WELCOME BACK! It’s really lovely to see all the families back at school for the last term of the year. I’d like to particularly welcome our preschoolers who will be joining us for Kindergarten 2020. GREAT NEWS! CREATIVE KIDS VOUCHERS NOW AVAILABLE Thanks to the hard work of our P&C Vice President, Tereasa Bennett, our instrument lesson program has received approval as a Creative Kids Voucher Provider. This means that all students enrolled in the instrument program will be eligible for a $100 credit on their fees this year. Details about how to apply for the voucher will be sent home in the next couple of days. This is a great outcome for all our families, and I'm sure you'll join with me in thanking Tereasa for her initiative and hard work.

WORDS OF THE WEEK

K-2: site Site menas a place or location. We had a picnic at the beautiful site on our property.

3-6: archival Archival is a word used when you’re talking about keeping valuable documents. The school has a special storeroom where we keep our archival records.

FILM FESTIVAL

Students from Years 1, 5 and 6 participated in creation of a number of short films entered into the inaugural Film by the Tweed festival. A group of local schools have begun the film festival to showcase the talents of our students, building on the successful “Film By…” programs run throughout the state. As the entrant films were selected to be shown, we have been invited to attend a matinee and an evening performance on 30th October 2019.

A note will go home inviting participants to attend the matinee performance at 1pm by bus, during school hours (the school has already purchased these tickets). There is also an exciting red carpet event and evening showing that night, with the films shown at 7pm.

If you, families or friends would like to attend, you can book a seat using this link: https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=547614&

Any profits will go to running the event in future years. We are delighted that many of the films shown at the event are by our students at Uki Public School. They demonstrated a commitment to learning in film making: acting, filming, writing and editing to name a few skills developed.
