Let’s hope so! I would like to welcome our new committee members namely, Salvatore Vallelonga, Pat Luca, Nick Agostino and Cesare Mercuri. I know each of them personally and I know that they will be very valuable to the Club, each in their own way. This year we are planning many social functions for different age groups as well as for families, so I ask members to keep in touch with the Club by accessing our website or even calling the Club office for details of upcoming functions. We are happy to organise functions for our members and their guests but we need you, our members to support these functions. Once again I urge members to visit the Club and use our facilities, we have so much to offer, from the Members Bar, the Heritage Function Room, Members Dining Room, Cocktail Lounge or upstairs Ballroom. For those of you who have not visited the Club for some time please come down and you will be pleasantly surprised with the improvements carried out in the last couple of years. Your committee is continually looking at ways to make the Club more meaningful and enjoyable for our members and if any of you members have any ideas you would like to put forward then please feel free to present them through our office. This is our Club and if we don’t use it then we run the risk of losing it! I remind members to be respectful to our staff, to the many visitors that come to our Club, other members within the Club and to committee members who volunteer their time. Rude and aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated. Finally I would like to thank the Board that approved my Life Membership, which was tabled at the last Annual General Meeting in October. I was very appreciative to accept the hon- our. I look forward to seeing more members coming and enjoying our Club. Best wishes Joe Radici President Being generous is a wonderful way to live (Sandra Vellutini’s & Gabriella’s - Cambodia experience) My daughter Gabriella and I were privileged to travel to Cam- bodia with the Tabitha foundation. The Tabitha foundation is a non profit organisation that aims to improve the lives of poor people in Cambodia. We traveled to Battambang Province and built in the Prech Phos village. In total we built 24 houses for 24 families with a total of 120 children amongst the families. It was an honour and privilege to be able to help this beautiful, humble people. It made you realise what a blessed life we have here. This trip would not have been possible without the generous support of the WA Italian club and its wonderful members. Thanks and gratitude to Nunzio Nici who assisted me with the fund raising. President Joe Radici and committee for sponsoring and supporting us in this venture. We would like to thank the sponsors for their kind donations in my fundraising: Serafino wines, Il Panino Bakery, Golden Ravioli and Empire Function Centre. We were proud and honoured to represent the club. To the members who gave us donations towards our trip I’d like to let you know that thanks to your kindness we were able to purchase a pig which will assist 10 families and pots and pans to assist 12 families. The most exciting purchase of all is a fresh water well in the village we built in. At present these people walk 10kms to the nearest water well. This will make an enormous difference in their lives and it’s thanks to all of you. We will never forget this wonderful experience and your support. Italian Golf Club Now that our first year is over we can reflect on some of our milestones during 2016.

Our First Charity Day held at Joondalup Country Club Re-sort on Tuesday the 6th September 2016 attracted a field of 34 teams out a possible 36. This success was then fol-lowed with close to 200 people attending the Gala Dinner at The Empire Function Centre raising close to $15,000 for the club and The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

A full Western Australian team was recuited and a party of 45 players and their partners went to Melbourne to participate in the Festival City Challege Cup in October, to compete against other Italian Golf Clubs from SA, NSW, VIC, and QLD. This was the first time a team from WA was represented in this Golf Challenge and we came a cred-ible third place. But we came first in having a great time and creating life long memories and friendships.

The End Of Year Presentation Night in December 2016 had a great turnout with over 80 people eating , drinking, dancing and partying to the early hours and to celebrate the Inaugural Finalist of the Natale Security Services Per-petual Cup which was 1st Sebastian Pagana , and 2nd Dick Ansa , and 3rd Marco Scampoli.

Over the year I feel we have achieved everything we set out to do and more. 2017 promises to be even better with existing member drop off at a minimum and new member numbers continuing to grow.

And the big news is that PERTH IVECO CENTRE a divi-sion of DVG has come on board as MAJOR SPONSOR for 2017 and with all the other sponsors renewing their sponsorships things look better than ever.

Our 1st Golf Round Tee’d off on Tuesday 7th February at Mt Lawley, we hope to see you on the green at our next round on Monday 13th March at Royal Perth Golf Course. Fixtures can be viewed on our website.

Please direct any enquires for membership of sponsor-ship to President of the WA Italian Golf Club, Nunzio Nici 0449 851 225 or c/- reception @ waitaliaclub.com

All about Resilience ...What a valuable Member!

Changes to the Club(Installation of new doors) The Club’s recent refurbishments include the installation of new doors sponsored by Dino Dattilio of Austac Aluminium. The generous support of individuals like Dino makes it possible for our Club to continue. Thank you again for your support!

Welcome to the World of the WA Italian ClubCongratuluations to Daniella & Anthony on the safe arrival of their beautiful baby girl Arianna Lumbaca.

Daniella is currently enjoying motherhood and a well deserved break from the Club office.

The Pool area located in the Sports Bar in the WA Italian Club has always proved to be a popular spot for members. They regularly meet to play games most days of the week as well as to catch up on news and share a drink. Many of them have done so for years and enjoy themselves very much. Victor Marcello is no different, although his is an interesting and remarkable story. Victor has been a member of the Club since 1974 and plays for the WAIC Pool Club and has done so for many years. The Pool Club has been consistently successful in their Competition, fielding 6-7 teams each year. In the 80s and 90s Victor played Pool competitively as a WA State representative, culminating in representing Australia in Las Vegas in team events in 1991.

In 2012, he was diagnosed with a serious illness and given a very short time to live. As a mark of his determination and spirit and with the help of natural remedies, diet, Chinese medicine and positivity, he was able to return to his passion for playing pool. It has taken Victor one and a half years to return to competition level. 2016 has been a hugely suc-cessful year for him, at the National Titles held in Launces-ton on the 5-14 October, he again represented WA. The team lost to Tasmania 11-9 in the Grand Final team events.

As well, he won the State Doubles Event, runner-up in the State Mixed Event and the WA Italian Club Doubles Cham-pionship. Congratulations Victor for your successes in 2016 and your determination to overcome your ongoing prob-lems of health.

Victor comes to the Club most days to catch up with his friends and play some pool and he is looking forward to working with new Pool President Mario Panaia to make the Pool Club even better in 2017.

We would like to thank outgoing president Enzo Castro for his hard work and dedicaton. Finally, thank you Victor for providing some of your skill, professionalism and magic to the WAIC Pool Club.
