TERM 4 WRAP UP - FAREWELL AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Finalising everything before the end of year is in full swing. It is always a very busy time in the school calendar with plenty of learning happening in classrooms as well as a lot happening outside of rooms; with camps, excursions, incursions, swimming, concerts and SAPSASA events just to name a few.

Over the past couple of weeks, we have been having our new 2020 Reception students from the local preschools coming for some morning transition sessions. We have loved meeting our new students for next year, learning a bit more about them and their families and ensuring we make their transition to Magill School next year smooth and successful…as we know it can be quite daunting ‘coming to big school’. We look forward to having them with us next year!

As always, our Reception to Year 6 Concert was a wonderful multicultural celebration involving beautiful songs and dances from around the world. Thank you to all of the students, teachers and families for helping to make the morning such a hit! A special mention goes out to our wonderful Performing Arts teachers, Georgea and Milda, as well as Nathan and ‘The Techies’ who did a lot of the behind the scenes work and heavy lifting! Thank you!

We would also like to wish all of our Year 7 students all the best with their Year 7 Graduation evening next Tuesday. The night promises to be a fabulous celebration of their many years at Magill School and will be a long-lasting memory for all of them. We hope all students and families enjoy a great evening. As we bid farewell to our Year 7s, we would also like to acknowledge all of our other students leaving the school at the end of the year and the outstanding contributions you have all made to our school community. We wish you every success at your new schools and for a bright future ahead.

Next week our students will be visiting their new classroom and teacher with the 2020 afternoon transition visit. As a staff, we have put a lot of work into structuring and organising classes for next year and have made every effort to ensure that your child is suitably placed for a successful 2020 school year.

As the year draws to a close we would like to bid farewell and goodbye to some of our teachers who are retiring at the end of the year. Helen Bentley, Deirdre McClaren, Anne Gilligan and Cath Cooper are all finishing up after distinguished careers in teaching and education! They have impacted the lives of so many young people and their families and we are forever grateful to them for their massive contributions to our school community over their many years here. We wish them all the best in their retirements! Thank you and will we miss you all!

It is also at this time of year that we acknowledge some contract teachers who we also thank and hope to see returning to work with us again next year.

Finally, thank you to all of our families for all of your support throughout the year. The Magill School community is always warm, embracing and supportive of everything we do. We would like to wish everyone a wonderful holiday… please take the time to rest, enjoy time with families and do the things that make you happy. We look forward to seeing all our families and students in the New Year.

Warmest regards,

Leadership Team John, Daphne, Kasey and Guy

Here in M3 and P11 we

recognise the importance of

the buddy program with

regular visits, where each

class gets to learn from their

buddies. M3 enjoys showing

off their hard work in the

garden and eating lunch out

there with their buddies. We

also celebrated Book Week

together, where we got to

create our version of

Rainbow Bear by stuffing

cotton into a paper outline.

We have had so much fun

hanging out with our

buddies this year.
