Principal’s Message Kia ora e te Whānau A warm, wintery welcome back to Term 3. I hope that everyone had a fantas@c break and some quality family @me. Year 4 to 8 Mid Year Progress Reports are coming home on Friday. If you need help understanding these, please visit the website or talk to your child’s teacher. Reports should have no surprises in them and will give you an accurate picture of how your child is progressing in rela@on to the Na@onal Standards. Goal SeNng Interviews for all children are next week and these will be a good opportunity to see how your child is progressing and to set some new goals for the remainder of the year. This Term’s value is ‘Perseverance’ and our key competency focus is ‘Par@cipa@ng and Contribu@ng’. We hope the focus on these will help children get the most out of their learning and will boost their confidence in prepara@on for the produc@on. As you can see the hard court is almost completed, and I’m sure the kids will be ready to shoot some hoops when the new posts are installed. All going to plan, it should be ready next week. The new build is due to start next month. This will be a very exci@ng development for the school for the remainder of the year. Please keep suppor@ng the school in any way you can. We do appreciate everyone’s input and I believe the more you put in, the more you will get out of being a part of the Broadfield family. Kind regards Mike Molloy Principal Welcome A warm Broadfield welcome to the following families: Riley and his parent Nikki and Brendon Caden and his parents Helen and Jeremy James and his parents Louisa and Rob Jada, Mekhi, Elijah and Phoenix and their parents Angela and Michael 1 Term 3 / Issue 12 / 23 July 2015

Enviro  News  Flash  :  Worms  are  lactose  and  gluten  intolerant!    Well,  sort  of.    Te  Ahu  Pa@ki  has  recently  started  up  some  worm  farms  for  recycling  the  food  scraps  from  the  children's  lunches.  Surprisingly,  worms  can't  be  given  bread,  meat  or  dairy  products.  To  make  the  most  of  the  valuable  daily  resource  of  uneaten  food,  we're  now  collec@ng  scraps  in  two  buckets:  one  for  the  worms  and  the  other  for  the  vegetable  gardens.  As  for  the  wrappers  -‐  they  are  all  being  taken  home  as  so  many  of  our  parents  are  now  providing  their  children  with  reusable  containers  for  their  morning  tea  and  lunch.  We  are  grateful  to  our  students  and  parents  for  taking  up  the  Enviro  challenge  and  making  it  such  a  success.  We  will  be  removing  the  outdoor  bins  shortly.  !Community  No7ces  Broadfield  Netball  Club  -‐  are  having  a  Ball  evening  as  the  club’s  main  fundraiser  for  the  year.    To  be  held  at  the  Lincoln  Events  centre,  Saturday  15  August,  with  entertainment  from  the  Vague  As  Brothers.  Get  some  friends  together  and  come  along  for  a  night  of  fun  and  dancing.    See  flier  below  for  more  informaDon,  or  talk  to  Fran  at  school  or  on  3477395.
