Properties of Velas Resorts debut their new logos, created by the in-house Corporate Communication Department. The brand new image will be soon present in every printed and electronic material emitted by the resorts. Now, unique essence and personality showing refined and fresh lines are hold by the four properties.

VELAS VALLARTA The stunning backdrop of Puerto Vallarta, with the Sierra Madre and the Pacific Ocean co-existing so gracefully, is usually dotted with sailboats, ships and vessels sailing the waters of Banderas Bay: this image is captured and resembeld in the new logo of Velas Vallarta. To make it even more meaningful, lastname ‘Vela’, of Vela’s Family, is translated to ‘sail’ into English.

CASA VELASSophisticated and unique, peacock is one of the most beautiful birds in the animal world; when unfold, its long feathers showcase an elegant burst of colors ranging from green to dark blue, and the tips end with oval forms that give the sense of being looking straight into an eye -called eyespot-. Taking this majestic animal as the flagship of Casa Velas, is an attempt to reflect the lavish natural environment that surrounds the hotel, as well as the commitment to preserve nature.

GRAND VELASThe 8-petal lotus flower, which has been chosen as main symbol of these resorts, is taken form the Hindu philosophy as a symbol of harmony as well as mental and physical health, which are intimately related to the experience the resorts aim to provide.

Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit announces it has received the American Automobile Association’s (AAA) Five Diamond Award 2016 for excellence in quality and service for a complete decade. It is the only luxury All Inclusive in North America to have won this major award for ten years on a row. This prestigious distinction follows on the heels of Grand Velas’ having had the most successful year in its history. In another milestone, last year it completed a $20 million renovation, from upgrades in the Spa and gourmet restaurants to new Wellness Suites, a state of the art Teens’ Club and stylish Lobby Bar.

At a ceremony celebrating the award, Tony Perrone, Manager – Mexico for AAA Travel, said, “Over the years Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit has set the standard for all of Mexico for quality and consistency in both hotel service and facilities. They are surely a leader in the industry, a distinction achieved because of the total commitment of the ownership, management and staff,” he continued.

A highlight of the renovation was twelve new Wellness Suites for travelers seeking an all-encompassing wellness retreat that include a personal Spa Concierge, in-suite fitness amenities, in-suite massages and more. Creating a contemporary space where teens from 13-18 years old can enjoy their own mini vacation, the resort’s new Teen's Club enhances the family offerings with an extensive game room and chill out zone with soft drinks and favorite deli snacks to enjoy. Koi Sports Bar and Dancing Lounge is the new entertainment option at the resort. Highlights of the casually elegant space include a 27-ft. dramatic marble bar, state of the art sound and video equipment, and comfortable seating groups. A DJ spins the latest hits for guests’ listening and dancing pleasure with a dedicated dance floor.

In addition to Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit’s 10th Anniversary, its sister resort Grand Velas Riviera Maya and its signature fine-dining restaurant Cocina de Autor have also been awarded the Five Diamond Award. The resort group’s adults-only property, Casa Velas, is the recipient of the AAA Four Diamond Award, along with its Emiliano restaurant, three restaurants at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit and two restaurants at Grand Velas Riviera Maya. For the second year in a row, Velas Resorts boasts a total of 43 AAA Diamonds.

Each year the 56 million member strong AAA’s inspectors review more than 28,000 lodgings and nearly 30,000 restaurants. Last year over 65,000 lodgings were reviewed. Of those, only 120 worldwide earned the coveted 5 Diamonds.

Velas Vallarta and Casa Velas were awarded once more with the "S" Certification (Distintivo S), which recognizes those establishments committed to best sustainable practices and responsible use of natural resources. Ministry of Tourism of Federal Government in Mexico, in collaboration with Rainforest Alliance and EarthCheck -leading companies in environmental management, granted the recognition.

This certification acknowledges the effort made year after year to develop green projects that have a national and international impact.

The Signature Spa of Grand Velas Riviera Maya expands its luxurious offerings with the debut of three new spa cabanas. Perched atop the Ambassador three-tiered pool, the new spa cabanas feature a select menu of new therapeutic treatments to enjoy while overlooking the dramatic views of the Caribbean.

Grand Velas Riviera Maya treats guests to a taste of the Yucatan’s past with its new cocktail showcasing local Mayan flare. The cocktail features Xtabentún, a Mayan liqueur with honey infused from the native Xtabentún flower. The Xtabentún flower and liqueur are common elements in a variety of Mayan legends that have been passed down generation after generation.

Guests staying at the resort are able to sip on this cocktail at the resort’s rooftop Sky Bar while enjoying radiant sunsets and panoramic views of the azure Caribbean waters. Guests unable to travel to Mexico but wish to taste the Mayan tales now can make the Grand Velas cocktail at home with the following recipe:

INGREDIENTS

• 1 ½ oz - Xtabentun Mayan Liqueur• 4 cubes - Pineapple• ½ cup - Club Soda

• 2 ice cubes• Orange slice• 2 tbsp. - Lime juice

METHOD

First, pour the lime juice and the Xtabentún Mayan liqueur in a glass with ice. Then, add the pineapple cubes and stir. Finally pour club soda on top and garnish with an orange slice. Enjoy!
