Remembering What Forever is Built On

I remember back when Forever started, the success was incredible and we grew rapidly. But, as you know with any business it’s not always smooth sailing. Sometimes, there’s a bump in the road that forces us to find the strength to move forward.

During Christmas of 1982, I was sitting at home with the family when the phone rang. They informed me there had been a freeze at our Aloe plantations in Texas and all of our Aloe was destroyed. I immediately flew to South Texas to see what we could do, hoping and praying that when I arrived what I saw would be better than the news I’d received, but that wasn’t the case. We had no Aloe. And the business immediately began to suffer.

There were some FBOs that left but more importantly, there were those that stayed. It was a tough time for us. We put everything on the line to stay in business and there were many sleepless nights. But we were convinced that what we were doing was right. We decided that this would never happen to us again. We flew out to the Dominican Republic, purchased as much land as we could and began planting Aloe in one of the safest weather zones in the world. In addition to the acres of plantations in the Dominican Republic, we now have plantations in Mexico and South Texas.

It was a tough lesson to learn. But during the toughest times, we become stronger and we grow the most. We grow roots that strengthen us and help us to overcome the challenges and obstacles that life throws at us.

I have learned that solid principles and core beliefs do not have a “sell by” date. It is never old fashioned or out of style to be nice to each other, to honor your commitments and to treat people how you would wish to be treated. I recognize that many of you might not have heard about this story, as you are new in the company. I am thrilled that you’re part of our Forever family but I ask you to be mindful of the foundation upon which this company

has been built. Forever was built on the principles of paying the highest bonuses possible, providing the most effective and highest quality products and empowering people to serve one another.

There are no shortcuts to success in our business. Of course, the speed at which we reach certain levels may vary, but the fundamental principles remain unchanged and will remain unchanged as we continue our journey.

Never forget that you’re part of something special: a business built upon taking the tough road. It may not be as fast and as shiny as you might want it to be, but take it from me, the road on which you must roll up your sleeves and work hard is richer, more wonderful, more fulfilling and more lasting than you can ever imagine.

Forever Yours,

Rex Maughan CEO

MAGAZINE Nº 64 | JOAQUÍN’S MESSAGE > P. 3

The main reason FBOs are successful is because they integrate certain skills into their daily life. Namely, they have turned certain good actions into a habit. They do them every day and moreover, they do them well.

The fact that someone has a dream they want to pursue with great enthusiasm does not guarantee success. Victory comes when we generate “successful habits”.

Other factors also count such as being concerned with improving each day, creating a team and having a replicable method. A habit is something you do naturally and repeatedly.

One of the variables in order to develop your business is sponsorship. To be a sponsor, you need to contact a minimum of 5 people every day. So you need to turn contacting these 5 people per day into a habit in order to be successful. How do I do it? Using a method:

You might not have spoken to five on the first day, maybe only two. It doesn’t matter, it’s a start. In one month you should be automatically thinking BUS +FREE SEAT+CONTACT+REPORT.

The main challenge is actually changing something even if it’s small and changing one single thing. Don’t try to change a lot of things at once as this only confuses your brain. Change something simple that is easy and from then on repeat it insistently. Lastly, don’t forget to be accountable to someone, as if not, there is no commitment.

Is it easy to drive a car? If you look at it from the outside, it doesn’t seem so. You have to control lots of variables (steering wheel, speed, indicators, traffic signals, other vehicles, state of the road surface, weather conditions, etc.) A lot! And nevertheless, you don’t think about all that when you’re driving every morning because you do it automatically.

When you “automate” a habit, you no longer think about it. You don’t need to make an effort to do it. Some studies say that we need three weeks to integrate a habit, others talk about two months. Whatever the case may be, a habit is successful when we “automate” it in our daily routine and continue with it.

So what are the habits we have to incorporate into our daily routine? I have these:

What are your successful habits?

Best wishes Joaquín García Operations Manager Forever Spain & Portugal

1. Self-motivation: I stand in front of a mirror and tell myself that I will be successful. This involves 2 minutes per day that I dedicate to myself.

2. I prepare a key task every day and that’s what I do first thing each morning.

3. I make contact with 5 new people every day.

4. I phone a customer every day.5. I introduce my business to

somebody new every day.

The habits of SUCCESS“We are what we repeatedly do”. Aristotle

1Identify the habit: “Contact 5 people per day”.

Outline a plan: Each day when I set out, I am going to make contact with new people. “On the bus, I am going to look for a seat beside someone rather than on my own”

Begin: “I’m starting today...”

Repeat: I’ll keep it up tomorrow and the day after and the day after that... “Every time I take the bus, I’ll do the same”

Be accountable: “Every day when I arrive home in the evening, I’ll send a message to my sponsor to tell him/her how many people I spoke to and their names”
