If your child is late to school (i.e. after the main yard gates are closed), please bring them into the main entrance and make sure a member of the office staff let them through the ele ctronic doors. If you just ‘drop them off’, we cou ld be having a fire practice etc. and your child would be unattended in the entrance. Please make sure they are inside school before yo u leave. CROSSING LITTLEMOOR LANE AND PARKING
We now have a new Crossing Patrol Warden, so please impress on your children that theyshould use the warden when they try to cross the road. Again we are asking that you parksensitively when you bring and collect your children, bearing in mind not blocking our
neighbours’ drives or double parking and causing problems for childrentrying to cross the roads. Additionally, please do not park ON the
pavement, as buggies and wheelchairs need the space on the footpath,as well as it being dangerous for children if you try to drive on the path. Thank youfor your co-operation.
CONTRIBUTIONS TO OUR NEWSLETTERWe are encouraging the children to contribute to our weekly newsletter with
stories, pictures and items of interest they have done in the classroom ouroutside school. The contributions this week are from Year 5, Green &Yellow classes. Look out for more class contributions in the comingweeks……
This year the Olympics and Paralympics come back to England. Through ourschool links with Sainsbury’s we have been given a Paralympics kit containingblindfolds, nets and special balls, and instructions for some games. One game was‘blind’ football. Teams have 5 players, 4 of whom are blindfolded, with the
goalkeeper being the only sighted team member. On Friday, in the schoolhall, a team of adults,who work forSainsbury’s played ayear 5 team of primeathletes at ‘blind’football. The first half allwent Balby Central’sway, with goal after goalbeing scored by AlexJepson and Zak Timms.The team werecommunicating well andmoved confidently
despite being unable to see. The score at half-time was 6 – 0.
After hurried team talks at half-time, Sainsbury’s changed theirtactics. It certainly paid off. Theyhad a striker up front and a newgoal keeper, whose strong vocalcommands, enabled them tomake a good comeback. Theysoon started scoring and thegoal difference went quicklydown. As the whistle blew Balbyfinished 2 goals up, with a scoreof 6 – 4. Well done to all theteam!
