Finding Our Next Pastor
Your Pastor Search Team (The Team) has been diligent in properly starting the process of finding the Pastor God has chosen for Tomahawk Baptist Church. Our journey began with training provided by Tom Ingram, Capital Area field Strategist of the Baptist General Association of Virginia. Rev. Ingram outlined the various responsibilities and functions of the pastor search team. This was followed by a question and answer session. The information provided detailed outline/timeline of how the search should proceed. We were provided with Pastor Search team Handbooks to aide us in the process.
We elected Jeff Easton as our Chairman and worked to get several tings we felt were necessary to build our relation-ships with each other to build a solid foundation for the work to be done. We requested sue Stout to contact the lead-er of the Prayer Ministry Team and discuss possible ways to incorporate prayer in the serach process. The Team re-quested the Prayer Team request the congregation to pray weekly for the search process and the members of The Team. It was decided a good time for the congregation to pray would be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays when our Team meets.
We wrote covenants to demonstrate our commitment between the Congregation and The Team and also a covenant between the members of The Team to solidify our relationship and commitment to one another. We developed a written description of Tomahawk to be used in our advertisements.
On March 8, 2016, we had a joint meeting of the Pastor Search Team and the Transition Team to go over the Congrega-tional Survey Results. We identified key survey findings to be used in the development of the TBC Pastoral Profile.
March 13, 2016, the Prayer Ministry Team presented The Team’s request for prayer during the worship service. I want to assure you the prayers of the congregation provides us comfort and strength for the task we have before us.
Following all the important preliminaries needed to begin, we began our search by creating the mechanism to adver-tise and receive resumes. This requested the assistance of Mark Jones in creating the email address for The Team to receive resumes from potential candidates. Once the email address was established, we requested Robin Tarr to put the advertisement on the church website. We then posted print ads in the Baptist Global News, Baptists Today, BGAV newsletter and the CFBVA newsletter. A fee is paid for the Baptist Global News and Baptists Today web postings. The BGAV and CFBVA postings are free. We also reached out to numerous individuals with the BGVA and CFBVA for recom-mendations.
We have received more than 80 resumes and more are still coming in. We have begun the strenuous job of reading each resume, determining if they meet the basis requirements and developing a list of “A” candidates which we will then examine with intense detail until we can produce a short list of the best candidates. This is tedious and stressful work which we are all excited to begin.
The Team is committed to taking whatever time it takes to ensure we reveal the candidate we believe is sent by God to Tomahawk. We remain committed to keeping the congregation informed as we proceed. Much of the work we will do must be kept confidential as it involves personal information about candidates. However, we will keep you informed, as best we can, of the progress we make.

THANK YOUS Dear Tomahawk Baptist Church Family, Thank you so much for the prayers, cards, visits, and other expressions of caring over the last few months and at the recent passing of our wife and mother. A special thanks to Jim for leading her special memori-al service, to Darla for playing all the hymns she loved, and to Shirley and all the kitchen crew that helped prepare and serve lunch to our family and friends after the service. We truly appreciate the love and sup-port! - Charles and Becky King Boswell A huge “thank you” for all the donations of food to Clay’s Lighthouse and clothing. The items have been taken to Mercy Mall. I want to let you know that they are very appreciative of everything that is given and your generosity touches many lives.—Pete Zangardi, Missions Director Dear Sweet Church Family—We would like to thank you for supporting us during Jake’s accident and his continued healing. We have felt your prayers lifting us up and know that that is what has gotten us through some very dark moments. The power of prayer is amazing, and we must never lose sight of this power. We are grateful our prayer warriors started right away (thank you Guys and Dolls for jump starting the prayer chain) and continue to pray today. Thank you to so many that sent cards, called and reached out to us. We are truly blessed with a loving, caring church family. With much love—The Waldrop’s—Robby, Sally, GR, Jake and Conner

National Day of Prayer
May 5th
Thursday, May 5, is the 65th annual National Day of Prayer. This year’s theme is “Wake Up America” emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to return to the God of our Fathers in reverence for His Holy Name. This year’s theme is based on Isaiah 58:1, “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet.”
Let us join together in praying for our community, our Commonwealth and our nation.

behind the sanctuary.
The idea is for each of us to bring one item each time we gro-cery shop and put it in the Lighthouse. When the Lighthouse
is full, we will take the food to Mercy Mall to be given to people who need it.
