“Because we care --we want to help .” May 2009 Our Mission: To express the love of God through ministry to those in need, by supplying short-term assistance and promoting life skills. Gene Phillips has been a volunteer at Care Help for 8 years. He is a member of Wesley Methodist Church and worked as an employee of Chevron. Gene and his wife, Geraldine (also a volunteer), of 43 years, have 2 children, a daughter Kellie, son Billy, and one grandchild Alex. Gene enjoys camping, working in the yard, and volunteering. Gene will always put a smile on your face and has always been a dedicated member of the Care Help Family. Kathy Trahan has volunteered at Care Help as a cashier for 4 years. What she likes about this ministry is meeting so many people in different walks of life, seeing the good this organization is doing, and sharing with others. She is a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor and retired from Conoco after 34 years in Human Resources. Kathy enjoys filling her time with reading, volunteering, babysitting her grandchildren, and traveling. She has been married for 44 years to Dennis with 2 children and 7 grand children. Kathy has a tender spirit and is always willing to listen when someone is in need. 2009-2010 Care Help $1000 Scholarship Awarded to Colby Connor During Colby’s senior year at Sulphur High School he attended classes towards his degree in drafting at Sowela Technical Community College. He works part-time at the Son Shine-Shop, a well-established and respected Christian bookstore in our community. He has been a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, National Honor Society, and BETA Club. Colby is very involved in his church, Light of Life, as a youth leader and dedicated in God’s ministries. His goals in ten years are “to draw and build his own home, marry a beautiful Christian woman and have a couple of children running around, establish a big time drafting company, to be able to travel the world with his family, and find a business partner to help run the business to spend quality time with his family.” Colby is a determined and focused individual whom we believe will succeed in everything he sets out to accomplish.
