PRINCIPAL’SMESSAGE FOCUS

Week 10 - PARTICIPATE All subjects countWeek 11 - BE SAFE Be safe and kind online

WHAT’S COMING UP

WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENINGDear Families,It’s been a fun couple of weeks with Ride to School Day, Cross Country Fun Run on the beach and a picnic day for Day of Celebration. It is great to see so many students excited and participating in every opportunity they get.

Congratulations to Luna who made the FNC football team and to Taj and Harry who made the FNC AFL teams. These student will attend North Coast trials this week. Congratulations to Taj and Jy who made the District team for League and will attend FNC trials this week.We have had a number of families expressing frustration about repeated cases of Head Lice. Head Lice are particularly common in Primary Schools and difficult to get rid of. I’m asking that every family participate in a Nit Bliz this Sunday 7th April and again on Monday 29th April before students return to school. If we can all Blitz them on the same days we might have a hope of limiting repeat infestations. I have included a Nit Blitz letter with this newsletter.Next week our PBL focus is being safe and kind online. We have numerous programs at school to give students the skills to have a positive and safe online presence. I would encourage all families to have a look at the parents reources on the government E-Safety website. It has current research, and information that supports families to have conversations with their children about online safety. It is particularly timely in the lead up to holidays when some students spend more time online. The link to website is www.esafety.gov.au/Have a Wonderful Break, Mel

CHOIR - SENIOR PERFORMANCE & ANZAC DAY PERFORMANCESThe 16 senior choir students from years 5 & 6 will be performing Somewhere Only We Know by Keane at this weeks assembly. These students also are members of the 60+ school choir who will sing Lest We Forget at the ANZAC Day school assembly on Thursday 11 April at the Brunswick Heads Cenotaph at 1:30pm. For those choir students who are able to attend, they have been invited to sing again at the official Brunswick Heads ANZAC Day Dawn Service (Thursday 25th April). They will be joined by students from Ocean Shores Public, Mullumbimby High and Primary schools. Please return your note to the office.

RIDE TO SCHOOL DAYWhat a fabulous participation rate! We encourage all families to ride, walk and skate to school as often as possible. Please wear a well fitted helmet and dismount your bike when crossing the road.

ECO EXCURSION TO THE OP-SHOP!Miss Shambler and several students from the Eco Club visited the Bruns Op Shops last week to purchase reuable spoons to use in the canteen instead of straws for slushies! There will be no more plastic straws or spoons from next term.

BETTER BRUNS EXPODid you see the Miwin & Binging Expo? So many awesome ideas to make Bruns even better!
