Many have heard the Gospel but desire to grow in their knowledge of Scripture and its teachings. This first weekend of May the large LWML Mite Box will be set up in the narthex. Our featured mission grant is LCMS Global Seminary Initiative - International Student Scholarships:

The initiative works in three ways: 1) it takes the best candidates globally and brings them to study at the graduate level, equipping them to provide advanced theological leadership in their communities; 2) it also gives assistance to local regional seminaries for scholarships and aid; 3) it supplies continuing education through conferences, classes, and visits by qualified LCMS pastors and teachers. They joined with the other believers and devoted themselves to the Apostles’ teaching and fellowship…” Acts 3:42

Calling All Kids! Join us for Sunday School!

Sundays - 9:30 to 10:30 am Classes for all youth from Pre-School through High School

For Sunday School curriculum, grades 1 through 5, students will work together in “crews”. Crew leaders develop a relationship with their students as a teacher directs the activities, discussion, praise and prayer.

Pre-school and Kindergarten will meet in the Pre-school 2 classroom.

Elementary (grades 1 through 5) will meet in the Multi-Purpose Room: Each Sunday, students will participate in a large group “Welcome” activity, move into an “exploration time” in small family crews, then complete the hour with praise and prayer.

Junior High (grades 6 through 8) will meet in the Youth Loft.

High School (grades 9 through 12) will meet in the Gathering Area.

Prayer Request Updates We welcome your prayer requests to pray for your needs or the needs of others. Please remember to submit an update after two weeks so that we can pray more effectively, whether it be prayers of thanksgiving or to continue to pray as directed. Without these updates, the prayer request will be removed after two weeks as we will assume that these needs have been met.

“Pray for all people, asking God for what they need and being thankful to him.” 1 Timothy 2:1

1. Men’s Class—The Book of Acts, The Gospel Throughout the World—(Church Library) The Church is more than a physical edifice, more than a particular Christian group or denomination. The church is Christ manifesting Himself to the world through the people of God. God speaks to us today through Acts concerning the basis of the church’s power; the central mission of the church’ the inner workings of the church; and the perpetual perils threatening the church from without and from within.

2. Choose to go deeper into the Power of Prayer. (3rd & 4th grade classroom—new wing) In the movie WAR ROOM, Tony and Elizabeth Jordan are typical churchgoers who have become complacent and, even hostile, toward God. Through this 5-session Bible study, believers will be called to evaluate their spiritual life and growth, to uncover their true character, to trust in the God of grace, declare victory over their true Enemy, and discover that prayer really is a powerful weapon.

3. Choose to look in depth at the minor prophets Amos, Hosea, and Joel. (Small Gym) These prophet spoke God's message thousands of year ago, yet their message rings loud and clear to our culture and the world of today. Come and hear what the prophets are saying to you.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Dear friends in Christ, May 6, 2016

As the end of the year approaches, many activities and deadlines can cause anxiety and con-frontation due to stress and tiredness. Jesus tells us in John 13:34, “A new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another.” He tells us this is fulfilling the law so I posted the verse above to explain what that looks like. Let us all strive to show this love in our daily lives.

This past Wednesday we celebrated the coming graduation of our eighth grader, Ben Sepplefrick, with a dinner. He leaves us equipped to lead a life serving his Lord. Please join us on May 22 at the 10:45 service for our graduation ceremony. This week was Teacher Appreciation Week. Our PALS parent group treated our teachers each day with food and/or gifts. We thank them for their generosity and praise God for sending such dedicated Christian teachers and parents to serve in our school. This past Thursday was the National Day of Prayer. Our students had “Chapel Buddies” activities together that culminated in prayers for our nation. I’m sure that God heard their petitions.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our mothers. May you all be honored with love. God bless you with a beautiful day! Proverbs 1:8-9, “…do not forsake your mother’s teaching. They will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.” To God be the Glory, Linda King Principal
