Sports Day
It was lovely to see so many of our families join us for Sports Day last week. We are super pleased that we were
able to hold sports day and have families attend safely.
Our Leavers
This is always a bittersweet moment in the life of our school. We are so proud that our pupils are ready to move
onto new adventures after their time at Greenmead but at the same time they will be missed so much. Our leavers
and their families will always be a part of our Greenmead community so we hope to hear how they are getting on
in their new schools and see them over the coming years. Thank you for inspiring us all!

End of year message from Chair of Governors
“What an extraordinary year. I hope you and your family are bearing up despite everything. I have been very proud
of the way Toni and the staff at Greenmead have discharged their role in the most challenging of circumstances. The
school sent learning materials home to children and kept in contact with families whilst the school was
closed. Greenmead opened ahead of many other schools and was able to welcome children back. Having opened,
the school has stayed open even as the wider society went into and out of lockdowns. We’ve had some staff who
were off sick with Covid and had to have substantial time out of school but somehow the team kept the show on the
road. In doing so, the school put in place a recovery curriculum, largely devised by Roxanne in collaboration with
teachers, to enable the children to resume learning and continue making progress. We were so pleased and grateful
to our parents that the school enjoyed such high attendance levels. For Covid-related reasons I have not been able to
come into school to see any classes recently, but all the reports I get are that the children are doing well and appear
pleased to be back.
I hope that is also your experience. I wish you the best for the summer and look forward to a more normal life next
term.”
Paul
Venus class doing what they love the most; being creative and enjoying messy play whilst building on social
skills, communication and independence
Titan class have enjoyed a range of activities
this term including the bubble lady’s visit,
making pizzas and enjoying sensory stories.
End of Term Fun
All the pupils enjoyed a special treat on Thursday. Bonnie, the bubble lady came to visit and the pupils enjoyed a
bubble demonstration, chasing and catching bubbles and getting inside bubbles. We’d like to thank Cerim’s mum and
dad who organised a donation for this to happen.
Saying Goodbye to Staff
It’s always hard to say good-bye to staff who have had such a huge impact on the lives of the pupils but also on our
school community. Thank you for all of your support, commitment and for making sure that our pupils always
achieve their best. We wish you well on your new adventures.
We said a temporary good-by to Katie last week as she goes off on her maternity leave. Enjoy every moment. Good-bye and a big thank you to Rose who has been one of our nurses at Greenmead for almost 3 years. We wish
you well in your travels and as you head back home. Good-bye and thank you to Cami who has been a part of the nursing team this term and supporting pupils’
medical needs in class. Good-bye and thank you to Becca, our play therapist who has been covering Alanna’s maternity leave and is about
to go on maternity leave herself. Good-bye to Sarika who has been such an asset to Greenmead for many years and brings so much joy when she
works with the pupils. Goodbye to Lorna who has been at Greenmead since she was 17 years old and has now trained as an Occupational
Therapist. Good-bye and thank you to Kate who is going onto new adventures beyond the classroom.
It was so wonderful to have Kaz, the physio back at Greenmead for a little while. We say good-bye again as she goes back into her role in the community team. We are so glad you got re-deployed to us!
Wishing our pupils, their families, our staff and their families,
our friends and governors a wonderful summer break. Enjoy
time with family and friends, sunshine, nature and a really
good rest. We look forward to another exciting year with
you all.
