Principal’s Report
Program and Student Review Meetings Another successful Program and Student Review (PSR) afternoon/evening was held yesterday. A large number of parents/guardians attended the meetings with teachers to discuss their child’s progress. Vaccination Program 25 brave soldiers lined up for their Meningococcal vaccinations this week. Meningococcal is a serious blood infection. This vaccination is very important as it provides good protection against this disease. Dental Van It is great to see so many of our Emerson students participating in the Dental program currently underway at our Junior/Senior Campus. School Uniform There are still a number of students coming to school with incorrect uniform. Please ensure that students are wearing the correct school uniform. If you have any queries, please contact our School Office who will be able to provide you with a uniform list. DAVID WALSH Acting Principal

Value of the Week
We will be studying the value, Honesty, next week.
Honesty is being able to say what you mean and mean what you say. You do not just say things that you think
people want to hear. Honest people do not exaggerate to impress others. They can be relied upon to tell the truth
every time.

EMERSON SCHOOL BUSES
REMINDER: Please be at the bus stop 5 minutes before your designated time of pick up and drop off.
Only use your designated bus stop, if something unexpected arises (parent held up due to
traffic caused by an accident, etc.) and you need to change your designated stop please
contact the school office on 9791 8900 for drop off changes and the bus directly for
changes to the morning pick up stops. This should be a rare occurrence.
Please inform the school office if another person is picking up your child from their
designated bus stop. This needs to be done on each occasion unless it is a regular
occurrence, i.e. every Friday, and you have informed the office of this nightly or weekly
occurrence.
These rules are in place to ensure the safety and well being of all students
travelling on the school bus and that the buses run as close to schedule as possible.
HEALTH TIPS
Lifting weights is one of the best things you can do to strengthen your muscles and improve your body composition. It also leads to massive improvements in metabolic health, including improved insulin sensitivity. The best approach is to lift weights, but doing bodyweight exercises can be just as effective.
Sudden infant death syndrome
(SIDS), also known as cot death
or crib death, is the sudden
unexplained death of a child of
less than one year of age.
Diagnosis requires that the
death remains unexplained
even after a thorough autopsy
and detailed death scene
investigation. SIDS usually
occurs during sleep.

HOUSE POLO SHIRT ORDER FORM
Students at Emerson School participate in a House Program (or ‘Houses’) every Wednesday
morning. The House program provides an opportunity for cross age tutoring of students,
development of leadership skills and an emergence of a ‘big sister/big brother’ mindset. Students
look towards nurturing and encouraging the younger members of their House like a family. Students
are given a House group when they enrol. Each House group is designated by a colour and House
polo shirts are worn by each student. House polo shirts can be ordered through the school office
using this order form. Only house polo shirts, in the appropriate house colour, will be allowed to be
worn on Wednesdays. No other clothes, regardless of colour, will be accepted. If students do not
wish to buy a house polo shirt they will need to wear their correct school uniform to Emerson on
Wednesdays.
The cost of the polo shirts has been heavily subsidised by the school and will cost $10 each.
Please fill in the form below and return it to the school office with the money if you wish to
purchase a house polo shirt.
