PRAYER– HOLY TRINITY
Glory be to the Father, Who by His almighty power and love
created me, making me in the image and likeness of God.
Glory be to the Son, Who by His Precious Blood saved me,
and opened for me the gates of heaven.
Glory be to the Holy Spirit, Who has sanctified me in the
sacrament of Baptism, and continues to sanctify me by His
graces.
Glory be to the Three adorable Persons of the Holy Trinity,
now and forever. Amen.

SPECIALISM SUCCESS Year 12 CAUK Business students have successfully secured 4-6 week paid internships with a range of local companies including Astra Zeneca, Barclays and Peaks and Plains Housing Trust. Also providing 6 week paid placements are two ex Business students, Danny Towns, Managing Director and Chrome Motors Ltd and Tim Mears, owner of an IT company called Axon. Both students left All Hallows over 15 years ago after completing the same type of business qualification the current Y12 students are following. Danny went on to work in marketing with a large multi-national company before settling as Managing Director with Chrome Motors, whilst Tim, with his entrpreneurial flair went on to set up and run his own companies. Placements are due to start from 23 June, with some running through the summer until 15 August. The students will be given job roles and a real business project to work on. At the same time, the same students are being mentored by their partners in business. This provides further opportunity for insight into the real world of work, with visits to their partners place of work often part of the mentoring programme. Sadie Oldfield and Connor Proudman both recently visited their partner Belinda Peach at Media City. With all this experience under their belts, they will have much to write about when they begin to prepare personal statements for their UCAS applications next term.
PARENTS AND PARTNERS - ESAFETY Do you know about Ask.fm? This is a question and answer-based social network. Founded in 2010, Ask.fm lets users ask others questions with the option of anonymity. Answers can be posted in text or video format, and registered users are presented with a feed of questions. The site is available in more than 30 languages and claims that more than 30 million questions and answers are created each day. There has been some concern lately that this social network site is an easy platform for on-line bullying. The leaf-let in our E-Safety section (For Parents, Safeguarding and Support, E-Safety) called Ask FM Online Safety Guidance will provide further support and information about this site.
UNIFORM VOUCHERS Year 8 – 11 students in September 2014 who are in receipt of free school meals will be allocated up to £100.00 towards the cost of replacement uniform. Parents will need to complete a voucher claim form, which can be found on the College website, under Parent Information; Uniform Matters.
BUS PASSES All Hallows will contribute towards Bostock’s Coaches transport costs in cases of hardship, as follows:
Free School Meals
Students in receipt of Free School Meals should initially apply to Cheshire East Council for a concessionary bus pass http://www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/public_transport/school_transport/applications.aspx. If Cheshire East do not make the payment, please complete the claim form available on the College website under Parent Information; Transport and Trips and return to Miss Wakefield in the Finance Office.
Working Tax Credit
Students whose families are in receipt of Working Tax Credit can apply for a refund of up to 50% of College Contract transport costs. Please return the claim form (as detailed above) with supporting documentation to Miss Wakefield in the Finance Office. If you have any queries, please contact the Finance Office on 01625 426 138 or [email protected].
SUMMER WEATHER AND UNIFORM
As the weather is becoming pleasantly warmer staff have been
told to allow students to remove their blazers, and when partic-
ularly warm, their jumpers.
We do ask, though, that as the weather can be changeable that
students continue to bring their jumpers and blazers to College
and we ask parents to make sure that this is happening.

ALL HALLOWS IS AGAINST BULLYING We would like to remind students and parents that our website has links to an anti-bullying email service. [email protected] is the email address that can be used to confidentially report incidents of bullying to a senior teacher. Students are also encouraged to report bullying to their form tutor and Year Learning Leader. We would also like to thank our College Council for their powerful anti-bullying video they have recently produced. This can be found on our website and on You Tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_mdTYLbWVQ . Each year our College Council do a large scale bullying prevention event across All Hallows and this year's video is certainly impressive. In the past they have organised on line pledge against bullying and even had a airplane fly over the College at the same time our students were on the fields spelling out the words All Hallows is against Bullying.
E-SAFETY FOCUS GROUP
We would like to set up an E-Safety focus group of parents. This will involve 3 meetings a year where we will look at E-Safety and identify
any risks. We will then develop actions that we can implement to minimise the risks. If you would like to be part of this group contact Mrs
Williams at college either by phone or email: [email protected].
ATTENDANCE PRIZE DRAW The College is pleased to announce that our attendance rate is currently 95.5% (an increase from 94.1% at the same time last year). This is excellent news and students will certainly benefit from the extra time being spent in lessons. We must not let attendance slip over the last few weeks. We are having a prize draw for any student between Year 7 to Year 10 during the week commencing 23 June 2014. All students who have 100% attendance during this week will be entered into a prize draw and one lucky winner will win £50 worth of vouchers for Amazon to spend as they wish. Students will also win group prizes for their form classes regards attendance in the next celebration assemblies which will be held in July.
CAREERS ADVICE FOR STUDENTS Our new careers advisor, Mrs Jean Pilling, has now seen 202 students for impartial careers interviews since she started in mid-December - 17% of the whole College. If any parents would like their son or daughter to have a careers interview this year then please notify the relevant Year Leader who can ensure names are added to the list. Priority is now with Year 10 who will all be seen over the coming weeks and months. She will also see some Year 9 students over the next few weeks. She has a drop in on Thursday lunchtime for students of any year.
ADVANCED NOTICE Languages Controlled Assessments 2013-2014
Please find below the list of dates for the languages controlled assessments. Each assessment can count for 15% of the final GCSE. Teachers will let your son/daughter know on which dates they will complete assessments. Please avoid time off both on the date and in the lessons preceding these dates. Please contact [email protected] with any queries.

Boys Don't Cry by Malorie Blackman
You're about to receive your A-level results and then a future of university and journalism awaits. But the day
they're due to arrive your old girlfriend Kendra turns up unexpectedly ...with a baby ...You assume Kendra's helping
a friend, until she nips out to buy some essentials, leaving you literally holding the baby.
We are always hearing about young single mums, still kids themselves, whose boyfriend’s do a runner upon wit-
nessing the positive pregnancy test, or after the novelty of a newborn wears off. But what happens when it’s the
dad left holding the baby after the mum runs off because it’s all too much? We rarely hear about that.
That’s what this book aims to address and change
In the Bag by Jim Carrington
Joe and Ash are best friends. Ash is the leader, Joe the one who follows. Then one night after a party, Joe and Ash
come across a holdall, seemingly abandoned by the side of the road. They open it up ...and find £20,000 in cash. Of
course they're going to hand it straight to the police. Aren't they? Or is all that money just too tempting? Whoever has
lost it won't notice if a bit goes missing, will they? And that is precisely when the trouble starts ...Jim Carrington has
already established himself as a fine writer for teens with his debut novel, Inside My Head. With In the Bag, he shows
how horribly easy it is for two teenage boys to make a car crash of their lives, through an unlucky combination of
being in the wrong place at the wrong time and making a handful of wrong decisions.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS Over the last week of College attendance was as follows:
Year 7 - 96.1% (up 1.7%, well done Year 7)
Year 8 - 96.5% (up 1.2%, well done Year 8)

Year 10 - 96.3% (up 1.6%, well done Year 10)
Year 11 will not be on our stats from now onwards due to official study leave.
This was an excellent week. The average for the week was 95.6% (up 2.6% on the

aim for 97%.
Last week GIRLS attendance has increased 3.1% to 95.3%, BOYS attendance has increased 2.4% to 96.0%. Since 3rd September boys

Parents are politely reminded to avoid absence unless it is absolutely necessary. Thank you for your on-going support regarding medical absence and
holiday absence.
Holiday absence from College
Holidays have not been authorised since 1st September 2013 under new legislation on all English schools. Requests for holidays must still be made in
writing to the appropriate Key Stage leader (Mrs Garvey KS5, Mr Blades KS4 and Mr Diamond KS3), but in the vast majority of cases they will be unauthor-
ised. A Fixed Penalty Notice may be issued of £60 per parent / carer per student, to be paid within 21 days, otherwise the penalty will rise to £120 per par-
ent / carer to be paid within 28 days. If the penalty remains unpaid then the matter will proceed to the Magistrates Court where you will receive a criminal
record if you are found guilty.
Medical absence from College
Whilst the College requires parents to contact us on each day of absence , school policy now requires that any student who accumulates 7 or more days of
absence during the course of the academic year will be asked to provide medical confirmation of the need to be absent before any further absences are
authorised for medical reasons. This is a necessary measure as we closely monitor absence due to illness / medical reasons in order that we can ensure
students are supported where needed.
For your information medical confirmation does not have to be a doctor's note but can also take the form of a medical appointment card, a copy of a rele-
vant dated prescription or evidence of medication being taken
If no medical evidence is provided then the absence will be coded as unauthorised. Ten or more unauthorised absences may result in you receiving a Fixed
Penalty Notice. This incurs a penalty of £60 per parent / carer to be paid within 21 days, otherwise the penalty will rise to £120 per parent / carer to be paid
within 28 days. If the penalty remains unpaid then the matter will proceed to the Magistrates Court where you will receive a criminal record
if you are found guilty.
The link between attendance and achievement is well researched and documented and students should be aiming for an attendance rate
of no less than 97% over the year. Thank you for your continued support with this importance issue
