wilson, REO Speedwagon, and Smashmouth, among others, Provident Bank Park has rapidly become an important destination for sports and entertainment. To ensure the best possible audio quality for its patrons, stadium management wanted a world-class sound system. They found it with a collection of loudspeakers drawn from the Aero Series 2 catalog of Valencia, Spain-based D.A.S. Audio. Dynamic Productions, a full event production, sound, lighting and staging company headquartered in Orangeburg, NY, was contracted to provide staging, lighting, sound, video, and full production support for this season’s concert series. Working in conjunction with D.A.S. Audio’s Miami, FL-based office, company owner Brian Rosenblum and his team deployed a sound system incorporating numerous Aero 12A powered, compact, 2-way, line array modules, LX-218CA powered, high performance subwoofers, Aero 8A powered, ultra-compact, 2-way line array modules, and Road 12A, powered, 2-way stage monitors. Rosenblum discussed the project. “Being a relatively new stadium that had never hosted any prior concerts, we found ourselves with a clean slate in terms of what equipment would be deployed,” Rosenblum explained. “The stage is located in the outfield about 60 feet behind second base and it faces in toward home plate. The main challenges in this venue were that the audience could potentially be seated up to 350’ away from the PA (behind and above home plate), and well beyond 1

st and 3

rd base. This required a PA system

capable of long distance throw and wide 180+ degree coverage. Because of this unique situation, we consulted with D.A.S. Audio’s Carlos Henao in an effort to ensure we provided a good loudspeaker fit.” The system Henao modeled for this project included a primary setup that involved a total of thirty-two D.A.S. Audio Aero 12A’s—positioned sixteen enclosures per side for the house mains. These loudspeakers were augmented by outfills on the extreme left and right—each encompassing six Aero 8A’s. To ensure coverage across the front area of the stage, Rosenblum’s team placed another four Aero 12A’s for front fill. Low frequency support is equally impressive, with sixteen D.A.S. LX-218CA sub bass enclosures on the scene—in a staggered center configuration. Completing the setup, a D.A.S. Audio DSP-4080 digital processor was deployed to handle loudspeaker management tasks. Rosenblum commented on D.A.S. Audio’s customer service, “I couldn’t be more impressed with the company’s technical support. Carlos modeled the entire system for us and even came on-site to ensure everything was going according to plan. That level of support is rare in this business and we really appreciate all that he did.”

With the Summer Concert Series in full swing, Rosenblum reports that everything is going really well and that several engineers responded very positively to the system. Jerad ‘Gremlin’ Reimers, FOH Sound Engineer for Soul Asylum and ReadyGoes said, “I had never worked on a powered PA of that size before and was very impressed by its range and durability. The system delivered fantastic clarity and great overall sonic representation and response. I can't wait to work on another DAS system.” Similarly, Neil Schaefer, FOH engineer for REO Speedwagon, said, “My first opportunity to use the D.A.S. Aero system (Aero 12a/LX218a) was a very positive experience. I was pleasantly surprised at the crisp smooth high end and very solid frequency response. I look forward to the next chance to get in front of this system.” “Everybody is very happy with the sound,” Rosenblum said. “You can walk through the venue and, everywhere you go, the sound is clear, musical, and coverage is consistent. We’ve had numerous members of the audience tell us how good everything sounds. Perhaps even more important, our client is very pleased. With a first-time endeavor of this nature, you don’t always know what to expect. For us, the project has turned out to be everything that we envisioned—and D.A.S. Audio was a major part of our success.” For additional information about Dynamic Productions, visit the company online at www.dynamicprodusa.com. About D.A.S.
