European Youth Week 2011 Youth Information Malta noticeboard In this Issue About Us European Youth Week 2011 This issue of Aāenzija śgħaŜagħ News Update is dedicated to the European Youth Week 2011. The European Youth Week 2011 will be celebrated in the member states and aims to facilitate structured dialogue to enable young people to influence youth policies and their implementation as well as the strategies of member states in the youth field. Aāenzija śgħaŜagħ sent a delegation of representatives from the National Youth Council to attend debates about structured dialogue in Brussels. This delegation includes a young journalist who will cover the European Youth Week 2011 in Brussels and representatives of Nature Trust whose project was nominated as ‘Best Project for the European Voluntary Service 2011’. Aāenzija śgħaŜagħ will be organizing a series of activities for young people to celebrate the European Youth Week 2011. Activities will be held from Sunday 15th May to Sunday 22nd May 2011. Aāenzija śgħaŜagħ prepared a programme of activities to reach a wide variety of interests of young people. These activities were also prepared in view of the European Year of Volunteering and the EU-China Year of Youth 2011. Activities include exhibitions, concert, forum, intercultural and volunteering experiences and a rock Mass. A number of activities were specifically prepared for secondary school students and include information sessions, training, discussions and adventure. Activities are intended for young people, youth groups, youth workers and anyone interested in the youth field. Admission is free of charge. Due to limitations in the maximum number of participants in some activities, we urge all interested participants to reserve their places in advance. The programme includes: Sunday 15 th May (15.00 – 19.30) – Bay Street, St Julians X’QED IĀĀEMMA? An opportunity for young people to exhibit items from their collections Monday 16th May (19.00 - 20.30) – Casa Leoni, Sta Venera UêUH! The opening of a photographic exhibition consisting of a selection of photos by young students of the Art Programme of the Faculty of Education. The exhibition will be open to the public during the whole week. An activity were young people experience a morning as a recruit in the Police. Tuesday 17th May (9.30 - 12.00) – Aāenzija śgħaŜagħ, Sta Venera NIDDISKUTU! An activity for representatives of students’ councils in secondary schools aimed at empowering young people and discussing their roles and contributions. Tuesday 17th May (9.30 - 12.00) – AêêESS, Valletta X'SE TAGĦMEL FIS-SAJF? An information session for young people organized with the Youth Employment Programme of ETC about courses and other opportunities this summer. Wednesday 18th May (9.30 - 12.00) – MCST/Bighi, Kalkara ĦAJTEK MAL-INFORMATIKA An activity for young people about the ways in which information technology is shaping lives and the benefits of the newest technologies. Thursday 19th May (9.30 - 12.00) – departure Castille Place, Valletta LIL HINN MIS-SWAR A guided tour for young people in collaboration with the Restoration Section about the fortifications and Valletta history where they will visit a number of sites which are usually inaccessible. Friday 20th May (9.30 - 12.00) - High Ropes, Ta' Qali AVVENTURA! An activity where young people will be assisted by the Sports Promotion Unit in an exciting and fun adventure.
