2015 MAAA National Championship
Brisbane Queensland
NEWSLETTER DAY 1
LARCS in great shape for the
Aerobatic Nationals.
LARCS Saturday 9 April
DAY 1 competition saw plenty of action in the
skies above Logan and the Sunshine Coast.
From all reports, the Pylon events at Coolum
took off as would be expected from these pilots
– fast and furious! Results and photographs will
appear in tomorrow’s newsletter.
For today, this space is devoted to those
graceful and precise aerobatic planes and the
skilful flying that amazed the crowd at LARCS.
It was a picture perfect day for the competitors
with the bacon and egg rolls smelling a treat on
the barbecue and a warm welcome plus a few
wise words from the President of LARCS, who is
also fulfilling the role of Safety Officer for the
competition.
CD, Peter Pennisi, invited the pilots to prepare
their machines for the early rounds. The winners
will be decided at the conclusion of all the
rounds of flying tomorrow.
The Logan aeromodellers are to be
congratulated on their thorough field
preparation, despite March’s rainy days.
The LARCS complex looks amazing. Control Line
competitors arrived throughout the day to
register and many took the opportunity to get in
some practice before their events get
underway.
Competitors in Aerobatics today were:
Advanced: Michael Hobson
Ross Ward
Expert: Henry Huchinson
John Lee
F3A: Jason Arnold
Gavin Broadbent
