HeadsUpDearParent/CarerWehavejustsaidfarewelltoourYear11swhohavenow inishedtheirexamsandhave,wehope,alongandenjoyableSummeraheadofthem.TheyhavebeenatalentedandexpressiveyeargroupwhohaveaddedmuchtotheschoolcultureandethosandwearelookingforwardtowelcomingmanyofthembackintoourSixthForminSeptember.Thisnewslettershowshowmuchgoesoninschoolforstudentstogetinvolvedinwhatevertheirinterests.ItalsoshowshowmuchtheSixthFormisaddingtothiswonderfulschool.AreminderthatyouwillbynowhavereceivedinformationsentoutregardingtheNUTDayofActiononTuesday5thJulyviayourchildandalsobye‐mail.Therearealsodetailsonourschoolwebsite.Theschoolwillbeopentoyears7&8onlywhowillstillbetakingpartintheplannedAthleticsChampionship.

ArtsAwardGoodlucktoallyear7swhoaretakingthisawardthisyearinDanceandDrama.Weareveryproudoftheworkthestudentshavedonetowardsthisquali icationandwanttothankyouforsupportingthemathome.MsReadandMrsStocks,PerformingArtsLifeReadyAwardsWelldonetoallyear7swhoachievedtheirbronze,silverorgoldLifeReadyawardslastweek.Theyear12sranacelebrationassemblyforthemandpresentedtheirbadges.Theyarewelldeserved.Wewillbeencouragingstudentstokeeparecordofallachievementsoutsidethecurriculum,aswellasinlessons,sotheycanbuildupa'professionalpro ile'whichtheywillbeabletouseforlettersofapplication,UCASapplicationsandinterviewsfurtherdowntheline.MsRead,AHTKS3PersonalandSocialDevelopmentWorkshopIamreallydelightedtoreporthowsuccessfultherecentworkshopsrunbyUrbanHeardhavebeeninbothyears9and10.UrbanHeardhasworkedwithAlderbookforthelasttwoyearstosupportawiderangeofimportantissuesinourstudents’personalwellbeing.Mostrecentlytheyear9studentsparticipatedinasessioncoveringtheissueofmentalhealthandearlierinthetermtheyear10studentshadaonehoursessionontherisksassociatedwithcannabis.UrbanHeardhavefedbackhowrespectfulandengagedourstudentshavebeenduringthesessions,sowelldoneYears9and10!MrsOliver,HeadofPSDAlderbrookBakeOff!AlderbrookBakeoffwasrunasanintercollegecookerycompetitionbasedonthe‘BakeOff’televisionseries.Year9and10pupilscouldenterandtheyhadtocompleteanentryformexplainingtheirbakingexperienceandpicturesoftheirbakes.10pupilswereselectedtotakepartinthetworounds.Theywere:GeorgiaCharlesJ06CharlieMandersT08AyeshaHussainS15AmyGrantT14AlexHicklingS06AimeeBurtonT12CaraNoonT05LaurenSmithJ15NaomiDeavilleT01EvanGaddT11ThetechnicalroundwastomakechouxpastryandwasjudgedbythepastrylectureratUCBMrLarryNicholson.ThewinnersoftheTechnicalroundwere3rdplaceCaraNoon,2ndplaceAmyGrantand1stplaceAyeshaHussain.
Theshowstopperroundwastomakeaspongecake/cakesthatrepresentedthetheme‘CelebrateAlderbrook’andthiswasjudgedbyourHeadteacherMrsTLordandoneofourGovernorsMrsHArmstrong.ThewinnersoftheShowstopperroundwere3rdplaceEvanGadd,2ndplaceAyeshaHussainand1stplaceAmyGrant.
WhenthescoreswereaddedupfrombothroundstheoverallrunnerupwereCaraNoon(Tcollege)andAmyGrant(Tcollege),theoverallwinnerwasAyeshaHussain(SCollege).

SixthFormNews!SixthFormStudentVoiceConferenceWednesday22Junesawushostour irstStudentVoiceConferenceforourYear12students.TheconferenceplacedourSixthFormmotto‘Ful illingPotential:InspiringMinds’atitsheartandstudentsweretreatedtoaninspiringkeynotespeechbyGemmaMorgan.GemmaistheFounderofMorganEightLtd.andFellowoftheInstituteofLeadershipandManagement.TrainedattheRoyalAcademySandhurst,shewasthe irstwomantobeawardedtheCarmen Sword for outstanding performance as a young of icer. Gemma's story is one of resilience and recovery,emergingfromthehorrorofwarcrimesinKosovo.Shepowerfullysharedherexperienceandtheprofoundlessonsthatcameasshelearnedhowtoliveon.Year12hadtheopportunitytoquizGemmaafterwardsand indoutevenmoreaboutherfascinatingrecenttriptoFloridaastheleadfemalesingerintheInvictusGamesChoir!Aftersuchamotivatingstarttoproceedingsandalovelybuffetservedcourtesyofthekitchen,studentswereabletovoicetheiropinionsonavarietyofagendaitems,thattheythemselvescreated.Theyworkedhardinsmallworkingpartiestodiscusstopicsandpresentthembacktoeachotherwithrespect,focusandclarity.Allinall,averysuccessfuloccasionwhichidenti iedthemanystrengthsofourSixthFormprovisionandsomeareasinwhichwecancontinuetogrow.MorenewsofthiswillfollowontheSixthFormareaofourwebsite.MrsAnnaCJAllen,DirectorofSixthForm
SixthFormArtNewsWorkfromtheASArtexambecamea‘microexhibition’thatwasdisplayedintheEdgeforthereturnofthe6thFormstudents.TheArtdepartmentarereallypleasedwiththeprogresstheASstudentshavemadeovertheyearastheyexperimentwithtechniquesandskillssuchaslifedrawing,canvasprinting,painting,castingandinstallation.Studentshaveworkedreallyhardandtheirpersonal stylesarestartingtodevelop.
