Lynne Irvine, our Executive Director, remarked on this in her speech, and as the history of Bulli was shared by Kerrie Anne Christian and our school leaders, the strength of our local community became more and more evident. Thank you to the many families who have taken the time to pass on their thank yous and positive comments. Principal’s Message Education Week Welcome to Education Week, which will be recognised this year in combination with NAIDOC Week activities.

At Bulli Public School, we celebrate education throughout the year, providing our parents / carers and family members with many opportunities to come into the school and view performances, visit classrooms, participate in activities and talk with their child about their education.

Perhaps you will have the time this week to chat with your child about their personal learning goals and how you can assist your child at home.

Term 3 Week 3

What’s happening in 5/6B?

5/6B have being experimenting with different types

of camera shots and camera angles during our visual

literacy and photography lessons.

The different camera shots and angles help us

express a point of view and draw our audience’s eyes

to the object and/or person. We use techniques such

as close up, long shot, point of view, bird’s eye view

and many more. The angles we used in our photographs

help to capture our ideas, engage our audience and tell

a story. We are looking forward to using our

photography angles to enhance our short films for the

‘Film by the Coast’ festival early in Term 4.

Stewart House Clothing Collection Stewart House clothing collection bags have been sent home today. This worthwhile charity provides respite care, health checks and emotional support for students who are suffering hardship and is solely funded by NSW public schools.

Please return the filled bags to your child’s classroom by Friday 16 August.

SkoolBag New Version A new version of the SkoolBag app was realeased 12 months ago. Parents who are still using the old version will need to update by August 1 as the old one will no longer be available. Please follow the instruction below.

Friendly Kids Friendly Classrooms The social skill for home discussion this fortnight is…

RESPECTING OTHER PEOPLE’S OPINIONS Everyone has the right to say what they want to

say without being put-down. Dos * If you don’t agree with what someone says, try to think of something they said that you could agree with. * Speak in a calm and courteous tone. * Firstly, say the part you can agree with and then say what you disagree with. * If you can’t think of any part you can agree with then say something that shows you heard what they said. Then say how you disagree.

Don’ts * Don’t just focus on what you disagree with. * Don’t use an angry or sarcastic tone of voice. * Don’t start your sentence in a negative way e.g. “No”. * Don’t call people names or use put-downs. * Don’t just criticise other people’s ideas and opinions. You need to come up with an alternative.

LIBRARY NEWS The library is a very busy place in term 3 with many exciting events happening for our students. The Book Week theme for 2019 is ‘Reading is My Secret Power’.

‘Each year across Australia, the CBCA brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Book Week. During this time schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children's literature and you will often see children's book character parades and talented librarians creating amazing displays.’ https://cbca.org.au/cbca-book-week. The CBCA Book of the Year Awards are announced each year on the third Friday in August. CBCA Book Week commences the following day.
