They have been a talented and expressive year group who have added much to the school culture and ethos and we are looking forward to welcoming many of them back into our Sixth Form in September. This newsletter shows how much goes on in school for students to get involved in what ever their interests. It also shows how much the Sixth Form is adding to this wonderful school. A reminder that you will by now have received information sent out regarding the NUT Day of Action on Tuesday 5th July via your child and also by e‐mail. There are also details on our school website. The school will be open to years 7 & 8 only who will still be taking part in the planned Athletics Championship. Curriculum News Science Skills Award Congratulations to all Year 7s who recently completed their Science Skills Award. They have shown fantastic enthusiasm, dedication and commitment in equal measure, whilst also developing advanced scientiϐic practical skills. They have enjoyed a wide variety of activities including: making ice cream using salt, ϐire writing, making gloop, making Faraday motors, electroplating, making plastic from milk, making bath bombs, the science of biscuit dunking, microscopy, paper aeroplane design and rocketry. Well done all! The Science Department Year 8 Cookery Club Every Summer Term the Food Department run a 6 week cookery course after school for any year 8 pupils interested. The pupils start by making a Swiss Roll then they vote on a selection of recipes we can achieve in the time scale. This year we made cookies, pizza whirls, raspberry and white chocolate mufϐins, cheese and onion pasties and ϐinally macaroons. Pupils who cooked all 6 recipes earned their Alderbrook School Food Badge. Congratulations to the following pupils who have obtained their Badge Special thanks go to year 9 pupils: Fatima Amin, Yasmin Chahal and Vicki Myles who supported the Cookery Club and Mrs Khan and Mrs Lisiecki from learning support.
