A publication of Friends of the Westfield Library

The trustees of the five Hamilton County library systems, Carmel Clay,Hamilton East, Hamilton North, Sheridan, and Westfield Washington, haveapproved an agreement that will allow any Hamilton County resident wholives in a library district to borrow from any library in the county using theirhome library card. Residents will no longer need to purchase a public Li-brary Access Card to use other libraries in the county. (The PLAC is still re-quired to check out materials from public libraries outside Hamilton County.)Card holders will be able to use these expanded library privileges beginningJanuary 2, 2010.

Prior to this agreement, patrons were limited to the library district where theylive and/or pay property taxes. In a spirit of cooperation, library directors antrustees agreed they wanted to find a way to provide greater access for Hamilton County residents and they began to discuss the feasibility of reciprocalborrowing. After several meetings to work out the details, the result is ex-panded resources for all public library card holders in the county. Reciprocaborrowing offers convenience and enhanced use of public library resources Hamilton County.

To become a reciprocal borrower at any county library location, patrons willbe asked to present their current valid library card from their home library.

Borrowers will observe the rules and regulations of the lending library andmust return materials to the library from which the items were checked out.Policies may differ among the five different systems, and patrons shouldcheck with each library for additional information.

The agreement will include nearly 182,000 current library card holders countywide. With access to many more materials, services and program opportunities at locations throughout the county, the number of card holders will likeincrease as non-users realize the added benefits of having a public librarycard in Hamilton County. Reciprocal borrowing is available to current resi-dents and property tax payers in any of the five library districts in Hamilton

    County.

As the launch date of this program approaches, additional details will beavailable on each library systems website and at all library locations.

    Kisser

    by Stuart Woods

Stone Barrington is back in New York, and after a

rather harrowing sojourn in Key West, he's looking to

stay closer to home and work on some simple divorce

and custody cases for Woodman & Weld. But when

he crosses paths with a fetching Broadway actress,

and sometime lip model, Stone gets a little moredeeply involved with business than he'd expected.

When his new lady love turns out to be a lady with a

shady past, Stone and downtown cop Dino realize that

her beauty may have an unusually high price. . . .

    Pirate Latitudesby Michael Crichton

From one of the best-loved authors of all time comes

an irresistible adventure of swashbuckling pirates in

the New World, a classic story of treasure and

    betrayal.

Suicide Kingsby George R. R. Martin

In 1946, an alien virus that rewrites human DNA was

accidentally unleashed in the skies over New York

City killing ninety percent of those it infected. Nine

percent survived to mutate into tragically deformed

creatures, and one percent gained superpowers. This

tale is the history of the world since thenand of the

heroes that emerge. Ranging from New York to

ravaged Africa, the book encompasses war,

devastation, and stubborn hope, and advances the

story of the Wild Cards, and their struggle to be fullyhuman in a world that fears and mistrusts them.

    Hidden Empireby Orson Scott Card

In this sequel to Cards bestselling novelEmpire,

Averell Torrent has become President of the United

States, with enormous political and popular support

and, if people only realized it, a tight grip on the reins

of both political parties. He has launched America

    into a get-tough, this-world-is-our-empire foreignpolicy stance.

    Deeper Than the Dead

    by Tami Hoag

California, 1984. Three children, running in the woods

behind their school, stumble upon a partially buried

female body, eyes and mouth glued shut. Close behind

is their teacher, Anne Navarre, who is shocked by this

discovery and heartbroken as she witnesses the end of

the childrens innocence. What she doesn't yet realize

is that this will mark the end of innocence for an entire

community, as the ties that bind families and friends

are tested by secrets uncovered in the wake of a serialkiller's escalating activity.

    Memories of Muhammad by Mallory

Who was the historical Muhammad, and how do

Muslims remember himas a holy prophet, a cultural

revolutionary, a military leader, or a spiritual mystic?

Unending media coverage of extremist fanatics and the

controversy over offensive cartoon depictions of

Muhammad have prejudiced our Western perceptions

of Muslims and their founder. This definitive biography

of the founder of Islam by a leading Muslim-American

scholar will reveal invaluable new insights and provide

a fully three-dimensional portrait of Muhammad and

    his one billion followers.

    Days of Goldby Jude Deveraux

The second book in the multigenerational Edilean Se-

ries that began withLavender Morning,Days of Goldis

filled with passion, humor, exquisite detail, and

    pulse-pounding adventure. Stirring and masterfully

rendered, this is Jude Deveraux at her best.

    The Disciple

    by Stephen Coonts

Returning to the kind of military and espionage story

that made Cuba one of his most successful novels,

Coonts weaves an unforgettable tale of men and women

at war, with the sort of dramatic military action and

undercover technology for which Coonts is known.

    The Honor of Spies

    by W.E.B. Griffin

August 6, 1943: In his brief career in the Office of

    Strategic Services, twenty-four-year-old Cletus Frade

has already been involved in a lot of unusual situations,

but nothing like the one he's in now, standing with a

German lieutenant colonel named Wilhelm Frogger in a

    Mississippi prisoner-of-war detention facility. Frade's

    job? To help Frogger escape.

Ortho-Bionomy: A Path to Self Care

    by Luanne Overmyer

Ortho-Bionomy is based on the premise that the body

inherently knows how to heal and self-correct, given the

opportunity. This user-friendly self-help guide by one of

the pioneers of the approach presents positions, postures,

and movements designed to release tension and ease

pain. Quick fixes for sciatica, suggestions for

dealing with menstrual cramps, and gentle movement

exercises to address posture are just a few among 150

techniques described. Rounded out with human-interest

stories and client examples, this accessible work can be

used quickly and effectively by anyone with pain.
