GRIP Leadership

Last Friday, Mrs McFarland and I accompanied our school leaders to Bathurst for the GRIP

Leadership conference. This conference is held annually and is aimed specifically at primary

school student leaders. Our Year 6’s had a fun-filled day learning about lots of different

leadership skills and discussed some great ideas that they plan on bringing back to our school.

The stop at Annie’s ice cream parlour on the way home was of course, also a huge hit!

Festival of International Understanding

Saturday saw the annual Cowra Festival of International Understanding parade take place and it

was wonderful to see so many CPS students participating in the march. We were awarded First

Place for the ‘Best Float Featuring Children’ Theme, ‘Best Window Display’ and ‘Best Travel

Brochure Video – Stage 3’! A big thank you to the Early Stage 1 and Support staff for their

organisation of our school float and the amazing costumes!

Congratulations Nate!

Huge congratulations to Nate Gunn, on his selection in the Western Region Open Rugby League

Team. Nate will join with team-mates from across the western area to compete at the NSW PSSA

Rugby League State titles in Tamworth in June. This is an awesome achievement Nate, well

done!

Good luck Miss Irvine!

Today we said farewell to Miss Amy Irvine, who will be taking some time away from the classroom

to prepare for the birth of her first child. We wish Amy and her partner Zac the very best, as they

prepare to welcome their new baby!

Infants Easter Hat Parade

The annual CPS Infants Easter Hat Parade was held today! Children have been busily making

their Easter Hat creations over the past week and today the finishing touches were put in place,

hats were securely fastened onto heads and all nine Infants classes paraded up and down

Kendal Street. Thank you to all the families and friends who came along to watch the parade

and support our school. This afternoon, Stage 2 and Stage 3 had a ball participating in the

primary Easter Egg Hunt. Thank you to the P&C who generously donated Easter eggs. Be sure to

check out the school’s Facebook page for lots of photos!

Spotlight on…Budyabudya

Each week in our Newsletter we shine the spotlight on a particular class or learning area in the

school. This week we would like to share some of the amazing work from the Stage 2 and 3

students in Mrs Hattenfels’ class, Budyabudya .

Happy Holidays!

As we wrap up the final week of Term One I would like to acknowledge the fantastic efforts of

the staff at Cowra PS and the wonderful progress our students have made so far this year. I hope

all CPS families have a relaxing holiday and enjoy spending time with family. School resumes for

teachers on Monday 19th April and all students will return to school on Tuesday 20th April.

Have a very happy Easter and a wonderful holiday!

Jenny Lewis

Principal

Spotlight on…Budyabudya !

What a fantastic Term 1 Budyabudya have had. We began horse riding on

Wednesdays and the students loved it! They have been learning how to

mount and dismount their horse properly and using verbal commands

such as 'walk on'. We have also spent Term 1 learning about New Zealand,

our country focus for the Festival of International Understanding. We each

wrote an Information Report about a New Zealand icon. Budyabudya's will

be able to tell you everything about pavlovas, stoats and Kiwi birds now.

Students made paper mache's of their icon, which are on display in our

classroom and will be coming home at the end of the term. Well done on

a fantastic start to 2021!
