NEWSLETTER 25th September 2020 ST LAWRENCE CE PRIMARY SCHOOL Acting Head Teacher: Emma Thorp B ED NPQH We would usually encourage pupils to bring in certificates, medals and trophies which they have been awarded out of school for such things as musical and sporting achievements. At present, we are unable to do this but if your child has had success in an activity out of school, I would ask you to post a message to the class teacher on Tapestry. I will still be visiting the classes to celebrate such achievements, fortnightly on a Friday. Monday 19th October - please can pupils come to school dressed up in an outfit linked to their topic. Today, all class teachers in Key Stage One and Key Stage Two have posted curriculum targets on Tapestry for each child. Support at home for the targets would be much appreciated. Please ask your child's teacher if you have any questions about the targets. Well, it has been an interesting week! Just as I was thinking we were settling in nicely to our new routines, we woke up on Tuesday to no water for most of the village. Thank you for your co-operation and understanding regarding the unexpected school closure. The pupils are now really immersed in their Autumn Term topics and are enjoying all the creative learning opportunities. Whilst the weather allows, we are making the most of our outdoor facilities within the school grounds.

NEWSLETTER 25th September 2020

ST LAWRENCE CE PRIMARY SCHOOL Acting Head Teacher: Emma Thorp B ED NPQH

We would usually encourage pupils to bring in certificates, medals and trophies which they

have been awarded out of school for such things as musical and sporting achievements. At

present, we are unable to do this but if your child has had success in an activity out

of school, I would ask you to post a message to the class teacher on Tapestry. I will

still be visiting the classes to celebrate such achievements, fortnightly on a Friday.

Monday 19th October - please can pupils come to

school dressed up in an outfit linked to their topic.

Today, all class

teachers in Key Stage

One and Key Stage Two

have posted curriculum

targets on Tapestry for each

child. Support at home for

the targets would be much

appreciated. Please ask your

child's teacher if you have

any questions about the

targets.

Well, it has been an interesting week! Just as I was thinking

we were settling in nicely to our new routines, we woke up on

Tuesday to no water for most of the village. Thank you for

your co-operation and understanding regarding the

unexpected school closure.

The pupils are now really immersed in their Autumn Term

topics and are enjoying all the creative learning

opportunities. Whilst the weather allows, we are making the

most of our outdoor facilities within the school grounds.

Please click here for a reminder of our procedures in

case of pupils or staff displaying Covid-19 symptoms.

Thank you for respecting these procedures

which are in line with Government guidance.

Thank you to those who have returned

updated data collection sheets. We would like to

stress the importance of keeping contact details up

to date and ask that you provide details of at least

two adults who we can telephone in an emergency, in

case we are unable to reach the main contact.

Friday 6 November Flu vaccinations

Tuesday 10 November 5.30 Parent consultations

Thursday 12 November 3.30 Parent consultations

Friday 11 December Christmas Jumper day

Friday 18 December End of Autumn term

School census day is on Thursday 1st October

this term. Please can we encourage as many child-

ren as possible in the Foundation Stage, Year 1

and Year 2 to try a school meal on that day. The take-

up on this day affects our meals funding for the year

and Chartwells are providing a special menu.

Now that the weather is getting

colder, please remember to send

your child to school with a

St Lawrence sweatshirt or

cardigan and a suitable coat

for wet and windy weather. We

are required to have doors and

windows open to ensure the school

is well-ventilated at present.

Thank you for respecting social distancing guidelines and for wearing a mask at drop-off and

pick-up times; I know these measures are very reassuring for staff and parents.
