singing and music from the Arabian Nights drifting out from the hall. It is promising to be a great show and it is not too late to book your tickets. There are still tickets available for Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 September – so don’t miss out!

Please be mindful of buses on the roads around our school. The streets are narrow and often both sides of the road are filled with parked cars. Buses have priority and other vehicle drivers should give way to buses displaying the give way sign in a built up area, when a bus is about to enter or proceed in the lane or line of traffic and the bus is in front of the driver.

Miss Lucantonio is well into her Canadian adventure and we are all looking forward to hearing about her travel tales of Canadian schools and grizzly bears when she returns early in Term 4.

Finally, I would like to wish all students, their families and our staff a happy, safe and refreshing holiday, ready to return to school on Monday 15 October.

Miss Senthil

PBL ASSEMBLY AWARDS Please note that there will be no 3-6 or K-2 Assembly held in Week 10 due to preparations for our upcoming school musical performances.

3-6 PBL Awards will be given to students on Monday 22 October in the Week 2, Term 4 Assembly.

K-2 PBL Awards will be given to students on Tuesday 23 October in the Week 2, Term 4 Assembly.

POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNING The Positive Behaviour for Learning focus for this last week and this week is being a resilient learner in the library and in the toilets. Ask your child how they will be resilient learners at school this week.

For more information about Positive Behaviour for Learning and our award system please see the school website. On our PBL site you will find a matrix that you can use at home to reinforce the school expectations. http://www.croydonp.schools.nsw.edu.au/ourschool/positivebehaviour-for-learning

SPEECH PATHOLOGY PROGRAM See the end of this newsletter for a handy tip from our Croydon Public School speech therapist, Elizabeth Ware. This tip gives you some great ideas about how to help your child ‘tune into’ the sound system of the English language and develop their memory skills.

TERM 4 Students and staff will return to school on Monday 15 October. The final day of the school year is Wednesday 19 December.

INTENTION TO APPLY FOR YEAR 7 SELECTIVE HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT IN 2020 The Selective High School Placement Test will be held on Thursday 14 March 2019. Applications for selective high school placement are considered mainly on the basis of the Selective High School Placement Test results and school assessment scores. If you would like to have your child considered for Year 7 selective high school entry in 2020, you need to apply on the internet using a valid email address (not the student’s email address). Detailed instructions on how to apply online will be available from mid-September 2018 at https:// education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-7. The application website opens that link on 9 October 2018 and closes on 12 November 2018. You must apply before the closing date. Please note: The school cannot apply on your behalf.

FIVER FOR A FARMER On Wednesday 12 September, the SRC organised the Five for a Farmer Fundraiser. Students were encouraged to dress up as farmers and donate $5 to provide relief for farmers and their communities affected by the drought. As many of you are aware, 100% of NSW is in drought and the students of Croydon PS were keen to help and show their support. Thank you so much to all the students who participated in the fundraiser as an amazing $2560.00 was raised on the day. The money raised will be donated to Rural Aid and Drought Angels. The SRC would like to extend a big thank you to all the students who contributed and made the fundraiser a success. SRC

PERFORMING ARTS CONCERT Thank you to the members of the CPS school community that attended the Term 3 Performing Arts Concert last Tuesday afternoon. The musicians and singers of various ages and abilities had a joyous performance experience! We showcased three school bands, three choirs

and two recorder ensembles. The Performing Arts are alive and well at Croydon Public School. Mrs Philpot and Mr Richards

STAGE 1 MULTUCULTURAL DAY Stage 1 students have been learning about why people feel connected to places. We have discovered that at Croydon, we have students who feel connected to a wide range of places. To celebrate this, we had a Multicultural Day. We enjoyed food from a variety of cultures and wore clothes representing our special places.

KINDERGARTEN 2019 We are currently enrolling students for the 2019 Kindergarten intake. If you live in the local area and have a child starting school next year, please visit the office to collect enrolment papers and enrol your child. If you have a friend or relative with a child starting school next year, please encourage them to enrol their child as soon as possible. We will be holding our annual Kindergarten Orientation program from 9.00-11.00am on Monday 22 October, Monday 29 October and Monday 5 November.

NOTES Please be aware that some student accounts are sitting in credit (Fees in Advance). A few weeks ago, a letter was sent home via students advising parents/carers of the amounts in credit. We asked

that for those parents/carers to contact the office regarding their statements. As yet we have not heard from anyone so therefore we will be allocating any credit to outstanding activities (not including voluntary fees unless advised to do so). If there are no outstanding fees and you are in credit please do not pay for any future activities, however you will need to sign future permission notes which should then be placed in the fees box outside the office. The office staff will advise you of any credit used to reconcile outstanding payments. If you have any questions regarding accounts in credit please contact the office staff as soon as possible.

TELL THEM FROM ME SURVEY It is not too late to participate in the the Tell Them From Me Parent Survey This survey assists us with our school planning. The Tell Them From Me Parent Survey is anonymous, voluntary, and easy-to-use. It is based on a comprehensive questionnaire covering parents’ perceptions of their child’s experiences at home and at school. Insights into parent and staff communication, activities and practices at home, and parent voice on the school’s support of learning and behaviour all build an accurate and timely picture that our school can use for practical improvements. If you have more than one child at Croydon Public School, we recommend that you complete the survey with only one child in mind. However, if you feel the school experiences of your children differ, you are welcome to complete one survey for each child. To access the Tell Them From Me Parent Survey, please visit the following link using password b6t2j https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/b6t2j This survey window is open from Tuesday 28 August - Friday 26 October.
