receive the recognition that they

deserve.

It is also timely to thank our great

LPPS volunteers for their continued

support of our school. One of the

significant outcomes of this

wonderful support is that we further

develop a culture of giving in our

school. A spirit of support and

helping is contagious. We know

National Volunteer Week is

Australia’s largest celebration of

volunteers. Today there are over 6

million people volunteering

annually in Australia, representing

36% of the adult population.

Volunteering Australia, along with

its state and territory networks,

recognises the valuable contribution

each individual provides by offering

their time, skills and passion,

continuing to demonstrate

Australia’s proud culture of giving.

Living in the Yarra Valley – an area

where we certainly are subjected to

extreme weather, it is great to know

that we are in capable hands. Our

volunteer services should indeed

positive values and the support and

participation of parents in our school

programs, inspires the staff and

students to even greater heights.

You cannot measure this easily, nor

can you quantify the results but we

do know that many of us are willing

to go the extra mile if we know our

efforts are valued. Our volunteers

are the unsung heroes of LPPS and

their efforts

inspire us all

our school a

food can trigger anaphylaxis.

Anaphylaxis is the most severe form

of allergic reaction and is potentially

life threatening. It must be treated as

a medical emergency, requiring

immediate treatment and urgent

medical attention.

Unfortunately the risk cannot be

removed but it can be managed.

Our school plays an important role

by ensuring all staff are trained to:

know how to reduce the

possibility of a reaction.

Did you know that this week is Food

Allergy Week? Food allergy now

nuts, sesame, fish, shellfish, wheat

and soy are the most common food

triggers, which cause 90 percent of

As well, we aim to ensure that our

looked at chance, we solved lots of

worded problems and we focused

on the 8, 9 and 10’s timetables.

We are really enjoying learning

about the planets; the order, size

and making up rhymes.

Grade 5/6: The Grade 6 students

went the ANZAC memorial

service. They represented our

school with great pride and should

be congratulated on their

behaviour. In the classroom we

have been busy learning more

about fractions. We have started

looking at creating sizzling starts

and interesting characters on our

story writing.

Principal: Well done to our Grade

6’s for the fantastic way that they

represented our school at the

combined school special ANZAC

ceremony at the RSL in Yarra

Junction.

School Captain’s Report Prep: We are really enjoying

Literacy groups and revised the

letters f and d. We looked at ‘ot’

rhyming words. Our word of the

week was ‘we’. In Maths we

looked at ordinal numbers 1st to

5th and made our own number

lines to help us count forwards and

backwards. We explored 3D

shapes in the environment. In

Science we talked about what

body parts we use to do

movements.

strategies of making a mental

picture and retelling what we read.

We have finished our group work

with place value and enjoyed using

skewers, marshmallows and fruit

loops to represent numbers. We

have learnt about marsupials and

are practising our songs for

education week.

Grade 3/4: This week we

continued to work on writing

persuasive arguments, and writing

the correct structure. In Maths we

LET’S GO FAMILY DAY CARE

A locally run scheme, providing warm, nurturing care to

small groups of children

At Lets Go Family Day Care, we put the "Family" into Family

Day Care.

Children are cared for in a warm, safe, homely environment

that consists of only a small group of children.

We have vacancies for care in Warburton, Yarra Junction, Wesburn and Millgrove.

Our educators are qualified and trained to provide the best possible care for your child. Each

educator is monitored and supported by our coordination unit, to enable them to continually grow

professionally within themselves.

Reduced fees are available as we are CCB and CCR approved through the Department of

Education.

If you have any enquiries in relation to finding care for your child, or if you would like to find out

how to become an educator, please call Olivia Moller on 59 647 244 or 0402315332.

PIANO LESSONS ARE

HERE

BEGINNER PIANO LESSONS FOR YOUNG & OLD

Piano is hard work! Piano takes years to get anywhere! You need to

practice scales and exercises for a long time before you get to have

any fun and play great songs...

WRONG!!!

Piano can be fun straight away. You can learn to play two-handed

tunes in your first lesson! Piano instruction has come a long way in

the last few decades. New techniques and approaches allow for the

student to enjoy the learning process and experience making music

straight away. Piano is a journey, not a destination, so the experience

should be enjoyable.

I specialise in absolute beginners for children and adults. Cost is $20

upfront for materials, and $20 per 25 minute lesson. Students will

take home songs and exercises to practice. Private lessons are being

offered for the kids at Launching Place Primary School each

Thursday morning starting on the 13th of March. Private lessons are

also available for children and adults outside these hours by

appointment.

If you or your child have always wanted to learn piano, I would love

to help you make this come true.
