We said the 2011 season would be full of excitement for our fans, and we think you will agree. We have had the fans out the gate by 10:30 both nights too. T he first two weeks had some of the closest finishes in quite some time for the Super Late Mod- els and Modifieds. Speaking of close finishes, how about Jessie Reid and Bubba Winslow on opening night last month? Just about a foot at the finish line as Winslow squeezed out the win in the Super Stock feature. Don’t be surprised if you see the same kind of finish this week during the Pro Late race. C ongratulations to Nathan “The Snake” Ingersoll on the 50 lap Modified race a couple of weeks ago. Maybe we should call him the “Professor” after taking those youngsters to school. The Mods will return on May 27th at the Papa John’s Blizzard. N ow let’s talk about tonight. Our plans are to carry on with more great racing action at America’s Favorite Home Track. It’s Allen Turner time, as 5 Flags Speedway plays host to the Pro Late Models for the first time this year. The Allen Turner Elantra 100 will be the feature event this evening and should be an action filled race with drivers such as D. J. Vanderley, Bubba Pol- lard, Tommy Rollins, David Jones, Chris Davidson, Brandon Odom, Shanna Ard and a host of others. This will be their first of five PLM 100 lap- pers for 2011. Also on the card tonight will be the Super Stocks, Sportsman and Bombers. Don’t look for any less action in these classes. PLM...100 Laps at 100 MPH Tonight

#3 April 22, 2011

Well, after two weeks of rac-ing it looks like our promise

is holding true. We said the 2011 season would be full of excitement for our fans, and we think you will agree. We have had the fans out the gate by 10:30 both nights too.

The first two weeks had some of the closest finishes in quite

some time for the Super Late Mod-els and Modifieds. Speaking of close finishes, how about Jessie Reid and Bubba Winslow on opening night last month? Just about a foot at the finish line as Winslow squeezed out the win in the Super Stock feature. Don’t be surprised if you see the same kind of finish this week during the Pro Late race.

Congratulations to Nathan “The Snake” Ingersoll on the 50 lap

Modified race a couple of weeks ago. Maybe we should call him the “Professor” after taking those youngsters to school. The Mods will return on May 27th at the Papa John’s Blizzard.

Now let’s talk about tonight. Our plans are to carry on

with more great racing action at America’s Favorite Home Track. It’s Allen Turner time, as 5 Flags

Speedway plays host to the Pro Late Models for the first time this year. The Allen Turner Elantra 100 will be the feature event this evening and should be an action filled race with drivers such as D. J. Vanderley, Bubba Pol-lard, Tommy Rollins, David Jones, Chris Davidson, Brandon Odom, Shanna Ard and a host of others. This will be their first of five PLM 100 lap-pers for 2011. Also on the card tonight will be the Super Stocks, Sportsman and Bombers. Don’t look for any less action in these classes.

The year just keeps getting better and to keep up with all the up-

coming events make sure you visit our web site at 5flagsspeedway.com and join our Fan Club. We had nearly 100 new friends join us on our Facebook Blog. Tim Bryant and I would like to invite you to join us Monday Night for “In The Groove ” on BLAB-TV at 8:00 pm. It’s live and we would love to hear from you, so join in and give us a call. Happy Easter!!!!!!!

Silent Motors Electrify Young Drivers at 2011 Electrathon

The roar of the engines last Saturday was replaced by the whirring of batteries. Electric race cars “quietly” made their way around the half-mile track at the 3rd annual Emerald Coast Electrathon Classic 120. The event is sponsored by the Gulf Power Engineering Society, the University of West Florida and Five Flags Speedway. Nineteen cars were at the event from high school, college and open teams as far away as Miami and Helena, Ark. The electric vehicles are built from a kit or from scratch and must meet design rules from the Electrathon America organization.

It’s all about family and friends. The racers take pride in inviting their crew, family and friends to share in the victory photos. Bubba Winslow (top) and Gary Goodwin are shown.

Aggies at the track. Two drivers share some pre-race time in the pits talking about racing and school...well maybe more about racing. Tracy Soles, a sophmore in #6 is shown with Courtney Rodrigues, a junior. Both are students at Tate High School, and compete in the Bomber Class. (Tom Wilsey Photos)

This has got to be the best looking Pace Car we have ever had. The Hyundai Genesis from Allen Turner in Car City is a beauty to look at, and Brian Abston says it is a dream to drive.

Broadcast: BLAB-TV alternating Monday nights at 8. Live call-in, available on our web site.

Back when there was one kind of late model, and a long protruding nose clip was allowed, they looked like a cow catcher on an old railroad engine. This is Rusty Wallace in the 1980 Snowball.
