INDIAN CANCER SOCIETY April 2017—Issue 62 NEWSLETTER AAINA World No Tobacco Day 2017 Dr. Rajesh Bhalla, Mrs. Aruna Ummat and Ms. Khyati Bhadula attended the National Consultation on "Optimizing the skills of Health Workforce to Tackle Non- Commu- nicable Diseases in India: Setting Priorities for Action" on 18th April, 2017 at India Habitat Centre. Dignitaries from different health institutions delivered the note on India Fights NCDs. Dr. Rajesh Bhalla and Ms. Khyati also attended a brainstorming session on the drafting of CSO engagement guidelines for Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and WHO India, under the National NCD response at HRIDAY on 20th April 2017. Poster & Skit competition on the topic Tobacco—a threat to development, under the World No Tobacco Day 2017 was conducted at Navy Children School Chanakyapuri on 21 April, 2017. ICS partnered with Creative Vibes (NGO) to spread cancer awareness through dance, theatre play, musical performance and other entertaining programs at Dilli Haat, Pitampura on 2 April, 2017. World No Tobacco Day 2017

Dr. Rajesh Bhalla, Mrs. Aruna Ummat and Ms. Khyati Bhadula attended the National Consultation on "Optimizing the skills of Health Workforce to Tackle Non- Commu-nicable Diseases in India: Setting Priorities for Action" on 18th April, 2017 at India Habitat Centre. Emotional Support:

Emotional support was given to 59 at Fortis Gurgaon, 34 at Batra, 25 at IRCH, 30 at AIIMS, 80 at BL Kapur, 74 at Medanta, 105 at Artemis and 150 at R&R.

Medical assistance was given to 14 patients and 8 new patients were adopted.

Screening Camps:

Camps were held at Gujranwala Town Dharamshala State bank Colony, Farida-bad and Rohini. At these camps 270 people were screened ( 122 men & 148 women, 22 mammography). These camps were supported by Exide Life Insurance.

At the CDC 211 people were screened (125 men & 86 women), 105 follow ups, Mammography 23 and 108 PSA.

Awareness:

Sneh Kapur conducted an awareness talks at Government Girls Senior Sec School, Tuglakabad.

Sunita Gupta and Inderjeet delivered a talk at Navy Children school. Sunita also gave a talk at Connaught Place on Women’s Day. Asha Handa & Ranjeet gave a talk at Sarvodaya Girls School FM Talk—April: First Friday: Sunita Gupta on Indian Cancer Society Third Friday: Indra Jasuja on Positivity in Cancer patients

Ongoing Programs

Prashanti

Ben-10 donated t-shirts and were distributed to the child patients who visit Prashanti for the Tuesday nutritional meal program.

ICS Update

ICS has bought its new home at B63-B 64 New Delhi South Extension—Part 2.

Beeta Mehta has taken over as Director, Cancer Sahyog.

Deepa Khemani has taken over Prashanti from Rekha.

In the month of April, Indian Cancer Society Delhi offer free Prostate Screening Antigen (PSA) test at our Cancer Detection Centre.

World No Tobacco Day 2017—Corporate on 5th
