The staff and I thank you so very much for your good wishes, cards and
extremely generous Christmas gifts. Your kindness is deeply appreciated.
We warmly wish our boys, parents and friends of the school, a very happy and fruitful
2019.
NUTS IN SCHOOL
Whilst we are not a ‘Nut Free’ School we do have several children
that have extreme reactions to nuts, even being around those eating nuts. Therefore,
we would ask that wherever possible you do not send nuts in with your child for snack
time or for lunch. The well-being and safety of the boys is paramount and we do every-
thing we can to ensure we are keeping all the boys as healthy and safe as possible.
EDMUND RICE ADVOCACY GROUP
‘Tastes of Home’ – An advocacy project organised by Edmund Rice England. They have brought together a recipe book compiled from favourite and typical dishes shared by those seeking asylum and refugees we work with at Asylum Link Merseyside and Serv in Salford.
The idea is to share recipes which remind people of home. It includes anecdotes of why and where this dish is eaten and the importance of sharing food together.
Costs of recipes and any difficulty in obtaining ingredients will also be included to high-light the economic hardship experienced by asylum seekers on the paltry allowance they receive.
With help from the teachers at ALM and Serv we will compile the information and
invite contributors to send photos of themselves, their families and the food.
From our Edmund Rice International groups in schools and via the school network we will elicit contributions of funding and sponsorship.
All sales from the finished books will go directly to aiding ALM and Serv.
Cost of the book is £5 and if anyone would like a copy please send the money in to Miss Waters and she will send the book home.
Please take a look at the link below for more information.

PREP 4 DRAMA
Prep 4 really enjoyed their afternoon in St Ambrose College with GCSE and 3rd Year Drama
students. The GCSE students treated the Prep 4s to a physical theatre performance of Lewis Carroll’s poem ‘The Jabberwocky’, which Prep 4 have recently studied. The Prep and the College then worked together on an intensive physical theatre workshop, led by the College’s Head of Drama, Mrs Bull. The afternoon culminated in a collaborative performance of extracts from Lewis Carroll’s other
famous work, and past college production, The Hunting of the Snark.
The Prep 4 boys were inspired by the talent and they loved creating absurd and imaginative crea-tures using their bodies. The Prep 4 boys are excited to try out physical theatre this term and the 3rd Year students in the College will be invited to visit the Prep in a few months’ time to see how the Prep uses Drama in their Creative Writing unit. It was a privilege to be invited to the College and the boys benefitted so much from this experience. A big thank you to Mrs. Bull for booking us into the studio and preparing all the drama material. This was a great occasion to connect with the College and as a lot of the Prep 4s will be attending the College in September this was a great transition
opportunity too.
