WE DEDICATE OUR NEWSLETTER TO Anna Crow, Lucia Lietsch & Vicki Shepherd
Anna lived at Lake View Apartments for 12 years. She was born and raised in Verona, Italy. Anna enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, crosswords, cooking, and visiting with her friends at Hope Haven. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.

We lost a family member at Gugeler, but her memory and the many fun times we had will carry on. Lucia came to Gugeler in 2002. She fit right in immediately as she came from a very large family and had no problem joining the large family at Gugeler. Lucia was very detailed oriented and never forgot a birthday. She en-joyed sending birthday cards to all her family members and enjoyed sharing craft items or colored pictures with family and staff. She was such a kind person and very funny with her one liners.
Her love for travel was contagious. While at Gugeler, Lucia was able to do a lot of traveling and went to Branson, Wisconsin Dells, Chicago, Michigan City in Indiana, and LeClair to the Ameri-can Pickers. Lucia loved Steamboat Days , and she grooved the night away with staff and peers to all genres of music.
Lucia brought a childlike love of life and innocence to Gugeler and made us think of things in a much simpler way by just saying things the way they were. She was quick to ask for a hug and staff would tell her to squeeze tight to make sure we could feel the love. We miss you sweet Lulubean.

Vicki attended Hope Haven where she worked and took classes. She was a participant in Special Olympics. She was known as a bit of a prankster, so you had to watch your back. Vicki will be remembered and missed by her friends at Hope Haven.

We spent a week in April on a vacation in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and stayed in a beautiful cabin in the Smokey Mountains. We enjoyed the Ober tram ride to the top of a mountain, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, an evening at the Dixie Stampede for a supper show, and nights out on the town for amazing suppers, scenery, and shopping. Our day at Cades Cove was beautiful and complete with several bear sightings. On our return, we stopped inNashville and went to the Johnny Cash museum. We thank everyone for their efforts to make these trips possible. Special thanks to Linda Edle for our custom made back of the seat organizers that made the long drive a little easier.
GUGELER GROUP HOME TRIP
Summer is a great time at Brueck Home. We are able to go to community events, cook on the patio, go to the park and enjoy the beauty around town. Steamboat Days is a favorite for both Ertz Home and Brueck Homes. Pictures with band members is an amazing and exciting event for us. Special Persons Day was a huge hit again this year; we enjoyed food, socialization, games and rides.
We have had fun with the staff putting in some flowers outside in front of the Brueck Home. When the sun goes down we go outside and water the plants. So far, they are surviving the heat.
Cooking out on the patio and playing patio games is great fun. We all love to be outside when the weather permits. If we cannot get outside we have plenty of activities we do in the Group Home.

FIRST EVER WELLNESS FAIROn July 6th the Wellness Committee held their first ever Wellness Fair to kick off the 2016-2017 wellness program. We had several booths set up and people were able to gather information, get a massage, have their blood pressure and BMI taken. This helped people to earn points for their wellness program. We also had three $100 cash winners and three $50 cash winners. We had about 80 people attend and hope it was fun and informative. We hope this gets everyone in the mood to complete their wellness program and get the targeted 1000 points by next July.
