Hayne will demonstrate printing a wood cut and a linocut, showing the tools used in these processes. She will also talk about the wide variety of papers used in printmaking with examples of these. Susan has lived in El Dorado County for 38 years and finds most of her inspiration right outside her door! Susan likes the diversity of printmaking, from woodcuts to etchings, to silkscreen and embossing. She is equally fascinated by the wide range of handmade printmaking pa- pers available and how the uniqueness of the paper becomes part of the finished piece. Susan is inspired by nature and the beauty of California. ―The bulk of my work expresses the relationship be- tween positive and negative space, black and white, texture and pattern,‖ Susan explains. Call to Artists

Calaveras Art Council Veteran’s Project http://www.calaverasarts.org/calaveras-veterans-art-project.html

At the back of the Calaveras Art Council's Gallery is a staircase reminiscent of the staircase in Norman Rockwell's The Home-

coming G.I. Beginning the first Sunday of April (April 2) the staircase at the gallery will be decorated and models in period uni-

forms and costumes. The models will create scenes saluting our veterans; artists are encouraged to attend to gather inspiration.

Music of each period will add to the mood.

Each successive first Sunday—May 7, June 4, July 2, and August 6—will feature a different war, starting with World War I up to

the current conflicts. Artists, writers, and musicians are invited and encouraged to create work based on the models and decora-

tions, and to submit work for a gallery show.

Artwork created from the inspiring scenes will be displayed in the Council Gallery from Saturday, September 30 through Saturday,

November 11, in honor of our Veterans. On Saturday, November 11—Veteran's Day—we will host a reception honoring Veter-

ans and artists. Attending artists will be featured in social media campaigns as well as press releases.

While as RSVP of your interest would be appreciated it is not required. There is no charge to participate although tipping the

models would be appreciated. You may come any time after 10:00 and stay as long as you want until 4 p.m.

Artwork created from the inspiring scenes will be displayed in the Council Gallery from Saturday, September 30 through Saturday,

Express Yourself in Collage with Lynn Slade

October 6, 7,and 8 - 9 to 4 each day

As artists we usually look at a scene and try to paint what we see, not how we feel about it.

This workshop is about breaking out of the norm. Explore different ways to approach texture,

color and composition to make a statement about how you feel about what you see. Maybe it’s

a change of color scheme, or perhaps the addition of some unusual textures, or portraying the

scene from a different angle. Learn to explore and stretch your imagination. The effort can re-

sult in a very personal and exciting image. $145

Contact Lynn at [email protected] or for further information call 209- 295-4667.

Class size is limited. Supply lists and additional information are available upon receipt of registration.

Starts at 6pm, Tickets are $70.
